Do you really love your enemies?

The great folks over at THE PLOW (www.blog.ministrygrowers.com) came out with a set of posters that really challenges us to take seriously Jesus' words.

I'm selling my Pocket PC...

My new-every-two verizon discount is about to come up, and I've decided to buy the LG Voyager.  As a result, I will no longer need my Dell AXIM X5 Pocket PC.  If anyone is interested, please let me know.  I'll make you a heck of a deal.  Right now, they are going for about $80 (plus shipping) on eBay.
This is a nice Pocket PC.  It runs Windows.  Stores all your contacts, etc.  You can play mp3 audio and video on it.  You can wirelessly connect to the internet with the optional PPC wifi card (not included, sorry.) It's also bluetooth capable (but needs the bluetooth card, not included.) As you'll see, there is a slot on the top for a wireless or bluetooth card.  It also has an SD card slot on the side.  I've used it thoroughly, but have taken very good care of it.  I would say it's in very good condition.  Just a few scratches on the body.  The screen is nearly perfect.

The PPC comes with the dock, which plugs into the wall for power & usb to your computer to sync.  (sync's perfect with Outlook.)  The dock also features a secondary compartment to charge a 2nd battery (2nd battery not included.)

I've loved it.  I think you will too.  Again, I'll make you a deal.  email me ecombs@nlnbchurch.com  or call me 217-251-3641

Here's the pics.

Date Night!

Last night, for the first time in about 2 months or so, Christina and I got away for a "date night."  First let me say, spending family time with us and Lil' is of utmost importance, but we also feel like spending some "us time" is also important.  So, Grandma & Grandpa watched Lil' for the night and we went out on a date.  Our first stop - Jimmy Buffet's Cheeseburger in Paradise.

It was good.  Christina had the famous mini-Cheeseburgers and I had the wonderful Baja Burger, complete with Jalapenos and Salsa instead of Ketchup. I also had a Strawberry Lemonade (with real Strawberries of course.  I mean, Jimmy Buffet wouldn't have it any other way.)

And while we were there, we enjoyed the live music.

This guy was funny - and talented.  He really knew his crowd too - all late 20somethings and early 30somethings.
He played 90's music! (with the exception of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'")
We heard songs from Blues Traveler, Tom Petty, Counting Crows, and The Violent Femmes.  It was really cool.  He had this big loop pedal that his mic and guitar were plugged into, so he would do drum loops with his mouth and sing backup to himself.  It was very cool.

Then, because my wife loves me very much, we went to Circuit City.  I just wanted to look around and she wanted to buy a cd.  I'd tell you which cd it was, except that it was terrible & we're probably going to throw it away.  It's not worth elaborating on...

Then, we went to the Kerasotes Theater and saw...

It was good.  Entertaining, fun, and generally enjoyable.  However, I must take issue with the movie's ending. SPOILER AHEAD!!!!

About two-thirds of the way through, Nick Cage and the crew begin the entrance into this incredibly hidden cave to find the City of Gold.  They have to go through many obstacles and clues to get through - you know, the classic "hanging from a cliff, about to drop" things.  And they finally find it, but must escape.  Under one of the Golden buildings, there's a tunnel that the water is flowing through - and long story short, the walk through it - about 20 feet, to daylight.

So the obvious thought is, why didn't they just come through that tunnel?  And why hadn't anyone else found this "lost city"?  I mean, duh.  So, it was a serious with-holding of disbelief that helped me get through that part. And of course, there will be a third movie.

I'd say that we had a very fun time, and I look forward to next month's date night!

long time, no bloggy.

hey everyone.  I don't have much time right now, but I wanted to let you all know that I'm using a different blogger account.  I may start cutting/pasting them here, but for now, if you'd like to get my latest thoughts, go to www.pastorelgin.vox.com

Oh, and just an update about the blog below - I decided that by and large, that evangelist was off his rocker... Actually, not only was he off his rocker, he wasn't even in the same room as his rocker.  In fact, his rocker was no where to be found.

REVIVAL NOTES

Sunday, November 25, 2007 PM SERVICE – EVANGELIST FRANK BUTLER

Below are actual quotes from Evangelist Frank Butler tonight.  I’m not sure what I think yet.

--------------------------

“Of what I’m about to say, I’m not saying that you should NOT go to the doctor.”

NUMBER 1 CAUSE OF SICKNESS & Disease – SIN

NUMBER 2 – ACCIDENTS

We should speak to sicknesses & tell them to leave.

We must also stop sinning if we want the sickness to flee.

You sow what you reap.  If you eat unhealthy, you’ll be unhealthy.

Some people like to talk about their “ills, bills, and pills.”

Man’s ways are to use doctors to remove sickness and disease.

God’s way is to use the “prayer of faith.”

Prayer + faith = healing & miracles

Jesus is not the “great physician” – he is the GREAT HEALER.

2 people in the Bible went to the doctor & they got worse.

That means we should go to GOD first.

Don’t take the Dr’s word.  Take Jesus’ word.

Be careful when going to the hospital – you could die.

Doctors screw up all of the time, God does not.

Every drug including Aspirin is a POISON.

Hospital errors are responsible for 10’s of thousands of deaths each year.

You want to pack this place (church) out? Start having miracles.

So, what does anyone else think about this?
