  • You Are Loved By God!

[This text is from the first web page I ever built, nearly ten years ago. I thought I would share it here. May God bless all who read it.]

    You Are Loved

    Dear Friend,

    You are loved!

You are loved personally and passionately by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Just the fact that God created you and continues to sustain you means that He loves you! "But You have mercy on all, because You can do all things; and You overlook the sins of men that they may repent. For You love all things that are and loathe nothing that You have made; for what You hated, You would not have fashioned. And how could a thing remain, unless You willed it; or be preserved, had it not been called forth by You? But You spare all things, because they are Yours, O Lord and lover of souls, for Your imperishable spirit is in all things!" (Wisdom 11:23-26) NAB

God created you as one-of-a-kind. You are unrepeatable! You bring delight to the Father's heart! He treasures you! NO ONE ELSE CAN LOVE HIM LIKE YOU CAN!!!

The Father delights in you uniqueness and specialness. He enjoys you! You are not just another number in His eyes! You add your own special flavor and fragrance to the world.

The Father loves you just as much as He loves Jesus! "And I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as we are one, I in them and You in Me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know You sent Me, AND THAT YOU LOVED THEM EVEN AS YOU LOVE ME." (John 17:22-23) NAB

The Father loves you just as much as if you were the only person in the entire universe! He is madly, passionately in love with you!

God created you to know, love, and serve Him in this life, and TO BE HAPPY WITH HIM IN THE NEXT. He loves you so very much and He thinks you are so special that He wants you to spend Eternity with Him in total bliss! WOW!

The Lord has a plan for your life. He wants good things for you even more than you do! "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope." (Jeremiah 29:11) NAB

The Father never forgets you. He will never forsake you! "But Zion said, 'The Lord has forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me.' Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you. See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name, your walls are ever before me." (Isaiah 49:14-16) NAB

He is a compassionate Father. "As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear Him." (Psalm 103:13) NRSV

The Father cared about you so much that He sent His very best to show you how much He cares. He sent JESUS! "For God so loved the world (insert your name here) that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes is him may have eternal life." (John 3:16) NAB

We need Jesus! Apart from Him we can do nothing. We cannot earn God's love, forgiveness, and salvation. "Behold, You are angry, and we are sinful; all our good deeds are like polluted rags; and our guilt carries us away like the wind." (Isaiah 64:5) NAB

Jesus emptied Himself of the glory of Heaven to become one of us. He was like us in all things but sin. He suffered everything you have suffered, and more, out of love for you. He suffered a gruesome and excruciatingly painful death for love of you. Jesus came as a servant to you, His creature. What utter humility!

"I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard; my face I did not shield from buffets and spitting." (Isaiah 50:6) NAB

"He was despised and rejected by others; a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity; and as one from whom others hide their faces he was despised, and we held him of no account. Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all..." (Isaiah 53:3-6) NRSV

Jesus died for YOU personally. He would have lovingly died this gruesome and shameful death just for you even if you were the only person in the whole world. He thinks you are worth it.

" But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us, EVEN WHEN WE WERE DEAD IN OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, brought us to life with Christ (by grace you have been saved), raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, that in ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:4-7) NAB

Jesus loves you... Not just if, when, or because you are doing something "good". We can't even desire to do good unless He gives us that desire.

Jesus loves you EVERY DAY! Every hour. Every minute. Every second. All the time. Not just when you are having a good day. Not just when the people around you are having a good day. He loves you lavishly no matter how you feel, no matter what your circumstances are.

Jesus thirsts for your love. He loves you so deeply; you are His Bride. You ravish His heart. It breaks His heart when you reject His love. He is Love, hungering and thirsting for your love, the love of His creature. What awesome, tender humility He has!

Jesus is able and willing to bring wondrous and wildly unimaginable good out of ALL the pain, trials, and tragedies of your life... if you will turn to Him and trust Him. "We know all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) NRSV

Jesus didn't leave you as an orphan when He ascended to the Father. He sent His Holy Spirit. The Paraclete. The Advocate. The Comforter.

