Cooking!
On Wednesday my 'Useful School' class and me did a bit of cooking. The week before we studied how to order fast food, and so this week I decided we should make it!! Hamburgers, fries and chocolate shakes!
Cooking also meant that I don't have to make worksheets about other topics until after summer vacation!

Misaki cooking the onions (of which we had too many!).

Akemi....who doesn't speak English OR Japanese very well...at least not in a loud enough tone for me to hear!

Lovehearts!

Ayumi and Sachiko.

Ready to put together.

Sachiko is the skinniest but made the biggest burger!

Ready to eat!

Sachiko's creation.

Oops! It's too big for her mouth!
Anyway, that was fun, but SO HOT in the kitchen!
After we had cleaned up I went and hung out in the front office talking to Iwaya until 7pm! Or rather, I was talking while he was writing reports...
Tomorrow I am off to Disneyland! I have to get up at 5:30am so I really should go to bed very soon.

TV Star!
Well, not really....
But yesterday I filmed my bit for the show that Dan (the CIR) and a Japanese lady co-host on the local cable TV network.
I was a bit nervous and didn't speak much Japanese, but that's okay, that's what Dan is for!
I smiled and nodded alot!
They introduced me and then we talked about Australia. For example, the flag and what it means, Ayers Rock, money, the kangaroo and koala stuffed toys I had, and some Aussie slang. We also ate Vegemite and did the Tim Tam Slam! Except they couldn't suck the drink up the Tim Tam! So I don't know how that will work out on the show.
Anyway, the segment is supposed to go for 10 minutes but we had about 15 minutes of footage so I wonder what they'll cut.
Unfortunately I don't have local cable TV! But I think they will put it on a DVD for me. Hoorah!
In other news...
I have no classes until....August! Hoorah! And Friday I think the whole school is going to a baseball game in Yamagata City so I hope we win! Although I heard Yamagata Chuo is in the top 4 in Yamagata so I think we might be out of luck.
Now I'm just planning for my two week holiday with Kellie still. Trying to work out transport and how to get to places that we want to see in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc.
Soon I have to go out shopping for groceries. Last week in Useful School we studied about ordering fast food, so this week we are going to make fast food! Burgers, fries and shakes. Healthy I know.
Three more sleeps until Disney!!

Goodbye!!!
Last weekend was the Yamagata ALT Goodbye Party up in Sakata. Wanting to say goodbye to friends, and a yearning for seeing Sakata again, of course I went! Monica, JoeyD and I drove up on Saturday afternoon and headed to Hiyoriyama Park to meet up with Kat, who was waiting all by her lonesome for people to rock up! The four of us relaxed on the tarps and chatted. Eventually more and more people rocked up though!
The boat hadn't gone far since the last time I saw it...

Lighthouse.

JD and Clare pretending they're from Aladdin!

Dorrie and Maggy loved the phallic bread!

Some of the picnicing people.
Around 6pm, the three of us headed back to Jeff's to get ready and then we went out to an izakaya for pre-drinking drinking! And some food. Mmm, fried cheese!
I want Monica's hat.
We finally went to the gig about 9pm or so, missing most of the first set! (Again!).
The place was packed out with ALTs and a few Japanese. We all danced and drank and chatted and a good time was had by all!

Cute pic of Mon and Mags!

I can't resist the boob touching!

Cherie, Nicole and Kat.

Packed!

Hot!

Julia sang 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin'. She did a good job. It's a great song!

Ed and Jeff.
After the gig finished at midnight or so, people started heading to karaoke. I had drank alot of wine, and wasn't up for 40 person karaoke, so I headed back to Jeff's and went to bed!
About an hour later Jeff came home, knackered from singing and playing his little heart out at the gig. Then Cherie, Shige, JD, Monica and Clare all came back at various times until the early morning.
We all slept in until late, and then got ready and went to Maccas for lunch. After the Maccas revival we headed to the beach! Long time, no see!

Ready for the beach!

The 30 4WDs and jetskis were to the right of this photo....

It was so refreshing and relaxing to be in the water.

A mummy! Or maybe it's Cherie hiding from the sun's rays.

