Interests: YIKES! I didn't realize how outdated my interest section was!
I've graduated from high school this spring, and I'm now starting a 3 year corrospondence course in midwifery. Lord willing, I will apprentice with a midwife this summer and begin to actually learn the hands on aspect of midwifery.
I'm no longer taking music lessons of any sort. I'm still keeping up with violin, and piano and hammered dulcimer get played at varying degrees. However, music is still a consuming interest! My family and I are now doing a monthly nursing home music ministry which is definetly stretching our horizons.
I'm pretty much decided that my absolut favorite style of music is folk. Specificly Irish, Scottish, American and Austrailian. Classical, bluegrass, souther gospel, and hymns are the other styles I enjoy.
Other interests: cooking, open fire cooking, sewing, reading, debating, learning, photography, writing, decorating, and blogging. Expertise: Sewing, anything from work to formal clothing, and cooking (well I think I'm good at it:) cleaning, babysitting. Occupation: Student Industry: Textiles

| I've been very busy lately but I found time to give y'all a short list of exactly what I've been up to!
Last weekend I went with several of my siblings to DC for the Freedom March. It was huge, though you'd never know it from the media attention it got. But then we all know that the media hides from true news!
So other than that, Mom and Dad are both gone so it's been Daniel, Judah, Ab, Oliver and I at home. Things have been going pretty smoothly.
Steph came over on Monday and we canned a bunch of blueberry lime jam, which taste FABULOUS! I also took all the green beans we've harvested from our garden and made Dilly Beans with them. Basically dilly beans are green beans canned in dill pickle brine. They taste SOOO good!
We had a great time at Julianna's game night on Tuesday! Lots of good food and fun games-- haha, bet you NEVER would have guessed we played games, huh?!
On Wednesday Ab and I creamed, cooked and froze 48 ears of corn. I also pulled all the rest of our beets, which gave me enough to make four pints of pickled beets. The kind that are sweet and sour. Oh, sooo yummy! And I came across a recipe I'm dying to try! It's for pickled summer squash.... I really want to give it a shot and see how it tastes!
Then, on Thursday I decided to strip the dining room table. You see, our table had the worlds worst finish... it was flawed from the time we got it. It was sticky and goopy all the time. However, whatever the finish was they used, it sure didn't like to come off there! I did 6 rounds of stripper before it was mostly clean, then I just sanded the rest off. But now my arms are soooo sore from all the scraping it took to get that crazy finish off! Anyway, it looks worlds better now, and currently the third coat of our new finish is drying. I think I'm going to do two more coats to ensure it's well finished. Then, we're going to give it a week to cure before using it again.
Tomorrow I think Ab is going out to Judah's house with him for the day. Lord willing, I'll be getting my car, finally!!! And tomorrow night I'm working.

| A strong dollar?I was reading a Yahoo news article this morning, and one sentence literaly made me laugh out loud. "A stronger dollar also helped keep prices lower by discouraging investors from pumping more money into commodities." Seriously, who do they think they're kidding? Everyone knows the dollar is so weak right now that if every one in America managed to blink at the same time it would go crashing down when they all opened their eyes. | | |
| Valley Forge, PAI recently went on a photo shoot at Valley Forge, and in the next couple blogs, I'm going to share some of my favorites with all of you. Feel free to critique and comment all you wish on them... any tips or advice would be appreciated!
And just a note, which I'm sure is not needed... I'd appreciate it if no one viewing these uses them without my permission. Thanks! | | |
