  • A little arena time again......

The girls and I brought Shiloh, Memphis, Mace and Tish into the arena today.  It was so hot we didn't do a whole lot, but the horses thought it was quite enough.

Mace and Pinky doing their thing.

Thug working with Shiloh, she's really rusty.

    July 2008 031

Memphis hoping I'll forget about her and she can just sit around doing nothing.

And Tish, the Princess, just getting used to being away from home.

  • A gross thing.......watch out.

But really, how many times have I put gross stuff on this blog and you look anyway.  I've seen your footprints, I know you looked.  But this is a wound, so maybe you should think twice.  Not a bad one by any means, but some people are delicate.

    Careful,

    Here it comes.........

Hacinta came in lame this morning, with a piece taken out of her pastern.  She won't confess, but I suspect she was trying to get somewhere east of Memphis.  The town, not the horse.  Anyhow, a bit of scarlett oil, some time, and we'll see what's up.

  • Flowers for Mom....

and anyone else who likes them.

Here's my new garden spot.  These were taken in May, everything is bigger now, and I've put more in.

    May 2008 033

There's a sunny side and a shady side.  I've got hummers, finch, cardinals, bluebirds,  woodpeckers and we had a huge bunch of purple martins this year.  And the occasional crow comes by to eat the whole corn I put out for them.  They are really funny.

    May 2008 025

I love to sit out here.  I can watch the cattle and right now Hacinta the Arabian is in that pasture, greatly improving the view.

The rare "rock" flower.....we got these rocks in Idaho when we were up there two years ago, dropping Paden off.

    June 2008 034

and some miniature hollyhocks, courtesy of Becky.

    June 2008 030

Asiatic lillies, they are beautiful in the spring, but then they die and are ugly the rest of the summer.  They spread and come in lots of different colors.

    June 2008 029

Shasta daisies next to the house.  I have four small bunches in the garden, but they aren't blooming yet.  Daisies always look so happy to me.

    June 2008 028

The hollyhocks are everywhere.  Next year we're going to try to organize them.  I said that last year, and the year before........

    June 2008 027

Hostas, I have two big groups of these......

    June 2008 026

    And of course, the planters.

    June 2008 025 June 2008 024

We put this big rock in the front driveway................

    June 2008 004

so we wouldn't run over these!  Killdee eggs.

    June 2008 005

And I think these are my favorites.  I bought a shaker can of wildflower seeds at Walmart, and they actually came up!  I love all the colors mixed together.

    June 2008 043

They should come up every year, and I think I'll put in some more!

    June 2008 041

These are waiting to be assimilated.

    July 2008 035

And I have a very small pond,

    July 2008 036

    with two very shy goldfish.

    July 2008 038

There you go Mom.  Love ya!

  • More surprise company!

Q was in town for a bit this weekend, and dropped by for a couple of hours to visit.  She had new boots and wanted to ride, but it was pretty rainey.  When it let up we ran out to the round pen, where Blaze was waiting.

At first we thought we were just going to pet her........

    June 2008 008

but it looked like it might hold off raining for a while.  Pinky hurried up and caught her Mace Windu.....

    June 2008 033

they posed for a couple of pictures.........

    June 2008 037 June 2008 047

and rode off on an adventure!
