The short and long term threat from radical Islam is overwhelming.
-Outrage by Sweden Muslims due to the Integration Minister’s suggestions that honor killings (a nasty trademark of how Islam views women) get a mention in the criminal code and that girls undergo compulsory checks for Female Genital Mutilation. (FGM, called the “crime of love” by Muslims is also a big problem the Brits are trying to fight)
-In France police unions state that Muslims are waging civil war with them as an AVERAGE of 14 officers are injured a DAY in conflicts. They are now requesting armored vehicles.
-In Thailand, Islamic rebels are targeting teachers. Buddhist teachers are now taking state sponsored gun classes to protect themselves and their students.
-A Muslim policeman refuses to guard the Israeli Embassy in London and is given a different assignment. No word on if he’ll stand up for Jews anywhere else as a paid public ‘servant.’
-“Police have agreed to consult a panel of Muslim leaders before mounting counter-terrorist raids or arrests. Members of the panel will offer their assessment of whether information police have on a suspect is too flimsy and will also consider the consequences on community relations of a raid.”
-The British Home Secretary was rebuked by an Islamic Cleric for “daring to visit” a predominately Muslim area in London.
-The biggest evangelical church in Europe (12,000 worshipers) is coming down to make way for the London’s 2012 Olympic stadium as than a mile away the largest mosque in Europe is being planned that will hold at least 40,000 worshipers.
-Almost one in 10 British Muslims would not inform police if they suspected that someone of the same faith was involved in a terror attack, a poll suggested. With a Muslim population aged over 16 in Britain of around one million, that would translate to 90,000 “turning a blind eye”, the newspaper said.
-The Supreme Court lets stand a ruling by the 9th Circuit that OKs school curriculum in which students memorize the Koran and do a play ‘fast’ to better understand Muslims.
-At the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport three quarters of the cabbies are Muslims who refuse to carry passengers they know have any kind of alcohol. Oh, and those “unclean” Seeing Eye dogs blind passengers have are on the ‘no can service’ list too.

There are days that a weight falls from your shoulders when you realize that there is SOMEone who is leading the charge for sanity that many in this country have abandoned. That man is the Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, who is now serving his third term as PM. Other leaders in Australian government seem to get it too:
Accept Austrailian Values Or "Clear Off"
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told recently to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir-apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by Parliament. “If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you”, he said on national television.
“I’d be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can’t agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that’s a better option”, Costello said.
Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said, those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should “clear off. Basically people who don’t want to be Australians, and who don’t want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off”, he said.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. “Immigrants, not Australians, must adapt. Take it or leave it. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.”
“However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. “This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom”
“We speak mainly English, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!”
“We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don’t care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.
“This is our country, our land, and our lifestyle, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘the right to leave’.”
“If you aren’t happy here then leave. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country you accepted.”

So the US and the world have a problem. What do we do?
The best summary that I’ve come across so far on how we can defeat radical Islam has been put together by the Progressive Policy Institute (and promoted by the Democratic Leadership Council) in the book “With All Our Might.”
“The book WITH ALL OUR MIGHT proceeds from three premises: First, defeating Islamist extremism is America’s top security imperative. Second, victory demands a new strategy that is both tough and smart. Third, progressives should stop reacting to President Bush and start leading on national security.”
I basically agree with all of its main points here:
- Support Muslim modernizers.
- Create a Grand Strategy for the Middle East.
- Seed liberal democracy.
- Revive Muslim economies.
- Shape the global battlefield.
- Prevent nuclear terrorism.
- Strike a grand bargain with Pakistan.
- Create a post-9/11 military.
- Reconcile Democrats and the military.
- Don’t fear a strong Europe.
- Reinvent the United Nations.
- Put the economy on a wartime footing.
- Spur a post-oil economy.
- Tap the patriotic spirit of the 9/11 generation.
In short, while I am seriously discouraged by how this struggle with radical Islam has been going internationally, I see some hope and there is a plan to win. But the costs getting to that victory might be huge. Liberty will be worth it.
