Time to kill some time

Alls I can say is that I can't wait for the season finale of Lost tonight!  It's been a pretty good season so far--a couple of weak episodes like the Juliet-centered one and the Jack-centered episode (surprisingly since I usually like Jack)--but from the opening of the season I've been hooked.  Hopefully the writers won't let me down, and put out yet another stunning season finale.  I doubt it can be as great as the S3 finale, but I can hope.

As always, when I have something to look forward to the work day just won't go fast enough.  I feel like I've already read the internet three times over.  How the hell am I supposed to kill all this time at work?  And don't say work, cuz I tried that once and it sucked.

The Cleaner

Bleargh! I'm trapped in laundry hell.  I decided to try to be good and do just one simple load of laundry to avoid the hated marathon laundry sessions, and what do I get?  Aggravation!

I threw one load in but when I got back the washer was off but the clothes were all soaked and soapy and the washer hadn't fully drained.  Son of a bitch!

I thought I could just throw it in the dryer, but no, that would be too easy.  After almost 2 hours in the dryer the shit is now damp and soapy.  So I throw it back in the washing machine and I'm back where I started 2 and half hours ago.

I seriously need a servant to do this stuff for me.  I can't do my own laundry.  Don't you know who I am?

You should have built a wall, not a bridge

Ok, I have not been a good blogger recently.  So sue me!  No, seriously sue me.  I got notice of jury duty today and if I'm a party to a lawsuit I don't think I'll have to go.

So May, went by in a flash.  I don't really know what I did and frankly I don't think I have much to show for the month.  I did have a pretty kick ass Memorial Weekend were I totally respected our dead soldiers by getting my bbq on and drinking beer.  Oh yah!  Those dudes got us a wicked day off.

Speaking of ribs, I went to a kick ass concert Monday night.  Los Campesinos at the Empty Bottle.  Damn awesomeness.  Los Campesinos new album is my favorite 08 release, so seeing them at a small venue for $15 is a helluva deal.  Especially since I didn't pay for their cd.  They are playing a second show tonight and I'm half tempted to go, but the thought of 2 straight hungover mornings at work are leading me to believe an evening session of Grand Theft Auto 4 is the wiser option.

Where did the last three weeks go?

Ok, I haven't blogged in a while.  I guess I has been busy.  Here's what I've been up to since my last post:

  • Finished my move (but not my unpacking)--I now live in a lovely hovel about 4 blocks south of where I was living.  The upside is that rent is half what I was paying before and I still have a view of the lake.  The downside is that since before I was renting a furnished apartment all I have now is a television, an xbox and the worlds most uncomfortable chairs.
  • Went to the track (at Arlington) to bet on the Kentucky Derby--I had never been to a race track before and surprising had a lot of fun.  Ended up losing about $12 for the 5 hours I was there so not too bad.  Some horse died during the Derby itself, but I could care less about animals and frankly support destroying all animals I bet on that don't at least show.
  • Went golfing--I think I'm doing alright off the tee but the closer I get to the hole, the worse I get.  Golf really is a waste of a perfectly nice walk.
  • Visited the fam for Mother's Day--the highlight of course was seeing my niece, Grace.  She has no developed an earpiercing shriek which she uses to express both joy and frustration.  I think it drove the neighbor's dog batty.  She is also obsessed with putting her feet in her mouth.  She refuses to wear shoes and uses her feet like an extra set of hands to hold things.  It's pretty funny.  She looks like a cute monkey.
  • Saw Iron Man--who knew they'd actually make a good comic book movie about Iron Man?  And it was by the guy who made Swingers and Elf.  I really wasn't thinking this movie would be all that great, considering all the hype and positive reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised.  I liked this movie better when it was called Bicentennial Man, but I would recommend it nonetheless.

Not much else has been going on in my world.  Been working a contract gig which has been pretty boring.  They just added another 10 attorneys to the project and not a looker in the bunch.  All I can say is thank frog for headphones.

Alright, I'll try to get a good blogging streak going.  Until then stay safe, and if you're riding a bike at night, do wear white.

Any man can have one really bad day and end up just like me

Started a new project today and was so not feeling it.  I wanted to walk out of there as soon as I arrived, but I really need the cheddar.  All morning I just sat there thinking, what the f*ck am I doing with my life?  What is the point of even getting up in the morning if this is what I have to live for?  Then I went outside for lunch and started to feel better.  It was absolutely gorgeous this afternoon and I got a chance to sit by the river and watch some sail boats go by.  I billed so many hours on the last project that I think I've been outside for maybe 15 minutes total since Saturday.  I just bill, sleep, bill, sleep.  Bleargh.   I think I was just cranky cuz of all the hours.  I'm back to regular 8 hour days so I think that should help.  Still can't believe it's only Wednesday!
