Ron Paul Unveils a REAL Economic Stimulus Plan
Four-pronged approach will strengthen the economy by reforming taxes, cutting spending, improving monetary policy and eliminating burdensome regulations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJanuary 24, 2008
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA –Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has unveiled a comprehensive economic revitalization package. The four-pronged plan is designed to stem the current economic slide and address the unsound governmental policies that are harming Americans’ pocketbooks.
“Real economic reform must address the underlying reasons for the current economic malaise,” said Ron Paul. “This plan is more than just a band-aid for our economy; it fundamentally reforms four areas where government policies are damaging our national economy. When enacted, my plan will provide both short-term stimulus, and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.”
The comprehensive economic revitalization plan is available online at: http://www.RonPaul2008.com/Prosperity.
The four areas that the plan covers are:
1. Tax Reform: Reduce the tax burden and eliminate taxes that punish investment and savings, including job-killing corporate taxes.
2. Spending Reform: Eliminate wasteful spending. Reduce overseas commitments. Freeze all non-defense, non-entitlement spending at current levels.
3. Monetary Policy Reform: Expand openness with the Federal Reserve and require the Fed to televise its meetings. Return value to our money.
4. Regulatory Reform: Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley regulations that push companies to seek capital outside of US markets. Stop restricting community banks from fostering local economic growth.
Congressman Paul has written or co-sponsored numerous bills to enact the policies in his plan. In Congress, he has been a champion of lower taxes and limited government.Congressman Paul is the ranking member on the House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology. In Congress, Dr. Paul has never voted for a tax increase or for an unbalanced budget.

Ron Paul's Foreign Policy Is Badly NeededThe neo-conservatives claim that the war on terrorism will be won by us sending hundreds of thousands of troops halfway around the world. They say that the war in Iraq has made us safer. The exact opposite is true. When we invade foreign lands and tell others how to live we spread a message of American arrogance, not freedom. Here is the cold hard truth: the Middle East has been embroiled in conflict for millenia over religious reasons. Their hatred toward one another is rooted in their worldview. It is part of who they are. The notion that we can change someone's worldview using guns is absolute idiocy. Yet politicians love to talk about "peace in the Middle East" as though us telling them to sign a peace treaty is going to solve anything. If these people want to stop fighting they will have to do it themselves. We are not going to change them.
Concerning Iraq, the only way we could truly change the collective mindset of the people is by indoctrinating the next generation into Western thinking. To do this we would have to take over their school system for several decades. Think this is stupid? Revolutions don't happen over night. Look at Nazi Germany: the philosophy that unfolded in Hitler's totalitarian dictatorship was sown in the minds of Germans long before World War 2 ever broke out. Furthermore, had America and Europe left Germany alone after WWI and never imposed the Versailles Treaty we might have never had WWII. The Germans were full of anger because of our interventionist policy. Yes, the Versailles Treaty was interventionism. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise.
We went into Vietnam foolishly thinking that it was our job to stop the spread of communism. If the politicians in Washington had spent three minutes studying communism they would have known that communist countries cannot support themselves. They implode. Communist economics is a failure. The Soviet Union made that incredibly clear. And so is it a surprise that Vietnam ended up abandoning communism anyway? Today we have good trade relations with them. Likewise, we continue to meddle with North and South Korea and not surprisingly the two nations have remained separate. We have prevented the Koreans from re-uniting despite the fact that North and South Korea want more relations with one another. Interventionism always accomplishes the exact opposite of what it intends.
The War on Terror is also a joke because we fail to realize that terrorism is a tactic, not an army itself. There is no such thing as "fighting terrorism." Can we fight terrorists? Yes. But by the virtue of their tactic we cannot deal with them like we would with a regular army. Its like trying to wrestle a jellyfish. Furthermore, terrorists are made when Muslim extremists have children. Once again, its part of their worldview. Do we think we are going to change their worldview with our guns and bombs?
The question we need to ask ourselves is, "Why are Muslims using terrorism against us?" Bin Laden has repeatedly said that he attacked the US because our Saudi Arabian military bases were an insult to Islam. The terrorists hate us because we are on their land, not because they hate our freedom and prosperity. Unfortunately, the neo-cons will never wake up to this. They think that there is something patriotic about telling other people how to live. And yet if some other country invaded our land and tried to tell us how to live wouldn't we be quite angry, too? We would not tolerate it. And yet we arrogantly think that every nation should worship our way of life and accept it without question. Let other nations take care of themselves. We need to mind our own business.
