Christianity Doesn't Work w/o Jesus

Sometimes I regret what slips from my mouth in moments of corporate exhortation. . . like a month ago when I said, "If Christianity is the opiate of the masses . . . then pass me the pipe!" Not something that should be published. . but last night in an unmeditated moment it was said, "From my experience Christianity doesn't work with out Jesus" I know . . profound. . or not?  However, I have a tendency to try it . . I employ the rules the regulations the vocabulary and whala christianity minus Jesus. It reminds me now of a verse ". . . having a form of godliness but denying its power." 2Tim3:5 Maybe the end times are upon us after all!

Generation Resource

A recent quote from U2's Bono has sparked my imagination:

In relating his passion and purpose Bono explains that our generation is, "the first generation to have the technology and the resources to turn around these issues (those plagueing our planet) I can't think of anything else I want to be a part of."

So, what if the church was on that kind of a mission. A mission that understood that we have not only a message about the afterlife, but one that impacts and empowers this life. That we take our resources, experitise, and employ them not simply for our own gratification and glorification but for something larger. For God, for others. . maybe we can be the first generation within the church to turn around these issues. . and in so doing turn around the trends that are destroying the church?

I can't think of anything else I want to be a part of!!!

Great Questions

I believe that great answers are formed only from great questions.  However, maybe you have been taught to believe that questioning anything faith related or God related was not right. Or maybe you were taught that you must question everything and can be certain of no true answer.  I think the err in both extremes is apperant.  In the first sitaution one is one is not allowed to be honest with their human experience, deny reason and simply recieve with out questioning what we recieve which is against all human experience. i.e. I don't take a drink of coffee without questioning at some level its delectibility.  Or, we question all things, and thus exalt the question over the answer. In fact, there are no answers only questions . . . which in turn makes the questioning irrelevent anyway!  So, where do we land? Good Question!  where do you land? Once again, i believe that great answers can be formed but only from great questions.  Warning: Truth must be handled with extreme humility.  i must acknowledge that even my "great answers" can be challenged and changed. Does that make them less than absolute? that is another blog

"Faith is Grounded in a Few Answers, But lived in the Questions" Pastor Juli Nelson

If your in the Springfield area bring your great questions to the white house on Wednesday night for discussion. You will have an opportunity to ask the toughest of questions and together we will explore the Truth.

Much love and keep the peace,

4th of July

Fireworks are cool.  We didn't ask if it was okay but we lit some firworks for clay's first 4th of July. My dad and step-Mom were in town for the weekend to visit their grandson.  We had a great time and Clay is growing fast!
