Puppy Power!

We got a puppy on Sunday. It's a Lhasa Apso, only 8 weeks old! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lhasa_Apso

His name is Bom-bai, which is butterfly in Hmong.
(Npauj npaim is how it's technically spelled).
He's the cutest little thing ever, and he's pretty smart for a puppy.

Medina Flooded pics

San Antonio doesn't react well to rain. Most of you guys know that. With this tropical storm/depression/whatever coming in, well, we're pretty much fucked.
Here are some pics of where I work... but flooded. I'm in a few pics (Page 2) holding onto a Mustang... with one hand. lol

I think these are Mall's. He wrote an introductionary paragraph which pretty much sums it all up. I couldn't have said it any better myself!

Eventually, the creek-turned-raging-river overflowed and started gushing over the dirt lot. The lot continued to flood and it eventually spilled over onto the road and other side. To get an idea, look at the picture below. There's the road I mentioned, now picture the water level up to it and pouring over the other side.

In the first pic, (http://motoville.org/flood/arrival.jpg) you can see an orange Cobalt up front. The last time I saw it, it was covered over by water.

I took shitty cell phone pics of the aftermath (once the water flooded over, we had to stop fishing out cars, and we were eventually trapped into the upper lot) (the water level made it to the lower portion of the upper lot btw), but I need to get a cord or something to upload them.

I got at least 10 fire ant stings too. Luckily, my car was "safe" in the upper lot.

EDIT:// Mall just msged me. These are indeed his pics. He went to work this morning at 7:30 and said the water was COMPLETELY gone!

So, Amy and I went up to STL for two weeks. We had a lot of fun and got to visit a lot of places. I ate a ton of good food and I probably put on like 5 lbs. I'm an E-5 (Staff Sergeant) in the AF as of 01 April, and I'm the Unit Fitness Program Monitor (UFPM) for our squadron of about 550 people. They pretty much snatched me straight from ALS and I work up in the orderly room haha It's not bad, just a lot of paperwork...

and I played 18 holes of golf on Friday, which took about 6 hours. and I was sunburned, but I think I look normal now.

Bleh. You know I must be bored... other stuff happened but I'm even too lazy to type about it.

Laziness > boredom haha

Ice storm? ALS stuff, February

It "snowed" down here last week... well, sorta. More like it sleeted. But really, I don't think it was that bad. In fact, I've seen worse, but most of you know that San Antonians can't drive, so anytime it rains there are hundreds of accidents... now just add some ice with that rain, and this whole city shuts down. ALL of the highways were closed down. NO ONE went to work. HUNDREDS of accidents... probably. I wouldn't know, I didn't have to go into work (class) for two days either haha

The ice is pretty huh?

I should be doing my homework... writing a speech for ALS, but eh I'll do it when I finish this. I like ALS, but the work is relatively time consuming. Soooo much reading, soooo many assignments... One thing I DO like are the study groups we have over at my place. Most of the time, though, it's usually just a bunch of us playing Guitar Hero, lol. I'm getting pretty good at it too. I guess that's my new "thing" right now.

Anyway, Feb 08th I graduate from ALS. Feb 08th is also my 23rd b-day.
Feb 09th will be the party to celebrate both my b-day and graduation.
Feb 10th, I just found out, is the Asian Festival.
Feb 14th is Valentine's Day, of course. and
Feb 18th is Chinese New Year, Year of the Boar.
Hmm... February has always been my favorite month.

Christmas and New Years up in the Lou'

I always look forward to going back home to STL and visiting family and friends, (especially during the holidays, since there's a better chance that more people will be there). I love the fact that I feel like I can immediately pick up where I left off, even though we live 1,000 or so miles away, or even as if nothing has happened in our lives. However, it's obvious that we've all changed--grown older, more mature (well, most of us ), and that our city, the very same one we all grew up in, is still constantly changing as well, but that all seems transparent whenever I'm back with my friends.

    I think I'm very fortunate to have the kinds of friends that I do.

Not only that, but also, I think the network of friends I have is amazing as well. I'm always meeting new people whenever I go home, whether through other friends, or other common interests, and it surprises me (just a little bit) that once I meet someone, it won't be the last time I see them. I've seen people over again at a car meet, at a party, or maybe at the mall, or at a restaurant, at dim sum, at a bar, at the pool hall, in "chinatown", at BBT, etc. etc.

    It's a small world... city, afterall. Strange.


