October is pretty much my favorite month.  Its off to a decent start with seeing Deep Ella and Paris Green this weekend.  Even my mom came out to see Deep Ella friday.  I had to restrain her from trying to kick my ex's ass.  As much as I would have liked to have seen that, it would have caused too much grief in the end.  I was so proud of her anyways.

My uncle is coming into town next weekend.  We are going to play some golf which I didn't think I would ever have that opportunity again.  Over the New Year he came down with liver cancer and nearly passed.  He has recovered to the point were he has regained the feeling in his hands and feet which you lose from Chemo-therapy.  He now functions like normal again.  I suppose you cannot ask for more than that.

I haven't been on a date in a while.  I hope to remedy that this Saturday at the iSOLA show this Saturday but we will see.  I haven't had a regular dating partner in the year of 2005.  I was happy with being on my own but lonely feelings are creeping in disturbing this.  Its made worse by seeing a few others around me finding happiness and I stay here frustrated.  I could probably date whenever I wanted too but I really don't like settling for anyone either.  My template for what I want is set but difficult to find.  I feel my criteria is not difficult yes only maybe 3 have met of exceeded these things.  I think I truly just want to find someone that intrigues me and gets me excited about knowing her but its been over a year since that last happened.  Oh well, I still have friends, family, music and Astros playoff baseball.  Is there anything else more important in life?  I think not.

Another weekend update ---> pics here

Well to start, I decided I no longer required my hair.
I seriously freaked out some co-workers when I returned from work.  I left work a little early so I could get a physical to ensure I am healthy and such.  After that, I headed out to Clear Lake to meet up with Randy and Jake who were to be my roadtrip posse for the weekend.  First we made the trek out to San Marcos.  Matt Noveskey and Five Dollar Friend played and it was a blast.  Matt was joined by Justin Furstenfeld to play You Make Me Smile which won't be played live again anytime soon.  The 5 Dollar guys were really excited playing after Matt and Justin with Blue October being some of their idols.  After the show we headed out to some land Randy owns set up camp.  We marched around in the moonlight which was really beautiful.  Me and Jake's search for a scorpion went unsuccessful.  We got up and headed up to the Blanco River.  Haven't been swimming in a while so that good.  After that, we ate some BBQ and went on to Dallas.  Hung out with Celina's place and got a shower.  Kristie then picked me up and we went to see Spoonfed Tribe.  One of the most creative bands you will ever see.  Do check them out if you have a chance.  Now Sunday we picked up her friend Jayme and did some mall shopping before the show was to start.  Finally we made it out to the Gypsy Tea Room where the show was.  First performance I paid attention to was Zayra (pronounced Zi-eee-da).  What stage presence and just overall fun to watch.  In between bands, had a heart-to-heart with someone I've needed to do so for quite a while now.  I think everything will be alright.  I feel a lot better about everything now.  Greatness in Tragedy hit the stage.  Really good performance.  South FM came on after.  I really like there accoustic sound and this was no different.  After there performance, Jared suggested we should eat some sushi and I could not agree more.  I grabbed Allison to come along too and we headed to Deep Sushi.  Fantastic stuff.  I will also say i prefer the cold sake to warm but I will not complain.  We munched on about 3 huge plates of sushi.  Blue October also happened to be grabbing their dinner at the same time as well.  Kinda Interesting.  We got back in time to catch the end of Edgewater.  Made me wish Burden Brothers would hurry up and get on stage.  And when they did it was fantastic.  They played some Possum Kingdom and what made my night was them covering Suffregete City by David Bowie.  goddamn bad ass.  Blue October then finished the night.  My highlight from them was hearing Calling You completely reworked.  Truly beautiful and it already had special meaning for me before anyways.  Brought a tear when hearing it again on the car ride home.  This will rank up top as one of my best times ever.  Well I need to get to bed.  Later taters.

A+ Machines pics!

This was a really fun night if not a little bitter sweet. The guys were great, a lot of energy and the sound was great. The show was also professionally recorded and will be mixed and hopefully some discs released by the end of the month. Had a lot of good friends there. Met some people in person that I had only known through the blue october message board and that was a pleasure. Here's to hoping the fun will only increase.

Well in some important news, I have moved out of the parents crib.  Other than just some decorative things like posters its all done.  Unfortunately we dont have any internet as of yet and no cable in my room.  Right now I am on my housemates laptop hijacking someones unprotected wireless connection.  So I will probably not be on any instant messengers for a few weeks.  I will still be able to play on message boards and such at work.  I am due my first 3 month review anytime now.  Things at work are really exciting and I see some really great things happening by the end of the year as long as there is no hitch in getting my license which I doubt.  Everything else has been kinda boring.  Just moved last weekend mainly.  Also was going to see some Deep Ella but they cancelled since they going to play in chicken coup.  Don't blame them for cancelling.  I still got to hang with them for a little bit which was cool.  Then went to Hooters for dinner with some friends.  Later on I was defeated at Jenga.  Saw one of Allison's friends band, Catapult.  Had a good time even though Allison didnt seem to think I did.  I ordered a white russian they filled it half of vodka.  I applaud them for making strong drinks but they made it pretty much undrinkable.  Oh well.  Well I am out.

Peace,

Shane