Best photo of the weekend.

More ALTs frollicking in the ocean.
Around 6pm we left the beach and began the long drive home. We stopped in Higashine so I could pick up some books from another ALT, then we stopped in Tendo to have some delicous pasta and foccacia for dinner. Finally we got back to Nagai and I dropped JD and Monica off, then I got back to Yonezawa sometime after 10pm. KNACKERED!!
But it was a great weekend and it's always good to see friends and aquaintances.
In the end, I kind of didn't say goodbye to anyone though! 'Cause goodbyes suck!
Now it's four more sleeps until Disneyland!!! And the inevitable SWEAT factor of Kanto!

A Bloody Big Photo Update!
Trying to catch up before more stuff happens I have to write about! Rewind.....
21st June.
I hung out with Monica all day. She came into Yonezawa in the morning and we got our hair cut at Fumi's house by Umetsu (now working as a freelancer). Yaay for saving money! It took ages though because I got a couple of colours put in.
Umetsu and Monica.
After that, we were starving so we went to a cafe and ate way too much for lunch! We rolled ourselves out the door and went to SATY for a look. And to take puri kura! Then we headed back to Nagai via Kawanishi and the park there. The flowers weren't in bloom but we still had fun walking around taking photos of stuff.

Rice paddies everywhere!

*Sniff*

These caterpillars are so cute!! I used to love playing with them when I was a kid.

Ducky! About four of them swam straight over to us, obviously expecting some bread or something. Sorry, we had nothing!

Clouds are cool.

Monica playing on the playground!
After the park we went to a nearby temple for a look.

Then back to Nagai to chill out with a Disney DVD (until it stopped working!), and then we went out to dinner with Maggy and JoeyD. Even though it was a late dinner, we were still a bit full from lunch. Of course, I then overate at dinnertime too! >_<
That night Maggy and I slept over at JoeyD's. It was the first time I had ever been to his place, and maybe the first time he had had guests stay over! But he was nice and looked after our demands for air con!
22nd June.
Maggy left to head back to Kahoku while JoeyD and I headed to Iide for his taiko concert. I got to go on the bus with his taiko group, meaning I didn't have to pay to enter the park. Yaay. I was JD'S manager for the morning. He was pretty nervous but he did well. While they were preparing I walked around the park taking photos of the many kinds of lillies.

I so wanted to go on this...

Hello ant! Thank you nice new camera!

JoeyD and Kaitlin with their taiko group.

The face of concentration.

Finish!
After the concert we went and drank some green tea. It's not even that bad (as I first thought when I tried it at 16!).

Then it was back to city hall or somewhere so they could drop all of their gear off.

No idea what they are, but they're cute!
After that I said goodbye to JoeyD and headed back to Yonezawa to relax for the rest of the day. Mmm, lazy Sundays!
24th June.
Was Al's birthday dinner at an Italian restaurant. Except when we got there the restaurant was closed. Oops. So we tried another Italian place....which was now a fish place!! So we said stuff it and went to Coco's! Where they have the best lemon drink ever! Hi C!!! Why can't I find this in the supermarket though?
Anyway, about ten of us ate dinner and Al opened his presents, and got some cake given to him by Coco's. Then we headed to Sega World to play games and take puri kura.

Deciding what to order...?

Lovely greasy pizza!

Happy with a slice of cake! And a birthday hat.

Chris and a picture of Al's mum.

Ceed tried curry icecream!! The flavour wasn't so strong luckily!

JoeyD and Dan playing air hockey.

Racing face!

Decorating puri kura.

Wow, wish I could win this prize. Not.

Jesse wanted to hit stuff.

So did JoeyD and Ceed.

More faces of concentration!
27th June.
I was going to stay home and relax, but JD called and said he was coming into Yonezawa so we went and ate dinner (Maccas), then checked out speakers at Yamada Denki, and then went to Sega World for puri (can't get enough!) and played a couple of games. I'm not good at video games but we played air hockey (my second time ever I think) and Mario Carts (so much fun!!).
28th June.
JoeyD had a curry craving and I love the stuff too, so I made a couple of different ones, as well as rice, and bought some naan, and went to his house. He made another curry and then we noshed out.

