  • Common Attacks Against Reformed Theology

    Recommended:

    Hell's Best Kept Secret

Why do 80-90% of those making a decision for Christ fall away from the faith? What is the principle that Spurgeon, Wesley, Whitefield, etc., used to reach the lost? Why has the Church neglected it? Don't let anything stop you from listening to this incredible teaching.

We encourage you to print off these free study sheets you can fill out while listening to the message.

    True and False Conversion
This teaching is foundational, and goes hand in hand with Hell's Best Kept Secret. It is very important that you understand it, as it will have great bearing on how you spend your time, and how you share the principles of God's Word. If you have ever wondered why so much of the Church looks and acts just like the world, you will love this teaching.

We encourage you to print off these free study sheets you can fill out while listening to the message.

Below is an excellent 12 part series by Dr James White on common misconception against Reformed theology.

I've been busy lately finishing up my last assignment for my degree so I will not be posting anything for 2 weeks. This would probably take you more then that to listen though. Take time to go through them. They are really good.

Thanks to Lane Chaplin for these sermons.

Another excellent sermon by Paul Washer on Joel Osteen and Self Esteem. Christ Esteem vs. High Self-Esteem. Listen to this video. Sadly, many modern churches are teaching pop-psychology and high self-esteem, instead of Christ-esteem which involves us coming with low self-esteem and brokenness, and focusing instead on the greatest and glory of God and in doing so, receive joy in Christ alone. Positive confessions,  health-wealth-prosperity preaching and the "Your Best life Now" preachers demonstrate that they do not understand what it means to be Christ-esteem.

Does the Bible say that Jesus is God?

It is not uncommon Jehovah Witnesses, Muslims, etc to claim that the New Testament never says that Jesus is God.
This video covers some verses to show that the Bible clearly and explicitly say that Jesus is God.

Heb 1:1  Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2  but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world

Genesis 1:1 -In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Heb 1:3  He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Heb 1:4  having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Heb 1:5  For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"?

Heb 1:6  And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

Heb 1:7  Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire."

Heb 1:8  But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

Heb 1:9  You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."

    Heb 1:10  And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;
ps19:1 - To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Heb 1:11  they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,

Heb 1:12  like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end."

Heb 1:13  And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?
Ps110:1 - A Psalm of David. The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool."

Heb 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Paul washer 1) The Good News 2) Decisionism

I was really blessed this week by Lane Chaplin. I purchased two second hand books from him on ebay at an excellent price.

    1) The Inspiration and Authority of the Bible
    and
    2) The person and Work of Christ

Both by Benjamin B Warfield. 400+ to 500+ pages each. USD$25.10. He included a number of free resources in the package as well that really made my day.

    3) Heidelberg Catechism - 20th century Edition
    4) Luther's Smaller Catechism
    5) The sovereignty of God - A W Pink
    6) A Christian Manifesto - Francis A Schaeffer
    7) A brand new Esword CD in Factory Wrap.

Excellent titles! Wow. It really made my day. Thank you so much Lane. I'll put the books to good use. The Esword was particularly useful as I have been having problems getting Esword to work on my new computer when I download it from the web. It works perfectly fine with the CD though.

The other day, I dropped by the Christian Reformed bookstore at Gateway Presbyterian Church. It was a small dusty bookshelf. No other customers. You need to ring the doorbell and the pastor will come down and open the shop for you. They have excellent books. If you are looking for academic, theological or older Christian classics that are no longer in print, you got to check out that shop. It's not like koorong where everything is commerialized and pretty but filled with dodgy books. The books here are quality stuff. I got a number of books and was given a good discount. Some were second hand. Will take them to Singapore to read.

    1) The Invisible Hand - Do all things really work for good? By R. C. Sproul.
    2) First John - a commentary (recommended by the pastor) by Gordon H Clark
    3) The Justification of God - An Exegetical and Theological Sstudy of Romans 9:1-23 by John Piper
(This is the best book on the topic. A heavy and academic read but excellent content. Already have a copy but I got this one as a gift for my pastor)
    4) Back to the Basics - Rediscovering the Richness of the Reformed Faith. Edited by David Hagopian
(The pastor at the bookshop recommended this book)
    5) Faith and Saving Faith by Gordon Clark
    6) Growing in God's Spirit by Jonathan Edwards
    7) Healing and Holiness - A Biblical response to the Faith-Healing Phenomenon by Samuel Storms
    8) The Biblical doctrine of Man by Gordon Clark

I got lots of reading to do once I get back to Singapore in 3 weeks time.

Some lighter moments in the midst of assignments. At DFO and Toowong.

About Me

  • A philophical Christian Hedonese. My passion is Creation Science, Christian Apologetics and Evangelism. I believe in a literal 6000+ years, 6 24-hour day creation of the universe as stated in the bible - and as supported by empirical science. I believe that belief in the theory of evolution undermines the Christian faith and that evolution is pseudo-science - an unsound hypothesis that is not consistent with scientific evidence and a belief system that promotes the religion of atheism and humanism. The lack of 'genetic-complexity-increasing mutations' and advances in the field of Genetics mark the death of the theory of evolution - and in turn, the religion of humanism. This is supported by the fact that "All point mutations studied at the molecular level reduces genetic information and not increase it. - Dr. Lee Spetner, pg 138, "Not by Chance" Also an amateur Illusionist and fossil collector.
