On Hulu, you can watch movies, tv shows, etc. for free! And it's completely legal and pretty good quality. The only thing is most of the videos have to pause for a little commercial break but it's only 15-30 seconds. That's how it's legal, they make deals with the companies and they allow it with 'limited commercial interruption'. It's pretty darn sweet, especially because they have old shows like Emergency (one of my personal favorites), Barney Miller, and Alias Smith and Jones. Some of the movies have a special thing where you can watch the movie without the commercials if you first watch a trailer. Sunday, I watched Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, with no commercials by first watching a trailer for Hell Boy 2. Actually, I shut off the sound, walked away for a couple minutes and by the time I came back, the trailer was over and I had only missed a bit of the opening credits.
If you don't mind older, slightly campy shows with okay acting, I'd recommend Emergency. It's about two firefighter paramedics in the 70's. If you're an ER person, don't even bother watching Emergency. And don't get me started on ER. Then there's Barney Miller, about New York's 12th precinct's detectives also set in the 70's.
All Hulu needs to do now, is make a deal with the food network and get Iron Chef America on there.
Oh, and for you people who don't like old shows and prefer ER and CSI, there are modern shows on the site too. ER, Law and Order, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to name a few. Now if you'll excuse me, I think Squad 51 just got another call....
Farewell

Joshua Matthew Sams
(January 7, 2008 - March 15, 2008)
Son
Brother
Grandson
Great-Grandson
Nephew
Cousin

Greatly Loved
Greatly Missed

Xanga Premium

Because of the xanga surveys giving you 2,000 xanga credits every time you complete one, I realized that my Xanga Premium-Life dream was much closer than I had previously thought. In order to buy Xanga Premium-Life with xanga credits, you need 100,000 xanga credits. Okay, I thought, only 50 surveys, a survey a day, 50 days, less than two months. Score. I can do this.........No, I can't. Apparently, I'm 'not qualified' to take most of the surveys. I've only taken two so far. And they keep telling me that they don't have any surveys for me and that I must check back later. Grr. I think it's something xanga's doing to keep everyone from buying Xanga Premium-Life with credits like it's goin' outta style.

Well, I'm off to clean my room or play Guitar Hero until mom makes me clean my room.
Friday, March 07, 2008

I really should be getting ready to leave for PI in a half hour but instead I'm sitting here in my pjs writing this and listening to Frank Sinatra. Oh, and singing along too.

I just wanted to post because Abbie posted about a cute little kid in Heaths that reminded me of this adorable little boy that went through my line with his parents about a month ago. He came up and put his hands on the counter and rested his nose on the top.
"Hi," he said very shyly.
"Hello." I smiled, I love little kids.
Suddenly he said, "You're sexy!" His mother turned bright red and proceeded to explain that you can't call ladies 'sexy', you call them beautiful.
Perfectly willing to correct his mistake, the little boy turned back to the counter. "You're beautiful, sexy lady!"
Needless to say, his mother just about dragged him out of the store and his father finished the transaction.

Please pray for me. Last August, one of my glands swelled list crazy until it was very very painful and I ended up in the ER. Turns out I had an infection in a salivary gland. The doctor put me on antibiotics, gave me morphine in the hospital, and a prescription for Vicodin because it was that painful. Well, a couple weeks ago, it came back but I recognized the symptoms and we went to my usual doctor before it got too bad. He gave me antibiotics which worked until the day before I ran out of pills. That morning I woke up and it was swollen again. Mom called my regular doctor but he was on vacation, but the nurses were a little worried so they called the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor that I saw on a follow-up after the hospital. He gave me the same antibiotics that other doctor did just a different dosage, he also took a culture, just in case. Wednesday, (the second round of antibiotics ran out Wed) his office called and said that the culture came back positive for some sort of staph that usually doesn't show up in the oral cavity. So he gave me a third round of antibiotics. Needless to say, it's still a little swollen and painful and my jaw is quite stiff. Please pray that this round of antibiotics will work and that I'll be able to eat.
New Layout

The old theme I had was getting a little well, old. So I poked around the xanga theme site (Which is rather obnoxious, btw. Because the themes aren't categorized, you have to refresh the page to see another random 8 or 10 themes, and you often get duplicates.) and found this one. I had to do a fair amount of fiddling, including getting a different theme for a bit, to figure out how to get the custom module in the footer. I had had two Josh Turner music videos there but I'd gotten rather bored with them. I wanted to keep music on there but a playlist was more to my taste. Hence the seeqpod playlist. I will probably add more music later but right now it has three Frank Sinatra songs and three Michael Buble songs.