Tim Russert asked Ron Paul last week whether he was worried about Iran invading Israel. "We should protect Israel!" is what the neo-cons cry out. "We need to invade Iran!" Ron Paul pointed out that Iran is just as likely to invade Mars as it is Israel. Iran has no army. It does not even touch the Israeli border. "But they will launch nuclear missiles at Iran!" We no evidence whatsoever that Iran has nuclear weapons. "But Iran has nuclear power plants!" This is not the same as a nuclear warhead. Warheads take time to develop, and we would know if Iran had tested one, even if the test occurred underground. Furthermore, Iran is allowed to have nuclear power plants under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Finally, if military history has shown us one thing its that Israel is more than capable of taking care of itself. So let's leave these countries alone.

Tea Party Has Arrived! Donate Today!
Today (Dec. 16) is an very important day for the Ron Paul campaign. One that will surely make history. It is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. Over two-hundred years ago, American colonialists dumped tea into the Boston harbor to send a loud message to the British: "Enough oppression!" Today. tens of thousands of Paul supporters will dump millions of dollars into the Ron Paul campaign, sending another loud message to the media, other candidates, and America's voters: "Enough oppression!" We need Ron Paul. You know we need Ron Paul. More than just providing financial support for the Ron Paul campaign, the "Tea Party" money-bomb will force the media to turn its head towards Paul's oft-mocked campaign.
They try to point to low poll numbers. What they forget is that even Reagan polled poorly in 1980. They forget that even in 2004, John K erry was polling at only 4% before the Iowa primaries. And yet Reagan dominated the 1980 election. John Kerry dominated Iowa, with 38% of the vote. Don't let the poll numbers fool you. The Ron Paul Revolution is marching forward with a vigor unmatched by any campaign of the past two decades. You can become part of this history day by donating here.

Three Reasons to Vote for Ron Paul
The American people need to learn about Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and his promising plan for America. Not in recent years have we witnessed a revolution such as now taking place, as millions of fervent Ron Paul supporters dedicate time and money to promoting the campaign of the only presidential candidate that can turn this country around. Turn it around from what, you say? From imperialism, socialism, and totalitarianism. The other candidates will only allow the grasp of false ideas to spread.- Imperialism is bad foreign policy and contradicts the Constitution's role for the military. Ron Paul has actually written a book along these lines: A Foreign Policy of Freedom. Dr. Paul believes that the military's role is to protect United States citizens, not police the world. We cannot take the attitude that a "compassionate" nation should meddle in the affairs of other nations. We do not understand their situation and we have no right to get involved. Our imperialist philosophy has only resulted in unnecessary loss of life as well as bad relations when many nations. Al Qaeda, for example, had no operations in Iraq until we invaded. Now Iraq is swarming with terrorists. The neo-cons say we should not pull out of Iraq now because we're stopping the terrorists. This is an absurd argument: they are in Iraq because we are! In a recent debate, Ron Paul pointed out that neo-con Paul Wolfowitz has admitted that Al Qaeda wanted to attack us because of our base in Saudi Arabia. Ron Paul is also very wise in saying that if someone entered our country and tried to tell us how to live we would be quite angry at them, too! Let's give Iraq their country back.
- Socialist economic policy has one of the worst track records ever in the history of ideas. At the surface, socialism sounds great. Under the name of equality and compassion, the government will redistribute wealth as necessary so that everyone gets what they need. The problem is that this destroys any incentive for businesses to make a profit, therefore causing them to either close down or make low-quality goods once the government subsidizes them. History is replete with examples of the failures of socialist economics, whether it be through price controls or government officials dictating the needs of regions and industries that they cannot possibly understand, let alone find time to manage. The Soviet Union, of course, is the finest example. The Soviet Union had an abundance of resources yet had one of the most inefficient economies in the world. Without competition, there is no incentive to move goods where supply and demand dictates, which is why people in one region may be starving to death while food sits and rots in warehouses just a few hundred miles away. This all applies to America in that politicians will continue to use socialist arguments (such as corporate "greed" when in reality only 10% of the revenue in most corporations is profit) to manipulate "oppressed" classes in order to garner votes, get elected, and then control your life. Social security and public education are in a horrid state because both are monopolized by the government. Socialized medicine is also on the rise. As a trained doctor and self-taught economist, Ron Paul understands the foolishness of socialism, especially in the medical system.