Alot of curry!

Delicious!

We washed it down with parfaits from Lawsons.
We watched TV and chatted, and I stayed over at his house again.
29th June.
Today, JD, Monica and I went to Kahoku to see Maggy and hang out at her house and watch Disney movies, in preperation for our trip to Disneyland next long weekend!! Nicole also joined us.

Yaay for small inaka roads.

Shy driver.

Bit cloudy....

Maggy's building...not so new!
Before watching movies we went out to lunch to a mexican restaurant! I don't know how a really small town has a mexican restaurant, but they do! Apparently it's the place to hang out on Friday / Saturday nights because it has yummy drinks and darts!
The food was delicious although I don't know how 'Mexican' it is!

Onion rings were delicious!

Nicole's shocked face when she saw my new camera.

Cinnamon chips were addictive.
After lunch (and being FULL yet again) we went to Shimamura, then to Maggy's house. I finally met Luna!!

Nicole's chest and Luna.
Hamsters are so friggin' cute!

Monica playing with Luna (at least it didn't pee on her, ay Nicole!?!)
We watched movies and ate snacks, and I did some marking of tests!

Playing UNO instead of watching 'Rescuers Down Under'.
Nicole and especially Maggy seemed to know all of the songs of the Disney movies. I know nothing!!! My parents were never ones to buy videos for me (until I got older and then I wanted music videos!).

Luna! かわいいね!
After watching four movies (A Goofy Movie, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Rescuers Down Under) and eating ourselves into oblivion, we headed back to Nagai / Yonezawa, exhausted!
2nd July.
Class Match Day!
I managed to watch more of this one than last year's, although I still missed the last game (the eat really fast game) because the gym was hot and I wanted to bask in the air con in the English teacher's room.
As usual, the t-shirts the homerooms wore were funny.

My favourite!

Third years playing basketball. The actual club members were really good to watch!

Interesting because the last name on the right is 'Ryan'. What? Japanese joke....

I went outside to watch some of the softball.

My sunnies look better on me!

Indeed you are.....
not really!

This student is good looking and has a brain! He wants to work in rehabilitation in the future.

Tanabata decorations.

Wagatsuma's class t-shirt had his face on it! Lovely!

Utensils for the bean game (moving beans from one plate to another using different utensils).

I guess that's why chopsticks were invented, pens are just too cumbersome.

One of the shyest guys in the 2nd grade pro course is actually good at gymnastics! The things you don't know about people...

This is Zhang, who I talk to after school twice a week for an hour or so. His English is pretty good and he is enthusiastic to learn more. He wasn't fond of the t-shirt his class chose though!

Hallway in school (in the 'old' section).

This should be my shirt!

Waiting around for the next event.

Big!

They're laughing at his outfit.
Or maybe that was just me.

I like her hair!

More jumping.
Each class had to jump as much as they could in five minutes and the class with the most jumps won! I think it would be pretty hard!
Anyway, that's about my update for now. Not so detailed (no, really, it isn't), but that's because as I turned another year older, my brain lost a few more memory cells.
The rest of July is going to be pretty busy with stuff.

My Birthday!
Well, as you would have noticed I have been pretty slack on the blogging front lately. I have been busy on weekends, and during the weekdays I am too lazy...
Anyway, last Friday (July 4th!) I turned 32! Hoorah for being old with no boyfriend and no money!!
But hey, at least I have some wonderful friends who totally spoilt me on the 5th when we all went to Sendai!
I left Yonezawa around 5pm ( I had to work in the morning and nap in the afternoon) and went down to Fukushima and then across to Sendai on the highway. It cost me 1900 yen but it was so wonderful to be able to go fast!!! Gave the ol' car a workout at 120-140kph, but I like to think it needs it sometimes after plodding along at 40-50kph around town all the time (or less if you are stuck behind a mum / old lady / farmer's truck).
Anyway, I got to Sendai before 7pm (Sendai traffic is crazy!) and went to the hotel and met my friends in one of the rooms we had booked. After everyone had arrived they took me next door where they had decorated my room with lots of fun birthday stuff!!! Monica, Maggy and JoeyD had been working their asses off during the afternoon to decorate!
First... the cake! Boobies!!! Monica made it on Friday and brought it all the way over to Sendai via two trains so yeah, props to her!! It was delicious too!