The Holy Spirit loves you! He has so very much to give you.

Holy Spirit, You who are the Love between the Father and the Son, please take me and place me in the center of the life and presence of the Trinity. Fix me between the loving gaze of the Father and the Son. Help me to realize how deep Your love for me is, the love that You have had for me even before my conception. I truly want my life to be infused with Your Divine wisdom, love, and grace so that I might follow your masterful plan for my life. May the fire of Your love in me touch others, leading them to You and Your great love for them. Amen.

Dear Friend, Jesus has written you into His story. He is calling to you. He stands at the door of your heart and He knocks. Will you let Him in? Will you pray this prayer with me?

Lord Jesus Christ, Risen Savior, King of Kings, Son of God, son of man, I come before you just as I am, acknowledging my sinfulness and my personal weaknesses. Without you I am nothing, with you, I have everything. O Master, I ask for an increase in faith, hope and love. With praise and thanksgiving I place before you the following needs. (Here ask for whatever you need, little or big, spiritual or material. Don't hesitate to ask Jesus for anything... He loves you.)

O Risen Lord, I offer you my life and I truly accept you as my Lord and my God. I surrender to you as my personal Savior and I repent of my sins. I am sorry for having offended you. I unite my sufferings with yours on the cross and I ask to be more deeply unified with you in your Resurrection.

Give me good health in body, soul and spirit. Let your Holy Spirit dwell within my heart. Allow me to experience your Father's love. As you lived with Mary and Joseph, so live within my home and bless every member of my family. I declare you the Lord of my house and ask for the protection of your Precious Blood over my loved ones.

I love you, Jesus Christ; I praise you Lord. I shall follow you as your disciple every day of my life. Through your Spirit, your Bible and your Church, teach me your ways. I desire to live in you, with you, for you and through you, my Risen Lord, now and forever. Amen.

You have just made Jesus very happy!

  • Election Novena

Father Pavone recently announced a nine-week "Novena of Prayer"
starting tomorrow September 1, to prepare for our national elections.
The Novena will finish on Monday, November 3, the day before Election Day.

Fr. Pavone put it this way: "The intentions of this prayer are that
citizens participate in an active and informed way in the elections,
and that their voting choices are wise. Wisdom means that we see
things from God's perspective, put first things first, and discern
what's important and what's not. One of the practical effects of such
wisdom is that we realize that when the state fails to protect the
right to life, it ceases to be a true democracy and instead becomes a
    tyrant state."

    Here are the Novena prayers:

"O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord, not only of individuals, but
of nations and governments. We thank you for the privilege of being
able to organize ourselves politically and of knowing that political
loyalty does not have to mean disloyalty to you.

We thank you for your law, which our Founding Fathers acknowledged and
recognized as higher than any human law. We thank you for the
opportunity that this election year puts before us, to exercise our
solemn duty not only to vote, but to influence countless others to
    vote, and to vote correctly.

Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened. Let them realize that
while politics is not their salvation, their response to you requires
    that they be politically active.

Awaken your people to know that they are not called to be a sect
fleeing the world but rather a community of faith renewing the world.
Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer are the
hands that pull the lever in the voting booth; that the same eyes that
read your Word are the eyes that read the names on the ballot, and
that they do not cease to be Christians when they enter the voting booth.
Awaken your people to a commitment to justice to the sanctity of
marriage and the family, to the dignity of each individual human life,
and to the truth that human rights begin when human lives begin, and
not one moment later. Lord, we rejoice today that we are citizens of
    your kingdom.

May that make us all the more committed to being faithful citizens on
earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

  • Entire EWTN Audio Library Available for Your MP3 Player/iPod for FREE!

Entire EWTN Audio Library Available for Your MP3 Player/iPod for FREE!

It has happily come to my attention this past week that EWTN's entire audio library of all of their past television series, is now available in MP3 format. It used to be that all of the series were in Real Audio, but thankfully, EWTN is developing the good sense to grow disenchanted with that.

