I have not written on xanga in a long while.  In fact, I have not written much of anything (expect wedding thank-you notes) in a while.  I'm beginning to wonder if I still even know how to write and maybe that's why I've been avoiding posting anything on xanga.  Once you quit disciplining yourself to write concisely, it's a lot harder to type a xanga entry without a lot of work.
Also, it seems that I don't have all that much to say...at least on xanga.  Some of you may not believe me, and others may feel a great disappointment in me, but my life has not been nearly has dramatic as it has been for the past 22 years.   I haven't done anything crazy lately, nor have I done anything stupid either (that I know of).
However, for those of you interested, I now have a job.  That is exciting:)!!  I've been working at a bank as a teller for over a month now.  It is really the perfect job for me because I enjoy it and I enjoy going to work (unlike most people in the world).  I may not be the best at it yet, but I'm learning so that always makes life interesting.  And of course, there are the ever interesting customers that do a random assortment of things.  Take for instance, this Saturday: I was sitting at the drive-thru and a customer walked through.  We did business as he stood outside the window.  It made things a little more complicated because he kept getting in the way of the drawer whenever I tried to give him stuff through it.  And when we were done, he walked away.  I guess he saved some gas.
The rest of my life seems a bit out of control.  Working, cooking, keeping up with a house, and working out just won't seem to fit into one day.  Also, finding a new home church is an extremely difficult, and rather depressing job.
But then again, it's almost Christmas.  Hud and I bought our first tree and put our few meager ornaments on it (pictures coming soon) and we are both pretty proud of it.  We are also both on a strike against Santa Clause this Christmas.  It seems that Santa is trying his very hardest to replace Jesus.  We went downtown in Chattanooga to watch the city light up and they had a Christmas program.  Some people in the city tried to get the live nativity scene banned, but so many people were upset that they had to have it.  However, the main show was ALL about Santa Clause and how  Santa was everyone's hero and basically saying Santa was the reason for the season.  I don't think either of us have ever seen Santa praised so much.  It was rather sicking to see him dance around stage and sing Christmas song that carefully avoid anything to do with God.
At the same time, it's such a good reminder to focus on Christ and why He was born, what He came to do, and how He lived.  And how important it is to teach our children that Christmas is not about Santa and getting stuff, but about Christ bring life and light to the world.  May we always pass this on to those around us and to our future children.

I don't know what part of Knoxville you're in, but my Dad pastors First Baptist Bluegrass, on the corner of Ebenezer and North Shore. I know my family would love to see a college friend of mine :) The church hunting thing is hard, and life is a lot more demanding than college ever was.

ah, Pretty Pink Princess has gone blue! Bob and I were downtown that night, too: we went for the boat parade and waited for the fireworks. I think that's the coldest two hours I've ever spent in my life! We were both freezing and out of cash to buy more hot chocolate. As far as churches go, it'd always be cool to see y'all at Redeemer (17th street, between Cumberland and the interstate), but it's Presbyterian, and I know you're Baptist. ;) Glad you're enjoying bank tellering... if that's a word! Off to chemie final!

Becca! it's so good to hear how you are! I miss you dear friend! yay for your first Christmas married! you get to start family traditions...so much fun :) sorry that the church hunt is still frustrating... oh, and agree with you about Santa :) I'm doing really well overall. the Schmidts are pretty much amazing. Jon and Karen are pretty much still crazy about each other after 25 years of marriage, and it's such a joy to observe the delight they take in each other :) being a part of their family has been a huge blessing. my first day of real teaching was today...it actually went well. I was really afraid that it was going to be horrible (it certainly had the potential) but the Lord was gracious--truly, truly He was. He was definitely guiding my thoughts and words--because I am not the best at explaining things, but I actually explained things pretty well today. ok, well, this has turned into an email... I love you. I miss you :) I'll try to send you a real email sometime :)

Hey there Becca! The wonderful thing is that in the Christian life, everyday is a celebration of Christ's birth and what He has accomplished for us on the cross. It is sad Santa has replaced Christ for Christmas, but it is equally sad that so many Christians fail to celebrate Christ's birthday daily. I love you tons! On a less serious not, I am finished with FINALS...all 6 of them. YFL!!!!!!