My party hat and birthday poppers.

The birthday sign and other decorations.

Detail on the 'I' in birthday!!
They had decorated the whole room! The walls, the desk, the bathroom mirror...it was great!
I then cut the cake and we drank some wine and they sang Happy Birthday.
Amanda and Waka also joined us during the celebrations.

Me and my new set of playing cards. Better than my Hello Kitty ones!

Posers.

Amanda and JoeyD checking out the giftbag Nicole got me.

The gang! Minus Waka who was taking the photo.
I got some cool stuff! A t-shirt and homemade handbag, a koala bear necklace, CDs and diving rods (!), sexy badges (from Nicole of course), lipstick holder, instant mashed potato (YUM!), and lots of stuff for looking after my camera from JoeyD! Oh, and the sexy playing cards where the guys all had their manbits blacked out! This is Japan after all!
After cake and wine and present opening and talking and taking photos, we headed to an izakaya for nomihoudai and some food.

Cheers!
Surprisingly enough, none of us got very drunk! Although, we didn't need to be drunk to still tell interesting stories or compare nipple colour! Luckily the room we were in was closed off!

What long tongues you have...

JD and his mini cocktail!

Kat telling the best story ever!

Nic and me sexually harassing Maggy.

Amanda and JoeyD became fast friends!
Group shot (minus Mon!)
(Photo stolen from Amanda)
After the izakaya we hung out in the mall a bit and saw these guys driving through the mall showing off their cars. I guess this happens every Saturday night.

Then we said goodbye to Amanda who headed home, and the rest of us went to Bar Isn't It?
I hadn't been here since last year but damn...it had changed! It was EMPTY!!!
Where the heck are all the Sendai people hanging out these days? (Please don't say karaoke...)
Anyway, at least we had the dancefloor almost to ourselves!
I only had one more drink and then hit the waters!! Party animal...not!

Nicole in the loo! Ha ha!

Empty club...

Shaking what their mamma gave them.

JD was out for the count.
Waka and JoeyD left around 1am maybe, and then Maggy and me followed close behind at 1:30am I think! Monica, Nicole and Kat stayed out to much later!
The next day Kat left really early to go do stuff back in Yamagata, Nicole and Monica were in bed sleeping, and so Maggy, JD, and me went to Starbucks and then met Waka to go and get some Indian food. Before the restaurant we went to a foreign food store to check out what they had. I bought a couple of things (Weetabix and BBQ sauce!) while some other random lady spent 27000 yen on stuff!! WTF?!!! Rich!!! Hasn't she heard of Max Value?
We went to the restaurant, basking in the aircon, and got our food (all you can eat / drink (soft drinks) for 1800 yen). It was so delicious! The management had changed recently apparently but the food was still good and the new manager was really nice to us!

Curries and naan and rice and a potato ball thing.

I love his t-shirt.
After that we went shopping and eventually met up with Monica and Nicole.

It always makes me laugh.
Then, it was puri kura time (haven't scanned them in yet, sorry)!

This guy was crazy on the DJ machine thingy. His friend was there filming him!

Monica watching Maggy do DDR.
After puri kura we split up and JD, Waka and me walked back towards the station while the other three continued walking away from the station!
Waka met up with another friend and then it was just me and JoeyD. We went to the bookshop and to another foreign food store at the station. Hot and tired, but satisfied, we headed back to the hotel.

Can't you see the joy in our faces?

Thanks Toyoko Inn!

JoeyD and all our stuff (mostly his because he went on a shopping binge!).
JD and I piled the car up with stuff and then headed back to Yamagata City, stopping at a supermarket, and then heading on to Nagai. It was raining like crazy but it was nice (and funny running through it!).
I dropped JD off and then headed back to Yonezawa, stuffed!! It was so nice to get home and relax!
Anyway, it was a really good weekend and I was really happy to have friends that care about me! Awwww...
Thanks everyone!!!!
