It is 9:18 pm and I am about to crash like a baby!! I just wanted to share my joy-I love teaching! It is harder than anything I ever imagined, but it is wonderful. You never would have though that teaching kids to carry their ten when adding two-digit numbers where they had to regroup would be hard-Oh, but it is!! Just getting kids not to count on their fingers is hard! But it is fun to be goofy teaching science or making up weird games just to get them to learn their spelling words. I experienced my first school carnival where our team sold the food-let me tell you, it was crazier than anything I had ever put together or did in Chi Alpha. I was on my feet from about 7 am to 8 pm, with about a 15 minute lunch where I did sit down. Not to mention I had started that morning, so I pretty much was about to kill myself anyway!! But God, and only God, got me through it with a smile. Ephesians chapter 3 has helped me so much lately. You need to read over it.

"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to now this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

Doesn't that just make you smile!?! I may be teaching kids knowledge, but I first must love them and teach them how to love others. That gives me hope when I see such hopelessness in children everyday. Think about that next time you talk to a child-are you taking a moment to show them love, tell them hi, or give them a positive word of encouragement-It may be the only one they get that day.

Thursday, August 31, 2006

I am a 2nd grade teacher in arlington isd!!!!! How exciting is that!! I just found out today and will get to move into my room next week and start teaching by friday woohoo!!!!!!!!!! I am camping with the fam this weekend, I get to see tanner tomorrow, and i am officially a teacher!! god is good, can i hear an amen???!!!! thank you all for praying and supporting me through the waiting....a special thanks to the love of my life who has been a-mazing and so wonderful-i can't wait to see you!!! ok, i love all my chi alpha sisters-love each other!!! happy labor day!!!!!!

Monday, August 14, 2006

ALL I WANT TO DO IS TEACH!!! I'm not sure what "shortage" people talk about, but if you don't speak spanish then you don't get a job. How stinky is that! I am trusting God-he has a greater plan for me than I could ever think up. I have had such a supportive family and love of my life to keep me grounded during my stress. God has been so faithful-I feel my faith and trust has grown. God is awesome. I miss you all!! I love you guys!!

I HAVE GRADUATED!!!

I am not an ALUM of HPU!!!! How weird is that? I am so excited!! I have applied to Crowley and Fort Worth ISD. Please pray for God to open the door to the school He wants me to be at. I have to say that my four years at HPU were amazing. I love the people I was able to meet and grow close to and I am thankful for all the wonderful opportunities I had. I miss my Quinn house roomies!! I had a lot of fun as Veronica and loved getting to know Andrea more (who was Betty). Student teaching has been a blast!! I love third graders!! I took some pictures of my kids last week, so I will try to get them on here soon. I have learned a lot about teaching, and to be honest it is very overwhelming. I am applying to Fort Worth ISD and districts around that area. I PASSED MY FIRST CERTIFICATION TEST!!! Just one more to go!!! Spring Break is very much needed, although I will be working it is nice to just be HOME.

I miss Tanner a lot though. He is in Mexico with a group from HPU. Keep them in your prayers because they are there to serve and see where God wants them to be used. Can I just tell you how amazing Tanner is and how spoiled I am!?! Friday, he changed the oil in my car, put gas in my car, and then loaded all of my luggage and stuff into my car so that when I got home from teaching I could just head home! AND he came up to eat lunch with me at school and met the kids!! I love that man!! He is sooooo wonderful!! I never knew that such amazing men existed in the world! I am truly blessed!

Two months and two days until I graduate from HPU!!!! It was a good first day outside of that. That night I felt so bad I thought I was going to die, but thank God Friday morning I woke up feeling a lot better. Only at 10 o'clock that day did my little monthly friend came to visit. I told my teacher that she will see a different woman on Monday morning who is healthy and emotionally balanced! God has a sense of humor, but boy does he come through. I love my class and I look forward to teaching!!! Kat, Lace, and Lauryn are student teaching too. They are having great and crazy times!! I miss seeing everyone!! I love you all!!

Tuesday, December 27, 2005

I love Christmas! We had a lot of fun family time. We deep fried a turkey for the first time-it was good, but not as great as people let on. Just give me good ol' fashion turkey and gravy and I am happy. Yay for getting teacher clothes.

Merry Christmas ( a little late) to everyone!!! I wanted to call a bunch of people, but then was too lazy to do so. I miss you roomie!! I can't believe how much I ate-and I probably wouldn't except there are witnesses to support the fact...dang it. My grandparents flew in from WV to come see us on turkey day, which was wonderful!! My grandma baked like four homemade pies, we had two punkin pies, a chocolate cake, punkin roll, homemade cinnemon rolls, and so many more goodies!! Aymies birthday was friday and my dad and uncles birthday were Saturday. My grandpa buttered my dad's nose-good times great memories. Tanner drove up Friday and stayed till yesterday. My crazy family has not run him off yet-he is a determined man!! Our two month anniversary was also Friday-yay!!! Now it is back to classes and teaching. I teach for the first time in an actual classroom today-I am very nervous!!!

Sunday, November 20, 2005

The semester is almost over and I feel so unprepared. I just did my portfolio presentation Thursday night and all I can say is that I wanted to cry and throw up all at the same time. God definetly was the only reason I was able to get through it with my dignity. It went well though and I am so glad I got it over with. Good news....

I am staying in Brownwood to student teach next semester!!

I am so excited. My parents brought up the whole thing-I was still planning to go home, but my parents said they didn't need my help taking care of my grandpa and that I should enjoy my whole four years here at HPU in the crazy Quinn House. I am very excited!!! All I'll have to do is student teach and possibly work some. I am excited cause I get to student teach in classrooms I am familiar with and with other HPU people like my roomie LACEY!!! I am so very excited. I have to say that staying here with Tanner for another semester is also a bonus-but is not the reason I am staying.
