Moving Day
OK, time to confess. I have two blogs.
I heard a lot about blogging from a friend about a year ago and realized having a blog of my own would have at least two benefits: I could type out the myriad thoughts and sort them, and I could develop friendships with normal people at 3 in the morning. (I'm awake sometimes at 3, but most of the real-world people commonly awake at that hour have so little in common with me I hesitate to approach them.) Third, I am open to advice at times, and my life certainly needs it!
Between getting saved relatively late in life (age 25) and having a degree in psychology, I thought that, although blogs are relatively anonymous and (by nature) revealed personalities, I needed one blog on the accepted "Christian" site (Xanga) and one on a site where I could express myself in non-Christianese terms.
For example, I have a rocky marriage. At least once a month my husband irritates me down to my fingernails, and I want to be able to write about that. It would be unwise to speak what I think about my husband with my friends at church, and I have no Christian family that can be reached easily. So, a second blog.
Moreover, I love God and want to talk about Him openly. One of my blogging friends let me know that "getting preachy" is a surefire way to drive off non-fanatics, unless you're blogging on Xanga.
Thus, two blogs.
I'm tired of it. A year later, my moods don't seem so clearly "Christian" and "secular". I've talked enough about my rough marriage, and read enough replies, that it doesn't seem that other bloggers are going to influence me to do something stupid, like leave or divorce. I'm probably only fooling myself in thinking that my marital troubles are a well-kept secret anywhere, anyway. I'm tired of trying to "reign in" how I feel about what God is doing, and how I'm responding to it, on both sites.
I'm moving. All of me will be at http://r1r2ish.blogspot.com/ from today on. I hope to see you there!

Pass Me a Tissue (and Some Popcorn)
We borrowed "Flywheel", which was made by the same folks who did "Facing the Giants", but earlier (and they have a little technical difficulty, but it's still very watchable). First #1 hands me a couple of tissues. Within minutes, she hands me the whole box. Wow. Incredible movie. Can't wait for their third (and more!) effort!
Mr Wonderful is requesting "Life Is Beautiful", about the WWII concentration camps. He shows it in Italian class, and I always make sure there is a box of tissues on his desk that morning.
Yep, "Facing the Giants" makes me cry every time.
I liked "An Affair to Remember", but didn't cry, by any means.
What movies move you to tears?

Put Down the Sewing Machine, and No One Will Get Hurt
God loves #2 a lot. (OK, OK, God loves all of us a lot. John 3:16 and all that.) After going through clothes, clothes, clothes today, her "Need for Winter List" was exactly this: 3 pair jeans. One sweater, pink or white. Hmmm, what's that large box that says "Kitchen Trash Bags" doing in the back of the girls' bedroom closet? Was I really so out of room in the pantry I put a big box in their closet?
Yeah, you guessed it. Three pair of jeans, sized for #2. Three very cute (she would hate to know I wrote that, but they are) long-sleeved tops. One pink sweater.
On the other hand, #1 has exactly this many clothes for the winter: all the unders she needs. One shirt. Yeah, one shirt is it. Gloryana. Is she complaining? Envious of her sister? Nope, she's here next to me studying a butterfly she pinned last week and singing and smiling at life.
#3 needs a couple of shirts for church. Remind me again why boys' clothes are simpler (more solid colors, less to match), cheaper, and easier to find than girls'?
Yes, it's 90 degrees this afternoon. Don't go there, OK?

Somehow, I Don't Think
Going out to a Mexican restaurant last night can be counted as "Spanish Conversation" (which is the one subject we missed during school yesterday)!
Another Grace Livingstone Hill completed last night. A friend passed along 6. One has been a keeper, for sure- "Not Under the Law". Last night's, "Exit Betty", will soon be on PaperBackSwap.
The kiddos chose to do double schoolwork yesterday, and take today off. Good time to tackle the Girls' Winter Clothes box, I suppose, after #3's flag football game this morning.
Last night's planned casserole (colcannon, and Irish potato-cabbage-cheese melange) will serve as today's lunch, and Saturday dinner is always something simple- hot dogs and fries and salad, this week. Wow! That pretty much counts as a Day Off, eh? ;)