The link to the main index page of the EWTN audio library is at
    http://www.ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/intro.asp

Note: Some program episodes aren't any bigger file sizes than 3 MB, while the monthly podcast offerings are over 20 MB per episode. If you don't download the monthly podcasts, and if you only have a mere dial up internet connection, you should still be able to download a lot of  wonderful Catholic programs!

I am truly so happy that EWTN has finally changed over the audio library from Real Audio to MP3, thus making these treasures of series accessible to our MP3 players and iPods!!

    Glory to God!

Saintly Wisdom & Encouragement for August 2008

Saintly Wisdom & Encouragement for August 2008

Of all the movements, sensations and feelings of the soul, love is the only one in which the creature can respond to the Creator and make some sort of similar return however unequal though it be. - Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1170)

    ***

There is no danger if our prayer is without words or reflection because the good success of prayer depends neither on words nor on study. It depends upon the simple raising of our minds to God, and the more simple and stripped of feeling it is, the surer it is. - Saint Jeanne de Chantal (1572-1841)

    ***

God is there in these moments of rest and can give us in a single instant exactly what we need. Then the rest of the day can take its course, under the same effort and strain, perhaps, but in peace. - Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (1891-1942)

    ***

The most deadly poison of our times is indifference. And this happens, although the praise of God should know no limits. Let us strive, therefore, to praise Him to the greatest extent of our powers. - Saint Maximilian Kolbe (1894-1941)

    ***

We are called against the "popular world view" illustrating that we are called to bear witness to a culture of life that finds its reward in eternal life. That we are called to "resist the culture of hatred and death regardless of the guise which it may assume. - Pope John Paul II (Beatification of Blessed Karl Leisner)

    ***

I can say from my own experience how painful life often is when one lives as a halfway Christian; it is more like vegetating than living. - Blessed Franz Jägerstätter (1907-1943)

    ***

Value your Crosses as the most precious presents from a good and loving God. - Blessed Mary Mackillop (1842-1909)

    ***

The only happiness here below is to strive to be always content with what Jesus gives us. - St. Therese, The Little Flower

    ***

He who wills only what God wills possesses all that he desires. For whatever happens to him, happens by the will of God. - St. Alphonsus Liguori

    ***

Do not scrutinize so closely whether you are doing much or little, ill or well, so long as what you do is not sinful and that you are heartily seeking to do everything for God. Try as far as you can to do everything well, but when it is done, do not think about it. Try, rather, to think of what is to be done next. Go on simply in the Lord's way, and do not torment yourself. We ought to hate our faults, but with a quiet, calm hatred; not pettishly and anxiously. - St. Francis de Sales

Heroic Virtue Recognized in Italian Youth Who Died in 1990

VATICAN CITY, JULY 3, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI authorized the promulgation of decrees attributing miracles to five causes, including that of Louis and Marie-Celie Martin, parents of St. Thérèse.

The Pope received in private audience today Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, prefect of the Congregation for Saints' Causes. The Holy Father authorized the promulgation of decrees concerning the following causes:

    Miracles were attributed to:

-- Blessed, Father Damian de Veuster, Belgian professed priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (1840-1889).

-- Blessed Bernardo Tolomei, Italian founder of the Olivetan Benedictine Congregation (1272-1348).

-- Blessed Nuño di Santa Maria Álvares Pereira, Portuguese professed layman of the Order of Friars of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (1360-1431). A decree recognizing his heroic virtue was also approved.

-- Servant of God Louis Martin, French layman (1823-1894) and Servant of God Marie-Zélie Guerin Martin, French laywoman (1831-1877).

Italian Servant of God Francesco Giovanni Bonifacio (1912-1946), killed because of hatred of the faith at Villa Gardossi, Italy, was recognized as a martyr.

And seven more people were recognized as having lived lives of heroic virtue:

-- Stephen Douayhy, Lebanese patriarch of Antioch of the Maronites (1630-1704).

