My new favorite site in all the world is
Hulu. On Hulu, you can watch movies, tv shows, etc. for free! And it's completely legal and pretty good quality. The only thing is most of the videos have to pause for a little commercial break but it's only 15-30 seconds. That's how it's legal, they make deals with the companies and they allow it with 'limited commercial interruption'. It's pretty darn sweet, especially because they have old shows like Emergency (one of my personal favorites), Barney Miller, and Alias Smith and Jones. Some of the movies have a special thing where you can watch the movie without the commercials if you first watch a trailer. Sunday, I watched Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, with no commercials by first watching a trailer for Hell Boy 2. Actually, I shut off the sound, walked away for a couple minutes and by the time I came back, the trailer was over and I had only missed a bit of the opening credits.
If you don't mind older, slightly campy shows with okay acting, I'd recommend Emergency. It's about two firefighter paramedics in the 70's. If you're an ER person, don't even bother watching Emergency. And don't get me started on ER. Then there's Barney Miller, about New York's 12th precinct's detectives also set in the 70's.
All Hulu needs to do now, is make a deal with the food network and get Iron Chef America on there.
Oh, and for you people who don't like old shows and prefer ER and CSI, there are modern shows on the site too. ER, Law and Order, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to name a few. Now if you'll excuse me, I think Squad 51 just got another call....
