Imagine all the people/Living for today (John Lennon)

Sometimes in life, we come across situations that are out of our control with results that may not be what we hope for.  Then we get caught up with the past--or dreams/expectations and the like--and forget to live in the present.

    Langston Hughes:
    Dreams
    Hold fast to dreams
    For if dreams die
    Life is a broken-winged bird
    That cannot fly.
    Hold fast to dreams
    For when dreams go
    Life is a barren field
    Frozen with snow.

    Dream Deferred
What happens to a dream deferred?

    Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
    Or fester like a sore--
    And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
    Or crust and sugar over--
    like a syrupy sweet?

    Maybe it just sags
    like a heavy load.

    Or does it explode?

Are these views on dreams too extreme?  I think dreams are beautiful things--but I don't think deferring them should be such a frightful thing--abandoning them, however, could be.

Won't be haunted by dreams I've deferred
Won't set my heart frozen in amber

    [Break the Sky--The Hush Sound]

I mean, it's dangerous to forget our roots, our inspiration, and the like.

  • Snails see the benefits/The beauty in every inch (The Format)

    From Socrates Cafe-Christopher Phillips:

I frequently ask myself: 'Why can't I just be normal and accept the fact that jobs are not meant to be all that fulfilling?  Why can't I just accept the fact that most adults end up abandoning their more youthful and idealistic aspirations?'  The answer I came up with was always the same:  Because life is not a dress rehearsal.  Because I shouldn't settle for less than doing exactly what I want to do with my life, despite the risks, or, better, because of the risks.  My philosophy of life had always been to live intensely, to love intensely.

Carpe diem!  I wish you all the best.
