I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor - it is the gift of God.Ecclesiasties 3:12-13

Daylight Saving Time

Just my two bits...I don't much care for it. If I wanted more daylight I would just get up earlier. I have read all the careful reasoning for why we do it at http://www.energy.ca.gov/daylightsaving.html but then there are others who oppose it like www.standardtime.com.  My reasonings are purely emotional and selfish.  I don't like the adjustment I have to make both mentally and physically twice a year.  It really messes with my internal clock. And it just doesn't seem natural to go messing with the time all of the time. So there you have it...a rant.

But no matter what time it is, it looks like the sun will burn through this cloud cover and it will be another beautiful day here on the harbor.

The book listed above is my very favorite cookbook.  I haven't made a recipe from it yet that I haven't thought was perfect. I am making blueberry muffins out of it this morning and plan to have a picture-perfect breakfast of a muffin and a hot cup of Sunday Blend tea (vanilla).

The Opinionated Knitter
By Elizabeth Zimmermann

The sun we enjoyed so thoroughly for the last two days has decided to hide itself behind a voluminous quilt of clouds. But we still have signs that the sun was here; the apple tree is putting out green leaf buds and the lawn needs mowing.

I love this knitting book.  Elizabeth Zimmermann is such a common sense woman who believes that women have a brain cell or two between their ears and can and should use them. Her patterns are so straight-forward and honest. I guess I would call it "wholesome" knitting for lack of a better term.  And her reminisences are delightful to read. Courtney is currently following a raglan sweater pattern from Elizabeth and it is turning out very lovely. I will post a picture and show it off when she finishes it.

My tea arrived today and I feel at peace again. Life is at its best when one has a decent cup of tea. For anyone longing for a truly wonderful tea experience go to www.specialteas.com. I have been ordering from them for a while now and have never been disappointed.

I have taken my measuring neurosis to a new level...I can measure the tea to the gram and then measure the water to the fraction of a fluid ounce and produce a "precise" cup of tea. Oh, the simple thrills in life.

Rainy Day Viewing

On this very wet dreary day, I am overcome with mounds of laundry to fold. And the only way to slog one's way through is with something to distract one. So I am watching Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting Glossary that I checked out from our incredible library. And she just said the funniest thing which I HAD to make my new tag line. In context she meant that as you knit, so what if the inside doesn't look perfect. Her attitude about life is such a hoot. I suppose, if I think about it too hard, the world view of her statement is a bit off so I will just keep the tag line until the fun wears off.

I still haven't gone to bed!

This was the text for the sermon in church today...

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Mighty appropriate by my way of thinkin'

God's grace is good.

Can you tell I am procrastinating about going to bed?...I always do this when John is away from home.
