From the Xanga FAQ.....

What does "Xanga" mean?

It means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. We just wanted a name that sounded fun, but was still short and sweet. Xanga fit the bill.

I always assumed it was a word in Japanese...I don't know why ;)

How do you pronounce Xanga?

We pronounce it "ZANG-uh"

Who was it that pronounces Xanga as "ZAUN-Ga"? You're wrong!

Could you use Xanga in a sentence?

Sure, here are a couple of sentences:

  • "I checked out my Xanga Site today and saw that someone had left a comment."
  • "I went to Xanga today and browsed through the posts in Featured
    Content."

We've even seen Xanga used as a verb:

  • I Xanga'd today for a few hours

The shortest sentence using the word "Xanga"? Xanga sucks.

What do Xanga members call each other?

We've heard it all: Xangans, Xangites, Xanganites...

We prefer use "Xangans". Here's our logic: if you live in Europe, you're a European; if you live in Asia, you're an Asian; and if you live in Australia, you're an Australian.

So naturally if you live on Xanga, you're a Xangan!

And if you live in Great Britain, you are British, and if you live in Denmark you are Danish, if you live in Spain then you are Spanish. So naturally, if you live on Xanga, you are Xangish! :P

Me.  It was me.  I'm the one who says "Zaun-ga."  I was wrong.

Well, I don't live on Xanga, but I do visit regularly and I do "own" some "property" there (my Xanga page and the space it takes up).  So what am I called?  Well, what do you call someone who, say, lives in America but owns a vacation home in, say, Italy and visits regularly?  Not an Italian.  You call them an American who owns a home in Italy and visits there regularly.  But what if they also own a waterslide park in Vienna?  Well, I don't know, but I bet they'd eat lots of Vienna sausage, because whenever they think about the fact that they have a waterslide park in Vienna, they'd be reminded of Vienna sausage, and they'd want to eat some.  I'm hungry.

I prefer "Zaun-ga," myself.  So does my roommate.

To Justonius: It's not about preference, but about accuracy.

(...but not punctuality. I know this comment is two months late.)
