NEW SITE! www.xanga.com/reflectiveLATINA

Thursday, December 15, 2005

Wow I didn't realize that it has been so long since I have written on my xanga.  I guess there are just times that we need to do, and there are just times we need to just chill..lol....I have been thinking about the passions that drive me such as:  Soul Care, Theological Reflection, Spiritual Direction, and Chaplaincy.  I always say to myself "Edna you do too much thinking and have too many passions", but that is who I am.  I am ready these days and passionate about having some of these discussions with anyone who cares to discuss...I will be renovating my xanga with my daughter's help...:)  and the name will be REFLECTIONS.  I invite you to join in and I would love to hear what your thoughts are on different reflections.  God Bless and Happy Holidays to you all..:)

This morning I'm thinking about discernment.  How can we discern the next steps in our journey?  How do we know if we are in the right place?  How do we know if we are making the right decisions?  It is not an easy process to discern.  It is so important to be patient and to really reflect on our options and most of all to ask God to guide us in every step.  If something I know is that we should not rush the process.  Something else that comes to mind is,  if we are not sure or in crisis , it is important not to jump on making  any major decisions.  When I think about discernment I think about spending more time with God and letting God initiate the conversation.  Oh how difficult it is to do that sometimes, especially when we want an answer from God TODAY...:)

"If we live, we are living for the Lord, and if we die we are dying for the Lord".  Romans 14:28

When I reflect on my spiritual journey I have to say that my focus in these days is to live for the Lord.  Some may ask "what does this mean, living for the Lord?".  Living for the Lord is really focusing daily giving our heart, our soul, and our mind to the Lord daily.  Oh yeah it is not an easy task but it reminds me of a small child when their world is their parents.  When this child is hurt, hungry, sad, etc they run to their parents.  Oh how wonderful it is to run to God.  Running to God focused on giving our lives completely to God is not a short journey but a long inner journey.  Oh yeah it has to be intentional, and we need to observe what is going on, meaning that we will need to be still at times to watch closely what is going on, and at times to reflect including listening to what God is placing in our spirits.

Dying is a scary concept in our society today, but something I'm learning is that there are choices in how we face our dying.  It is without doubt that we will all face death sooner or later.  I think it is so critical to live life and to choose to die living.

As I woke this morning and laid on my bed I thank God for the peaceful and comfortable sleep I experienced.  Its interesting to me that even though there are many thoughts on my mind, I was able to relax and sleep in a peaceful way.  I'm wondering how many leave this earth in this way?  Oh if only we could just trust that God will take care of things...:).....Oh if only we could just believe that God wants the best for us..:)  Oh if we could just believe that God loves us so very much even when we mess up...:}   It is so wonderful to know that the God that we experience is not judgemental, not condenscending, not cruel, not power hungry, not abusive, not demoralizing, etc.....It is so good to know that God sees us as unique individuals.
