| Holy cow, has it really been 2 months since my last entry? Time flies! Today is Columbus Day and I finally have a day off. It's almost 11:00 a.m. and yes I am still in my pajamas. It feels great. I wish I could say I've spent the day cleaning, rearranging my house, or something practical, but I have done nothing and it feels pretty good. Have you ever seen Office Space? Aside from the language, it is the funniest movie. I feel like Peter Gibbons today - I've done absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it would be. So often we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and don't take time out for ourselves, or more importantly others. I have to admit, a dear friend of mine has been calling me for weeks, and I have yet to get back with her. Sure I'm busy with work, volunteering and taking college courses again, but when did I get too busy for people? Will life ever slow down? If you are reading this, I want to tell my friends I love them dearly and will do a better job keeping in contact and yes, returning phone calls. | | |
| Howdy guys and gals! No matter how far I move from Oklahoma, the slang seems to stay. Tons of crazy things have happened since I last wrote. For one, my computer crashed. That's right - it literally died one day. I took it to the mac store, waited a couple hours (literally), paid $156 to try to recover any ounce of my life and work that was on the hard drive, but got nada, zip, zilch. So every picture, song, lesson plan was wiped out in a matter of seconds. It's been very trying standing in line at the local public library waiting forever for the chance to jump on a computer (don't the patrons read the 20 minute limit signs?). After careful deliberation, I purchased a new computer - a iMac G5 with Superdrive. I got a nice education discount, but literally within 5 minutes of when I got home and turned on the news, there was a story about "No Tax Days" in Missouri on back to school items, clothing, COMPUTERS or COMPUTER SOFTWARE beginning on Friday, Aug. 5. I bought the computer on Thursday, Aug. 4. The salesman failed to mention the extra couple hundred dollars I could have saved even though the mac store knew about tax free days for months! So I did the rational thing and tried to return it on Friday, only to re-purchase it tax free. It was a no go situation and I felt like a prosecuting attorney going for the jugular trying to plead my case for returning and re-purchasing the computer, but still got no break. So, I lugged the whole thing back home. What luck!
I also went to the dentist last week for what I thought would be a regular checkup and ended up walking out with not one, but two root canals! I knew my two teeth were sore but two root canals was enough excitement for one day. Not much else is going on at the moment, but I look forward to hearing from my friends anytime. More updates to come.

| Okay so I seem to have this computer thing down. What ever happened to good old fashioned typewritters and telephones?! I'm talking land lines people - NOT cell phones. Anyway, I spent the day unpacking boxes and painting my living room. I found a ton of old pictures from my ORU days. I really miss everyone, but this site is so great because I'm reading about all the cool things everyone is doing. I found the pictures from our road trip to NYC in 2001. Eb, Dylan...remember? We need to create some new memories together - anyone up for a reunion? Speaking of which, my 10 year high school reunion is next year already! Where does the time go? Well, to sum it up shortly what's happened since ORU, I re-met Matt (an old friend from high school) just days after my ORU graduation in May 2002. He was traveling with Blast, a broadway show that was doing a U.S. & European tour. I went to a show in Tulsa and went backstage just to say "hello" after a show, but we became immediately inseperable. It was tough with him on the road and me in grand ole Tulsa, Oklahoma (aka the middle of nowhere), but God kept me content. In July 2003, Matt and I were married, lived one year in Tulsa (he worked with Union High School's music department and I worked for an adoption attorney), then an amazing job opportunity opened up for both of us in the St. Louis area, and since our home church and families both lived here, it was a no-brainer to make the move. Now I work with kiddos with 'behavior difficulties' and Matt is the assistant band director for a large area high school. They just won 2004-2005 state music champs! I love working in a school because I have the summer off! God really orchestrated that because around Christmas I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Unless you've experienced hearing the word "CANCER" come out of your doctor's mouth, you can only fathom the shock, fear, and sadness I felt. I truly had to totally lean and trust God for a miracle and honestly, God gave me the peace that passes ALL understanding. After several tests, etc., it was discovered it was spreading, but had not reached my lymph nodes or any other major organs, so two surgeries later, I am now CANCER FREE! Praise the Lord! I'm over the hump now, but have to go back every 3 months for the next 2 years for tests, but I believe I am totally healed and a cancer cell will never come back into my body. I'll tell you one thing though, I sure look at life differently now. The grass is just a little greener, the sun shines just a little brighter, and I appreciate my life and all that I have been blessed with just a little more. | | |
