Dear Family, Friends, and strangers,

This issue just hit me when I went home. I Love home but this just my earthly home. This issue of “The Calling” is a very specific subject. It will step on ya’ll’s toes and some of ya’ll may send me a dirty e-mail because you don’t want to change. Some of ya’ll may just not talk to me anymore. But it’s ok because I will pray for everyone who gets this e-mail. Some may just delete it and you will regret it. This is not Jerry speaking its God’s holy and infallible word. So get ready to flip your bible more than ya’ll do in an average week. So I just want to say get ready.

1. EFFECTIVE CALLING

-Those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified (Romans 18:30)

A. To be conformed to the image of his son-       Rom. 8:29

B. Out of darkness into his marvelous light-     1 Peter 2:9

C. Into fellowship of his son-    1 Cor 1:9     Acts 2:39

D. Into his own kingdom and glory- 1 Thess 2:12     1 Peter 5:10 

2 Peter 1:3

E. belong to Jesus Christ-   Romans 1:6

F. be saints - Rom. 1:7       1 Cor. 1:12

G. have come into a realm of Peace - 1 Cor 7:15    Col. 3:15

H. freedom-   Galatians 5:13

I. hope- Eph. 1:18; 4:4

J. Holiness- 1 Thess. 4:7

K. Patient endurance of suffering- 1 Peter 2:20-21, 3:9

L. Eternal Life- 1 Tim. 6:12

-effective calling as follows: Effective calling is an act of God the Father, speaking through the human Proclamation of the gospel , in which he summons people to himself in such away that you respond in saving grace

-John 6:44

-Romans 10:14 “Therefore it is important to understand exactly what the gospel call is”.

B. ELEMENTS OF THE GOSPEL CALL

1. Explanation of the fact concerning salvation:

A. All People have sinned (Rom. 3:23)

B. The penalty of our sin is death (Rom. 6:23)

C. Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for our sins (Rom. 5:8)

-By understanding those facts and even agreeing that they are true is not ENOUGH for a person to be saved.

-There must also be an invitation for a Personnel response on the part of the individual who will repent of his or her sins and trust personally in Christ

2. Invitation to respond to Christ personally in repentance and faith

- John also talks about the need for personal response when he says. (John 1:11-12)

- There is Lukewarmness: in youth groups, churches, and denominations

-“point blank: spiritual blindness is not realized until you come to the understanding of the call” (Rev.3:20)

-Final 5 verses from the end of the entire Bible, there is another invitation from the Holy Spirit and the Church to come see:

(Rev 22:17)

But what is involved in coming to Christ?

Read: Acts 20:21, Luke 24:47, Acts 2:37-38, 3:19, 5:31, 17:30,

Romans 2:4, and  2 Cor 7:10

-         A promise of forgiveness and Eternal life

-Words of Personal invitation  Spoken by Christ:

1. Do have Promise of rest

2. Power to become children of God

3. Partaking of the water of Life

4: it is helpful to make explict

Just what Christ Promises to those who come to him in repentance and faith

-read John 3:16

-Peter preaching of the gospel he says, “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out” Acts 3:19

-John 6:37

ARE YOU SAVED: YES OR NO?

WHAT ARE YOU BEARING: GOOD FRUIT OR BAD FRUIT

SO IN A NUT SHELL: ARE YOU ACCEPTING THE CALL THAT JESUS CHRIST  PUT FORTH?
