So I think I'm due for an update.

Been a little while since the last post.
I went to Dan Lalonde's bachelor party, which consisted of picking him up at his house in Hawkesbury, dressing him up in a dress and going out on the town... well to McDonalds where he worked for about 7 years, and then to the grocery store where he saw a few people he knew.
I even got the store manager to announce his name on the PA, and right after that an old couple walked by him and did a double take, 'Oh so YOU are the one getting married!?'
Funny stuff.
I got myslef a job at a call centre. Going to be a Dell Tech Support Professional, so if you have problems with your dell, and you call tech support, you might get me one the phone... oh, only if you choose service in french...
Thing is the training is 4 weeks long, which is cool cause I get to learn about the computers and get paid 15$/hour.
But the training is long, and quite boring. There's a few young people, and there are all quite cool. there's even a guy that went to my high school.
So we exchange stories about back home and the rest of the people are just baffled that we are not coke heads with a couple kids out there in the world...
I feel a bit bad though, cause 4 days after I'm done training, ill be going away, first to my dad's wedding, and the to victoria...
hopefully they won't be too pissed and I can come back in the fall.

Last week was Dan's wedding, it's the first wedding I've been part of. It was really nice to see my friend so happy like that. I had met his wife before too, and she was really nice too. So the whole thing was just great. The reception was fun too, although I knew about 4 people there, Nathan and I had a blast. I am convinced that if people tell stories about two guys dancing non-stop all night, they are talking about Nathan and I.
At one point I tried to do the worm (yes, I was hammered), the worm failed, it looked more like a fish trying to find water again.. sensing panic coming on, i had to salvage what little dignity I had left, so i spun around on my back and tried a break dancing pose... i don't know what it looked like for the people in the circle... but I can only imagine the fear of a foot in the groin was on the guys' minds.
I even made it through my speech without breaking down, the couple times I thought I'd start leaking, the people clapped and that bought me some time.

So now I have just over two weeks left here. We just found a place to stay in next year. a 5 bedroom house in a residential neighbourhood. Heather and I and 3 other people from the Photjournalism program. We even have a big back yard... can't wait to get in there, especially since I'll get the big room... lol

I leave you with an itenarary of my trip west... I can feel my ass gettting numb already

Hello hello,
I'm afraid this post will not have nay pictures or videos or anything else like that. Kinda new for me but that's because the wi-fi in rez is kaput for some reason.

School is over for the summer, last class was last thursday, well, it was friday but I sorta skipped on that.
It wasn't a day I looked forward too all that much since I knew that once school was over, Heather was going back to BC for the summer.
I tried not to think about it all that much but its not like ignoring it would somehow push that day further. So Friday morning, everyone said their goodbyes see-ya-laters, and I drove Heather and Courtney to the airport in Toronto, Courtney was flying back to Manitoba. Crazy right, Manitoba has an airport. Who knew.
Up until now, all those new security measures they are doing at airports never affected me, even when I flew. But the fact that I couldn't wait with Heather at the departure gate.. and that really sucked. sitting on the floor right before the security checkpoint is not my ideal way to tell hte girl I love that I'll miss her and write everyday.
But that's how it was. Fuck you over-zealous security policies. seriously, I had nothing on me, just a camera and my iPod so we could listen to music together while waiting for her plane to take off.
But no, I had to leave pretty much right away. Well, almost. I kinda stayed in my car for a solid, 10-15 minutes, looking at the pictures we had taken on the way down from Belleville. I missed her the second I walked out of the airport.
I miss her more everyday.

The only thing keeping me sane right now is Skype. Seriously, Skype is fucking genius. Free video calls rocks.
Now I can see her everyday. We even watch movies together. We download the same flicks and start them at the same time.
Its not my ideal date night, but seeing her pull the blankets up when a scene is about to get scary is so cute.
Having another one today.

This weekend is my friend Dan's bachelor party. Not going to be a typical party as he doesn't want to go to a strip club, and that's fine by me, cause I find them depressing. We're going camping for a night, and since Nathan had a bunch of booze left over form his wedding, we'll have free booze too.
Speaking of Nathan's wedding, it was pretty awesome. They really made it fun for everyone there and it was so fun to see all much fun to see them so happy. I didn't get the garter but I came in second place. to Pat.
Also, on the friday before that wedding was Eric's moving away party. That was pretty awesome too, got to see most of my friends from school. A lot of you are on Xanga, so to you all, it was nice to see you all again. I had a great time.
After driving from Toronto with a heavy heart and feeling sad, it was nice to see you all and share some laughs.

I hope we see each other soon.
bye for now.

