| Ciao, mis amigos! Since my last post, I have performed in my senior recital, graduated from high school, gone to nationals, finished my debate and speech career, hung out with friends and family, auditioned for the Mason music department, gone to orientation, registered for classes, taken dance lessons, and started a job at Williams-Sonoma. Right now, I am on vacation in upstate NY con mi familia. Last Sunday, we were supposed to leave to come up here at 8am. In typical Inglis vacation style, instead of leaving at 8, we left at 9am (it's better than the 11am). After a 6.5 hour drive and a pause for lunch, we arrived at Seneca Lake in the finger lakes. Lake Seneca is about 25 miles long and about 625 ft deep at its deepest. There are 51 wineries and vineyards around the lake. We have a very nice house on the lake with a dock, kayak, canoe, and rowboat. Since then we have been sitting around reading, playing games, swimming, boating, and taking trips to Wegman's for food. We have also been on a few walks in state parks in the area. I am reading The Count of Monte Cristo. I have about 400 pages left. I have enjoyed the story, but I think Dumas has taken a little too much time to tell certain things. On Wednesday night (a week ago), Daddy, Mommy, Melanie, Emily, and I drove about 2 hours to Darien Lake (an amusement park) for a Newsboys concert. The others besides Emily and I didn't want to see any of the other bands, so we didn't arrive until about 20 minutes before the Newsboys got on stage. The concert was still really good. Over the weekend, Daddy's younger brother, David, and his family came over for about 4 days. They stayed in the house of a friend of theirs and came to visit during the day. Yesterday, we went to Niagara falls. It was awesome. Both sets of the falls were huge. We left at about 8:30 or 9am. We did several little things there. We did a walk where we actually got to walk on a little wooden walkway at the base of the American side of the falls. Then we went over to Canada and took a boat trip up the river to the base of the horseshoe falls (the Canadian side of Niagara). We also went on a walk behind the Canadian side of the falls. The overlooks are built on both sides of the falls so that you can get right next to the crest of the falls and look down. Many opportunities for suicide...just jump the small railing and you're pretty much finished. Unless you survive, which has happened before. We were going to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe in the Canadian city of Niagara Falls, but Mommy didn't want to. So we at a restaurant called the Secret Garden instead . We arrived back at the house at about 11:30pm. We have about 4 days left in our vacation. Then one more week until school starts. Ciao Ciao! |