I know we're really only into our second real week of practice but I'm having some trouble with my character. Sir Toby is just about the only character I can't figure out. He's a drunk! How hard can he be? You say. Yes, he's a drunk but he's a dignified drunk. An oximoron, I know, but it's true. I guess part of the reason I'm having trouble is I thought I'd had him figured out then yesterday Jan goes and says just about everything I thought was wrong. Toby is a much more complex character. Toby is the ring leader but he needs Maria to, to...I'm not exactly sure why he needs Maria, he just does. It's also difficult to adjust to the role. Toby was not the role I wanted or expected at all. I don't begrudge the girl who got the part I wanted, set my heart on and was expected to get. She seriously deserved it. She's an amazingly talented actress and I'm happy for her but Toby was not on my list of possible roles.
No advice, please. I would like to figure Toby out myself. As difficult as it might be.
Here Comes the Sun

While browsing the Featured Blogs on the main Xanga page, I stumbled, quite by accident, upon David Crowder's xanga. He had posted asking you to put your computer, mp3 player, etc. on shuffle and comment with the first ten songs that pop up, no matter how embarrassing and no cheating. I decided it sounded cool enough to do so I scampered off to find my ipod with 2378 songs on it. The first ten songs were alright but I don't listen to half of them so I did a second list in which I skipped the ones I don't listen to. I posted both lists though. Anyways.....the point of the story is this: Actually, there's two points, here's the first: A song that popped up (after I posted) was Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles which immediately transported me back to the Village Player's Theater's stage, standing at the foot of a "dead" Hannah, during a mock funeral singing 'Here Comes the Sun' as a hippie and later a soldier with Johnny and others. Ah, good times. Oh, yes, the second point. The second point is that I was having way too much fun to stop at just ten random songs so I will post with a much longer list. I will post the songs I don't actually listen to but in italics.

1) Scarborough Fair/Canticle - Simon and Garfunkel
2) Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da - The Beatles
3) Mediocre Bad Guys - Jack Johnson
4) New Way To Be Human - Switchfoot
5) Oh By Jingo! - Danny Kaye
6) Quicksilver (?) - Roper
7) He's a Pirate - Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack
8) Socially Acceptable - DC Talk
9) TruDog: The Return - TobyMac (What the heck! I never listen to this and it came up in the first David Crowder list, too!)
10) Little Wild One - The Wonders
11) Cornography - Brad Paisley (I have NO idea what this is...)
12) A Little More - Skillet
13) The Icicle Melts - The Cranberries
14) When Fred'ric Was A Little Lad - Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan (a comic opera)
15) Amy Hit the Atmosphere - Counting Crows
16) Always On My Mind - Michael Buble
17) Memoir - Audio Adrenaline
18) The Power of Love - Huey Lewis and the News (Yeah, baby!)
19) Paralyzed - Sixpence None the Richer
20) Apres Moi - Regina Spektor
21) Meant to Live - Switchfoot
22) Redemption - Switchfoot
23) I Saw Three Ships - Mannheim Steamroller
24) Down With Love - Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor
25) Spaghetti Western - Brad Paisley (again, I have no idea what this is)
26) Flowers - Brad Paisley
27) Be Thou My Vision - Michael Card (So Beautiful!! My favorite hymn of all time.)
28) I'm Not Ashamed - Newsboys
29) Daylight Fading - Counting Crows
30) See How The Fates Their Gifts Allot - The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan (another comic opera)
31) Little Drummer Boy - Josh Groban
32) Arnold & Willis & Mr. Drumond - Five Iron Frenzy
33) Breathing - Lifehouse
34) The Roar of Love - Second Chapter of Acts
35) Collide - Skillet
36) All Around Me - Flyleaf
37) Suite from Anna Magdalena Notebook: Musette in D Major - Wendy Carlos
38) It's a Quiet Town - Danny Kaye
Secularization: Its Control and Power 1 - Ravi Zacharias (not actually a song but a sermon)
39) Turkish Delight - Second Chapter of Acts
40) Maybe Tomorrow - Sixpence None The Richer
41) I'm Lion-O - Relient K
42) You Probably Shouldn't Move Here - Five Iron Frenzy
43) Cycle Down - Skillet
44) Touch Me Feel Me - Darude (sounds way worse then it is, it's a techno song)
45) Tundra - Havalina Rail Co. I have a lot of work to do and not much time to do it. PI is coming up fast.