Last week

Hey there,

As Pat reminded me, I have not updated in a while. So here's what's new.

This is the last week of the fast track program. We did a newscast today and will do another one wednesday.

here and here are today's clips. (coming soon) The girl reading the news with me is a Brock U grad, cool girl, but I can see the whole TV personality coming out sometimes. Still pretty level-headed though.

here are some pics from the studio and stuff.

I shot a wedding last saturday, I was the 2nd shooter for a girl who does this all summer long. we spent 6 hours following the bride while she got ready, going to the church, and after the wedding taking pictures with all the familly.

I didnt really like the posing we had to get them to do. What I did like was taking pictures of the family and bridal party while they waited to get their "offical"shots done. They were all laughing and joking around. (these pics  haven't been re-touched yet)

Also, coming here, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do this summer. Try to find a job, and basicaly try not to get fat while I sat at home.

Well, now I have a much better idea. I'll try to find a job here for a month or so, nothing with any kind of responsability since I don't plan to work there very long. I saw HMV was hirring a assistant manager... I like the sound of that for a month. and then, I have three weddings to go to this summer. My friends Nathan and Dan are getting married (not to each other) and my dad is getting married again over the august long weekend. So once those are done and over with, I'm going a road trip. To Victoria, B.C.

In rez, there are about 10 of us in the fast track program. most are in photojournalism and 2 of us are in Broadcast journalism. in my apartment, there's 2 photoJ students, one print journalism guy and I. Across the hall there are 6 girls. 4 in photoJ, 1 in print and 1 in Broadcast Journlism. I hang around the photoJ students most of the time. I get to learn a lot from them, for free. They are all pretty cool. Especially this one girl, Heather. I have fallen pretty hard for her, and I think its the same for her. She is the reason I want to go to BC this summer. She found jobs for me before I had found some here for myself. at first, I thought she was just a cool girl from BC, and the more I got to know her, the more we had in common, and really now, its a full blown infatuation with this girl. Being with her is jsut so easy, its almost spooky how fast we've fallen. I'll go west for a month and she'll drive back here with me in september. we were supposed to stay in rez, but all of us in the fast track program have kind of realized that that would be a terrible idea, seeing as everyone else would be 3-4 years younger than me. Some of my roomates are 30, 40 years old. Like Ron, 42 year old Philipino, he's become the rez uncle. gives great advice and even offered his place in the philipines if anyone wants a cheap vacation...

She is the reason I want to go to BC for the entire summer.

Bonjour bonjour!

Week 4 of the fast track program, we started TV news on monday. All week long we work on one part of building a news story, a 90 second news story. Next week we'll have to do it in a day or two. They give us a 500GB hard drive for all our footage. So I started playing around, ill try to finish a home version tonight. Tomorrow we learn about Final Cut Pro, I,ll see how my home version compares. Ill try to post it later tonight.
Meanwhile, every tuesday night there is a classic car gathering in the Zeller's parking lot. There weren't a lot of cars, but like one old guy said, it's still a bit chilly for the 'rich white guys' to hang out with their Knights of Columbus buddies.
But I did like this car...

Radio Debut

Howdy y'all.
Damn, all this country music is really getting to me.

Anyways, a little update from down the road.
The long weekend was just that, long. It was windy, cold, rainy, gray.
I made crêpes for 8 of the people left on the floor. The crêpes were a hit. Something about sugar overload just works. You might ask why I would go through the trouble of making that may crepes. did I mention I was the only guy left in rez. i like that ratio.
I had a Godfather marathon, didnt make it through all of them because it took 8 hours to get through the first two.

Today was my first day of on air work. I did the sports news at 7, 8, 9, and 12.
The local cops were having their torch run for special olympics at 11, so I recorded my bit for the 12 news (nothing happens in the sports world before 12, unless its an athlete getting busted)
So I went to the torch run finish line and talked to the cop in charge of the run, talked to on of the coaches, had some free pizza then on my way back to school I turned it to our station just in time for the news.
It was pretty exhilirating and weird at the same time.

its on the web here. A guy in the two year program works full time during the summer doing the morning news. He's the one talking. My bit is about 4 minutes in.

I've been kinda lazy with the picture posts. Here's a couple pics from this weekend's Fly-Ball competition.

It was inside an arena and with only the cealing lights, it was hard to get any of the dogs to be clear and non-blurry in the pictures. They moved damn fast. It was clear they had no idea it was a competition, despite what their owners think. The dogs were in it for the fun. Seeing the way the dogs played with each other, it kinda reminded me of playing hockey as a kid. It's all for the fun of running over gates and getting a ball.
