Teaching is exhausting!! It is 9:18 pm and I am about to crash like a baby!! I just wanted to share my joy-I love teaching! It is harder than anything I ever imagined, but it is wonderful. You never would have though that teaching kids to carry their ten when adding two-digit numbers where they had to regroup would be hard-Oh, but it is!! Just getting kids not to count on their fingers is hard! But it is fun to be goofy teaching science or making up weird games just to get them to learn their spelling words. I experienced my first school carnival where our team sold the food-let me tell you, it was crazier than anything I had ever put together or did in Chi Alpha. I was on my feet from about 7 am to 8 pm, with about a 15 minute lunch where I did sit down. Not to mention I had started that morning, so I pretty much was about to kill myself anyway!! But God, and only God, got me through it with a smile. Ephesians chapter 3 has helped me so much lately. You need to read over it.
"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to now this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
Doesn't that just make you smile!?! I may be teaching kids knowledge, but I first must love them and teach them how to love others. That gives me hope when I see such hopelessness in children everyday. Think about that next time you talk to a child-are you taking a moment to show them love, tell them hi, or give them a positive word of encouragement-It may be the only one they get that day.
