| Wow, thanks for the replies, kiddos! I'm 23 . . . and all my coworkers were joking with me the other day that at 23, they had at least half their life's ambitions tackled. And I? Well, I don't even what ones I want to tackle and what ones I want to keep a dangling dream. It was all in jest, so I suppose the best choice, God willing, is to keep plugging away. It's back to Chicago in January. My MDiv to buy me some time . . . and then Psychology maybe? . . . or ThM? Who knows. So, it's been raining here in Baltimore for the last 5 days. Now, don't get me wrong, I like rain. But, I think they have a serious sewage problem here in this city because, you see, they have these great clouds of smoking who-knows-what constantly billowing out of the manholes--as if the streets are alive and breathing . . . and need badly to brush their teeth. It matters not what season nor what temperature is the outside air, the steam just keeps pushing up and out. With the rain, this rancid steam production seems to kick into overtime. Add to this smell the harbor, which protrudes, during these wet times, a faint dead fish smell . . . and add, too, a few homeless people . . . This is where I live! Lovely. I'm wanting to go to the store to get pumpkins. To carve. But, as I aforementioned and in case you forgot, it's still raining. I've heard public transportation during rain or any inclement weather is only for the brave of heart, so I'm trying to avoid that at all costs. Baltimore city public transit makes Chicago look and operate like a limousine service. It's horrible to say the least. I'll save my story for another time. I haven't cried that much in a long while. So, yes, pumpkins . . . the guy who lives across from my apartment has some outside his door arranged in a rather festive display with some gourds and such. I thought it might be funny to take his pumpkins (thus saving me a trip), carve them, and then rearrange them as they were. Yes? I'll let you know how that goes. |
