Getting to know myself

The past couple of months have been filled with alot of self discovery.  I'm beginning to realize many things about myself, my character and ultimately the things that interest me.

I am the kind of person who likes to be prepared, ready for anything, and efficiently organized to do so.  So I like tools...like man tools.  I like having tools for whenever I need them or if I can help someone by using them.  If I ever go to Home Depot, I can spend alot of time comparing and playing with stuff...  I like bags... I have at least 3 different back packs, 2 different travel bags, and 2 laptop bags (one new one).  I find that I like to always have a flashlight, knife, tools, etc with me on trips and in my car.  On road trips, I will have all of the above including, GPS, a 300 watt converter so that you can plug in a flat screen if you wanted to, a tire inflator (the cigarette lighter plug in kind), jumper cables, and a tire patching kit, and I have my laptop which has a wireless broadband card.  On overseas trips, I am a walking pharmacy, and will have pretty much everything I will ever need in case of an emergency.  But because I like to be ready to move, I only carry one bag that will fit on my back, which means I buy clothes that wicks (sweat goes straight through), wear antibacterial wicking underwear, and carry max 2 pants with alot of pockets....all so that I can pack less.  I always seem like I have the smallest bag but have the most things packed in.  You can ask my short term team members...they were always surprised by what else I had in my bag.

I also have realized that I like being a handy man.  I have taken alot of my car apart and will fix whatever I can myself so that I know how to do it and to save money.  I'll build it if I can or at least try to.

I like figuring out more efficient ways of doing things and just figuring things out in general.  Sometimes leading me to taking a longer time the first time around or just taking a longer time so that I can see if I can find a way.  I write macros at work to automate any process that takes more than 10 minutes for me to do.  I've helped my coworkers do this and save them probably 40 minutes a day of repetitious work.

And...that's all for now...  time for bed.

Even in the pain...You are there

Sometimes... I think I am accident prone.  I just about broke 4 fingers and it's amazing how close it was to crushing my joints.  Maybe like 1/4 of an inch more and it would have been my joints in between the steel.... and I would really have hurt myself.... Praise God for the small details...

So nobody knows a good deal when they see one...or they are just chicken.  If you aren't chicken, then let me know and I'll be more than happy to talk to you about it.  Still lookin... Free trip to Thailand, free place to stay, free money...

Some interesting facts from Dave...

·         If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, that is more than the one million people who will not survive this week.  - or the 27,000 children who will not survive TODAY because they will die of preventable disease.

·         If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

·         If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you have more freedom than three billion people in the world.

·         If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

·         If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

·         If you can read, you have more education than 2 billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

·         If you turned on the tap this morning and drank the water without fear that it might make you sick, you are more fortunate than nearly one quarter of the world's population.

You are more than blessed.