- Totalitarianism destroys personal liberties, inevitably leading to bloodshed and oppression. And yet America becomes more and more totalitarian every day. The Patriot Act and a national ID card, both good ideas in the eyes of Rudy Giuliani and other neo-cons, will strip us of our privacy rights and lead to the nullifcation of habeas corpus. The Democrats will destroy our freedoms even quicker as they push to centralize anything and everything, putting Big Brother in every last aspect of your life. The Founding Fathers must be spinning in their graves at the thought of the abuses of the federal government. With more bureaucracy, regulation, and unconstitutional agences comes more and more opportunities for the current ruling elite to control your life, and eventually punish you when you try to resist or disobey. The old saying, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" is more than true in light of all of the cruelties caused by big government. Ron Paul, however, is a strict constitutionalist who will abolish the IRS and the Department of Education and return such matters to the state and local level---back in the hands of people who know what is best for themselves. Likewise, he will leave issues such as abortion and marriage rights up to the state since the Constitution does not afford the federal government any involvement in these areas.
I have disabled comments simply because I don't have the time to engage in discussion/debate with everyone who comments. Visit Ron Paul's web site if you want to learn more about him. - Imperialism is bad foreign policy and contradicts the Constitution's role for the military. A Seattle Law Student Speaks the Truth On America's Economic Crisis
(And explains why Ron Paul is the answer!)
I am a long-time Seattlite and a student at the University of Washington School of Law. I don't know what you mean by the question "Is the Internet Taking Ron Paul for a Ride?" But I will try to answer anyway.
If Ron Paul has a handicap it's that his ideas are very complex and difficult for quick consumption. He doesn't resort to the easy-out demagogy that seems to be political par these days. Instead, he embraces the more robust discussions that Seattleites entertain in coffee shops and academic quarters. As the liberal Glen Greenwald at Salon.com describes, "While Barack Obama toys with the rhetoric of challenging conventional wisdom, Paul's campaign -- for better or worse -- actually does so, and does so in an extremely serious, thoughtful and coherent way." Naturally, this is ill-suited for the soundbite-oriented mainstream press. It can only be understood in its entirety by doing enough research on the internet. Thus, the internet is where Ron Paul succeeds the most.
Second, he regularly challenges the conventional wisdom of Washngton D.C. Objectively, his points are equally as valid: trade instead of war, low taxes instead of corporate welfare, lower grocery prices instead of agriiculture subsidies. But again, the mainstream presumptions can only be overcome by reseaching into the root of his beliefs. Why, for instace, was he the only Congressman who opposed casting a posthumous gold medal for Rosa Parks? It turns out, he wasn't opposed to casting the medal, "Rosa Parks is a hero of mine...I believe in civil disobedience". Instead, he offerred to help pay fopr it with his own money and encouraged othr Congressmen to do the same. They woulnd't. Paul makes an excellect point here: Why is congress willing to raid your social security and tax you for a medal that they're not willing to pay for themselves? If you use the internet, you can delineate that point. But if you get all your information from the press, you'll simply hear "Ron Paul doesn't like Rosa Parks".
The article you cited also evidences this phenonmenon. It says that Paul blamed the attacks on 9/11 on American foreign policy. That was a demogogic oversimplification of his statement. It was first miscontued by the moderator, then by Giuliani, and now Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reiley. Bill Maher corrected Chris Dodd about this point, "Excuse me Senator, but that is just wht the Republicans at the debate were trying to do, they were trying to say that he blamed America for 9/11". He wasn't talking about some good-and-evil blame-game that informs more of our Bush-era understanding of the world. He was simply talking about geo-political cause and effect. The fact that he is correct according to the 9/11 Comission report, the CIA's declassified intelligence, and Paul Wolfowitz himself seems to matter little to voters who don't have the time to do that appropriate research (on the internet).
The fact is, Paul appropriately addresses the issues that America faces. There is no doubt that Social Security is crumbling. Rogue economists who set out to buy the Democrats some time cannot overwhelm the weight of economic wisdom that a system of IOUs backed by IOUs that the government written to itself cannot sustain.
The value of the dollar is deteriorating and inflation will be our next biggest financial crisis. Greenspan himself said this in an recent interview.
The cost of our war is increasing with no visible end. Not to mention the cost of maintaining troops deployed all over the world. All of these put together are recipe for financial collapse.
Paul's wisdom hails from the school of foresight. While conventional politicians go to great efforts to push problems down the line, Paul stands for the idea that we can address them now, on out terms. One thing is sure, though: we will be addressing them. Hillary Clinton may be using a walker when we do. But the generation of Americans who will be more worried about putting farm-subsidized bread on the table and will suffer the real, diffult consequences of baby-boomer largess...well, they use the internet.