-- Bernardino Dal Vago da Portogruaro (born Giuseppe), Italian archbishop of the Order of Friars Minor (1822-1895).

-- Giuseppe Di Donna, Italian bishop of Andria, of the Order of the Blessed Trinity (1901-1952).

    - Maria Barbara of the Blessed Trinity Maix (born Barbara), Austrian founder of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (1818-1873).

-- Pius Keller (born Hans), German professed priest of the Order of St. Augustine (1825-1904).

-- Andrés Hibernón Garmendia (born Francisco Andres), Spanish professed brother of the Institute of Brothers of Christian Schools (1880- 1969).

-- Chiara Badano, young Italian lay woman (1971-1990).

Wisdom from St. Anthony of Padua

Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.

  • St. Columba of Ireland's Prayer for God's Light

    Prayer for God's Light

O Lord, grant us that love which can never die, which will enkindle our lamps but not extinguish them, so that they may shine in us and bring light to others. Most dear Savior, enkindle our lamps that they may shine forever in your temple. May we receive unquenchable light from you so that our darkness will be illuminated and the darkness of the world will be made less.

    Amen.

  • St. Louis de Montfort's Prayer to Jesus

    Prayer to Jesus

O most loving Jesus, deign to let me pour forth my gratitude before Thee, for the grace Thou hast bestowed upon me in giving me to Thy holy Mother through the devotion of Holy Bondage, that she may be my advocate in the presence of Thy majesty and my support in my extreme misery. Alas, 0 Lord! I am so wretched that without this dear Mother I should be certainly lost. Yes, Mary is necessary for me at Thy side and everywhere: that she may appease Thy just wrath, because I have so often offended Thee; that she may save me from the eternal punishment of Thy justice, which I deserve; that she may contemplate Thee, speak to Thee, pray to Thee, approach Thee and please Thee; that she may help me to save my soul and the souls of others; in short, Mary is necessary for me that I may always do Thy holy will and seek Thy greater glory in all things. Ah, would that I could proclaim throughout the whole world the mercy that Thou hast shown to me! Would that everyone might know I should be already damned, were it not for Mary! Would that I might offer worthy thanksgiving for so great a blessing! Mary is in me. Oh, what a treasure! Oh, what a consolation! And shall I not be entirely hers'? Oh, what ingratitude! My dear Saviour, send me death rather than such a calamity, for I would rather die than live without belonging entirely to Mary. With Saint John the Evangelist at the foot of the Cross, I have taken her a thousand times for my own and as many times have given myself to her; but if I have not yet done it as Thou, dear Jesus, dost wish, I now renew this offering as Thou dost desire me to renew it. And if Thou seest in my soul or my body anything that does not belong to this august princess, I pray Thee to take it and cast it far from me, for whatever in me does not belong to Mary is unworthy of Thee.

O Holy Spirit, grant me all these graces. Plant in my soul the Tree of true Life, which is Mary; cultivate it and tend it so that it may grow and blossom and bring forth the fruit of life in abundance. 0 Holy Spirit, give me great devotion to Mary, Thy faithful spouse; give me great confidence in her maternal heart and an abiding refuge in her mercy, so that by her Thou mayest truly form in me Jesus Christ, great and mighty, unto the fullness of His perfect age. Amen.

    - Saint Louis de Montfort

About Me

  • The Saints are your big brothers and sisters in the Lord and they love YOU! As they behold the Beatific Vision, they also see your sufferings, trials, tears, fears, and hidden crosses, and they care about YOU deeply, in union with the Holy Trinity. They are more fully alive and more fully loving than they were even here upon earth. They are with God, and to be with God means to love you as He loves you, and that is deeply, unconditionally, radically, affectionately, and lavishly. My aim in publishing this blog is to remind all of us that when the circumstances of our lives leave us feeling alone - abandoned - forsaken by family and friends, the Lord God has given us - you and me - the communion of Saints to cheer us on, to intercede for us, to encourage us by the example of their lives, and most of all to point us to Jesus. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! YOU ARE PART OF GOD'S FAMILY!!!
