| as promised - tallbike photos! i wish they gave you a real perspective of the actual height of the bike - as the fishey distorts the depth perception. but let me tell you this - it's awesome when a dude in a lifted truck rolls up next to you and has to look UP and out of his window to see who's the human being perched upon this chaotic welded two-wheeled creation. i rode it to work the other day and let me tell you that was a LONG ride! it's amazing how something silly like this can get people to smile, regardless of their situation. all the way to work, people stared, honked, wondered, and asked with their window rolled down 'how the heck do you get up on that thing?' whenever i ride this bike i realize the simple joys of life. i cant help but grin, giggle and laugh to myself as i roll down the road in sky-scraping bliss. oh, and feel FREE to try this at home! tallbike adventures, take one:

| and wonders, wonders...of his lovelistening to the sufjan stevens christmas album, while drinking a holiday coffee blend puts such a dreamy mood in the air. i love this time of year, the cold air, fog, rain - gives the weather such personality, and is such a great transition from such a hot blah kind of summer. although this autumn left nothing to be desired - there's something to be said about the christmas-y time of year. my brother is coming home for his Christmas break, i'm really excited about that. it'll probably be the last time we live in the same house together, as im getting ready to move out again once our project rental house is complete. tons left to do, but things are slowly coming together. extremely excited - its a great tiny little place with a large yard, adequate for many front-yard camping trips and bonfires. i'll only be a block away from work, which means i'll never have to drive to the shop again. i purchased a sick bike trailer to load up cargo etc, which will be perfect for grocery runs to winco. trying to minimize my ecological impact, which happens to coincide perfectly with the fact that i'm a cycle nut. this is my first season of cyclocross racing, and i'm super stoked to have won the first two races of the season! 3 left, including a night race. its a points race, and i'm leading in my class so far so its quite possible i can take the whole series. ray took some photos at the last one which i thought were pretty sick.
nearly avoiding death is our daily routine
coming soon - tallbike photos/adventures!! oh - and i'm REALLY interested to know who the belgian reader is who visits my site on a daily basis. reveal yourself, mysterious waffle-haver!
| bats in the belfry...err....bike?apparently mother nature is still trying to tell me something with all these near-death animal encounters, however - what it is, i have no clue. But i still feel sorry for this flying rodent and his untimely demise.
what a cute [dead] rabies infested bugger! i've been very content in the subtle pleasures of life lately. like just the other day, when i filled up my port-o-subs frequent buyer card, and got to turn it in for a free 12" turkey-with-provlone-mustard-mayo-holdthetomatoespicklesvinegarandspices. man, buy 11 sandwiches, get one free. WHAT a bargain. work is intense but chill, my last pay period resulting in 106 hours, 26 of that OT. boss is sending me to various training seminars etc, went to Utah last month, going to Vegas in September, and October the itinerary sends me to Morgan Hill to test ride some $$$$ bikes for a few days. plus a hefty raise last week which sent me over the annual 100k mark. kidding. [insert subliminal message for all folks to purchase an expensive bike from peter to boost his travel-to-Europe-for-4-months-of-every-year fund] one of my best buddies got married towards the end of july; they enlisted me with the honor of photographing the occasion. sweet! here are a few teasers, but Shhh because they haven't seen them yet!
sorry for so many photos but i wanted you to see an awesome couple who loves the Lord! MORE PHOTOS SOON!!
| what are the odds of encountering two different mountain lions, on two different trails, on two rides in a row? whatever they are, i've beat them, and such has resulted with increased paranoia on latter rides. maybe they like dark meat? its great getting in touch with old friends once again. not just old 'acquaintances' that you'd stop and make small talk with, but real friends that you used to be so close with, but fell apart for whatever circumstances beyond your control. i rode to mineral king last week, one of those epic solo adventures that you only wish you could explain it to someone in vivid detail. 1 flat tyre, 1 mountain lion, 2 whole pies, 6 costco rolls, 79 raisins, three and a half hours, a farmers tan and a bag of tri-tip later, this view was seen from the cockpit of my road bike.
If you have a pear shaped body, you should not wear pear colored clothes, or act juicy.
| my name is mud.i definitely have a strange relationship with wet dirt. soggy, grimy, gritty, mud. it likes to join forces with my saliva, apparently, and travel down my esophagus, while i ride.
third place was achieved saturday during a grueling 15mile/2hour14minute grind up 'buck ridge', which could have been named 'hamburger hill' since thats what my legs more or less resembled after the climb.
too bad it wasnt muddy, and raining during the whole race?
stewart looks asian, i looks st00pid. both of us are delirious.
you sir, are a worthy foe. first place had to jet before awards, i guess?
