i really like it when people paint what they like and stick to it and develop more and more into the subject matter. that is what i've liked so much about painting trees. by painting 'the same thing' over and over again, i've gotten better at painting trees, of course, but it's also like a soft blanket....like, i can be sure of the trees, and all i have to figure out is the background, the message, the meaning, the colors. it's both comfortable and freeing....
i've been working on one at the studio for a while now, and i have hopes of finishing it today. It gets pretty hot up there [i paint in abel's attic. its bigger than it sounds] so i haven't been up there very often or for very long. but the painting i've been working on is pretty neat. it's painted after a poem. when i finish it i'll post the poem and the painting together.
so, art show, november 15, abel's house, featuring paintings by YOURS TRULY and a good friend of mine from Austin. We're both newer painters, and we're totally pumped. so everyone should come...november 15, abel's house, night time. there will be some free snacks, live music, visual art, and a good time all around.
ps: in the words of my sister, "just because i think sara palin should stay home and raise her kids instead of running for office does not mean i'm anti-feminist."
can't wait till we meet
linda.charlotte out.
