  • 852 (Wow, that's a big number!)

Xanga is slowly eroding.  The friendships acquaintances I have made over the last 852 days (with an exception or two) have diminished and I can see why people give up blogging.  My footprint count dropped to under 500 a week last week, and this week is currently at 175 so far.  And MOST of the hits are from Google and Yahoo! bots that troll my site for new tags, comments, and entries.

I'll have to admit, it's a bit of an ego trip to see someone from the Netherlands visit my site because a search engine listed it as a likely place to get the info they were looking for.

But I hate getting grief over time spent blogging (which, admittedly hasn't been all that great lately) or that college aged women have subscribed and comment, or that Dan the Theologian is always stirring controversy that I get sucked into.

I've seen the Xanga ultimatums on many others' sites where they threaten to quit to get people to plead for more.

Don't.  It'll embarrass us both, and honestly, I'm not the kind of guy who makes a decision on consensus.

So, if I take a break, or if I try harder to blog and be insightful, or if I just continue on occasion, the choice is really up to me.

Maybe I'll just turn off the bots for awhile.

It is up to you. I will miss you if you go. Most of all, I'll miss your comments. Hahahaha. Just kidding. I'll miss your posts, too. What is this xangaland all of us have created? We have our own language and everything.

That is a lot of footprints.  Traffic is up and down from week to week.  Mine varries so much.  You almost have to get out there and meet new people.

Maybe I'm odd - I use xanga to keep in touch with people I already know - like you!  (Maybe I'm odd anyway - like you!)  :P

Very good point about Paul. As far as Peter, and obeying God rather than men, yes, yes, yes. I don't interpret that verse to mean we should break all of man's rules though (render to Caesar), but stressing the importance of pleasing God over man. Of not having to prove your faith to men like that, especially when it serves little purpose.

I just don't see people being attracted to Jesus because of that. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe some people were. I wouldn't be, so that's what I have to go on.

I looked up that Peter verse in context, and in context, yeah, it does go with what you're saying. So I'll grant you that. I don't know. I'm not a pastor, and I can't see myself doing that. It seems very illogical to me, like you're just making trouble for yourself. Maybe when I'm in a situation like that I'll see the light.

Well, I am no college age person, though, I am venturing out there to take a couple of classes. Actually, this blog was revealing my lack of ... well, ability to write what I am wanting to say. So, grammar and composition is my occupation of late, that, and total embarrassment from being in the room with very, very, young persons. It's ok, they will get over the shock in time. Who knows, maybe a better blogger will surface. Web logs come and go, stick with it, though, I enjoy your writes.