Ron Paul Dominates The InternetRead this excellent NYT article: The Web Takes Ron Paul For A RideVirtually unheard of 12 months ago, Ron Paul has begun a rebellion in the truest sense of the word. Through internet viral marketing (like this very blog), the Ron Paul message is being spread at a blistering pace across every corner of the internet. Some have decried Paul, saying that he will never reach mainstream voters, but these detractors forget that 80% of all adults use the internet. Furthermore, all of this viral marketing is done through grassroots supporters alone. Unlike the other candidates who rely on big bucks to make their stale rhetoric known, the Ron Paul Revolution is fueled by every-day, freedom-loving individuals. Determined, passionate, and unrelenting is the only way to explain the followers of this man. And through the internet such voices can now be heard. If Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination then it will prove that top candidates need not be bought out by lobbyists and corporations and organizations to win. Of course, at the pace Ron Paul is moving, he is definitely a contender for the nomination.

The Ron Paul Juggernaut Moves Forward!Despite the gross media bias against Ron Paul and the attempts on the part of other candidates to downplay his significance, the Ron Paul campaign continues to grow exponentially. Just yesterday Ron Paul's campaign set the GOP fund-raising record of 4.2 million dollars in one day. Particularly amazing is the wide spectrum of individuals that Ron Paul is attracting---whether young or old, everyone is captivated by Ron Paul's non-interventionist, limited government message. Here are some great links for you to learn more about the man the other GOP candidates no longer can afford to ignore:

This Xanga is dedicated to promoting the U.S. presidential campaign of Dr. Ron Paul, a Republican congressmen from Texas.
Why am I so excited about Ron Paul?
Like many Americans, I am deeply grieved by the state of our union. Soaring taxes, a massive debt, an imbalanced federal budget, wasteful federal spending, serious immigration problems, a no-win "war" in Iraq, and unfruitful alliances with anti-American trade organizations remind me of what a mess this is country is in. Furthermore, our President has proven himself to be "Republican In Name Only." Traditionally, Republicans were about states' rights and limited government. But under President Bush's leadership, our government has grown tremendously, as well as our unnecessary, unconstitutional involvement in many nations around the globe. Most of the Republicans in Congress are no better.
On the other side of the spectrum, we have the Democrats, who might as well be called socialists---seeing as that is what they are! But socialism never worked in the past, its not working now (in the U.S. or in Europe!), and it will not work in the future. It is a failed political system that belongs in the trash heap of failed ideas. And yet this is exactly the ideology of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama---the two Democractic frontrunners.
Dr. Ron Paul, however, is unlike the fake Republicans and the socialist Democracts. He is a true conservative with an incredible track record:Ron Paul has been referred to as a conservative, a constitutionalist, and a libertarian. He is an advocate of states' rights, free trade, fewer taxes, smaller government, national sovereignty, and a non-interventionist foreign policy. Paul supports reduced government spending and reduced taxes. As congressman, he states that he has never voted to raise taxes or to approve an unbalanced budget. He has called for the abolition of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the federal income tax. He also voted against the Patriot Act, the Iraq War Resolution, and the Military Commissions Act of 2006. (source)
His record against frivolous government waste and taxation is so consistent that he has been nicknamed "Dr. No"! Unlike so many other politicians, he is renowned for his strong adherence to principles. He does not flip-flop on issues in order to appease voters. This kind of trustworthiness is very foreign in today's government. You can see why I find his slogan, "Hope for America," to be very fitting.
A great man with great experience
Born in 1935, Dr. Ron Paul excelled in academics and sports as a young man. After studying medicine at Duke University, he served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard as a flight surgeon, eventually earning the rank of Captain. Later he specialized in obstetrics and gynecology, eventually delivering over 4000 babies. Sometimes working for only $3 an hour, he refused money from Medicaid and Medicare and instead would work out custom payment plans for needy patients, or sometimes even work for free.
Paul has also studied economic theory heavily (and has authored several books on the subject of economics as a result). Concerns with America's economic direction led him to enter politics in 1971. Since then he has served ten terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, including his present term. During this time he has been repeatedly named "Taxpayer's Best Friend."
Currently attending a Baptist church, Ron Paul is a Christian who has been married to his wife, Carol, for 50 years. He as regarded as being very polite and intelligent.
Clearly, then, Ron Paul excels as a politician. His firm stance on conservative ideas and his high moral standards set him in a league of his own. I am confident that he could easily defeat any Democratic contender if only the public is exposed to him more. As it stands now, the media has given him little attention, despite his strong grassroots support and incredible display of political understanding in recent debates.