Ok, I had a badass time on break, but really, don't I always? hehe
I did a bunch, and took a SHITLOAD of pictures, but I really don't feel like making a slideshow of all of them, or posting them all up, so I'll save you guys some loading time and just post a few cool ones. For some reason I didn't bring my camera everywhere I went, so there aren't any random pictures of Austin, the after parties, dim sum, giant lobsters that are bigger than your head, ping pong, BBT, Imos, PS3s, 4-way DSin, casino stuff, sushi, movies, white castle, Bread co, Rally's, shopping, Jeff/Jessica's annual christmas party, chillin, the road trip up, the even longer road trip + detour down, AMC peeps, Steak n Shake, movie nights, etc.

How uncharacteristic-like of me.

Anyway, first set of pics is the "Praz/Gu" after-Christmas party. Propz to Chris for throwing the party at his place, and to Praz for bartending, and for everyone that went. You'll notice an unusual amount of asian people in these pictures. Dunno y, I guess it's just something we do.

The very next day, we had a car meet, and I saw a few old familiar faces, as well as some new ones.

How lovely. Always @ BBT, too. hehe

Rachel, I think it was 2 years since we saw each other the last time. But I still felt as comfortable and cool with you as I did when we were both at AMC and in high school.

Currently, I'm going through ALS (Airman Leadership School), and so far, so good. The downside though, is that there's a LOT of reading and homework assignments. Bleh. We graduate on Feb 08, which just so happens to be my B-day! I'll be 23, hehe.

Club RSX Austin/SA Canyon Lake BBQ Part III
Our little San Antonio "chapter" (lol) of Club RSX is pretty close to the guys up in Austin, seeing as they're only about an hour or so away. So, we decided to throw a BBQ one weekend before the weather turned nasty. I remember it was hot and sunny that day hehe. Urs truly did the grillin, and after we ate/took pics, we went on a little scenic cruise by the water.

I remember that night there was a Thai Festival that we went to, with food, and singing and dancing, etc. I thought it was cool. They got a bunch of the local Thai restaurants to come out and donate dishes. Yum, yum!

SFC Priest's Going Away
We had to say goodbye to our boss, who retired out of the Army after 20 years of service. This was the luncheon we held for him at the restaurant attached to the Bass Pro shop. The food was fresh and delicious, which surprised me actually, considering any other "seafood" joint here... This was my first time at a Bass Pro shop, but it was awesome! Take a look at the pics and u'll see why I liked that place. I bet u would too! Unless, of course, u're some animal rights activist... and no I haven't turned into a hillbilly.

Lost Maples Cruise
Justin planned a meet/cruise/bbq/hike out to Lost Maples with the S2k guys, but naturally, the RSXers were invited too. hehe The drive there AND back were AMAZING... topping out on straight-aways, speeding around corners, and pushing our cars to the limit, haha. The only thing that sucked is that I spun out after a turn, but luckily nothing happened. Well, another thing that sucked actually was all the rock chips I got. Bleh. Another car meet, another BBQ, and another cruise... what was special about this one was the hike, and seeing the wonderful colors of fall around us... being immersed in nature, and all that hippie stuff. YAY! haha

For Thanksgiving, I spent it here at a co-worker's house... who is also one of Amy's "long-lost cousins" haha I had a pretty badass time, and the food was delicious!!! I drank too much though, and I gained a little holiday weight lol

The day after Thanksgiving, officially known as Black Friday, Amy and I went shopping to a TON of places. I came home with some great deals, but my most notable purchase was that of a $2k+ bigass TV!! hehe It's a 56" SAMSUNG DLP HD TV. and for those of u techy people, it's 1080 p? i? I forget, but it's not that cheap shit hehe Seriously tho, my Xbox 360 games look absolutely AMAZING on the screen!

In the beginning of December, Amy and I drove up to Dallas to celebrate the Hmong New Years. (For those of you clueless people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hmong_people) Overall, I had fun, especially thanks to Lisa and Chineng, the really, really cool people who hosted us. Again, we had lots of good food and drank too much hehe.

This weekend I'll be going to Houston for the All-State RSX meet. Also, to visit friends, go shopping, eat some good food, go to IKEA, etc. hehe So you Houstoners, get ready!

and I'll be going home to STL for the holidays again this year. Expect me around Christmas... I'm staying til right after New Years. So for those of you guys that changed ur numbers or whatever, hit me up, and let's do something!!!

After the New Year, I go immediately to ALS from leave... it should be fun.
