Growing up means.... That after working for 2.5 yrs at my first job, I get to be recruited at a new company and start all over again as the newbie. (Bye bye Todai and Fiore, and hello to CJ www.english.cj.net) Not dreading family vacations and actually enjoying a pleasant time spent with only family. (My parents came to visit and we went to Vegas. Stayed at the Venetian, which I highly recommend especially if you're going with more than one person, the rooms are suites and are very large and comfortable. Our last trip there we stayed at the Bellagio which was very elegant and nice, but the rooms weren't as GRAND as the Venetian stuies. By the way "O" by Cirque du Soleil is a MUST SEE!!!! David Copperfield's show had some cool parts but overall I thought it was a very self-praising show which featured around 30 minutes of clips showing all the shows, movies, songs, his name was featured on.... ~lame )
Meeting up with old friends once in a while and spending HOURS talking about the good old days and how old we've grown. (It was fantastic seeing you Jay! And who knew La Habra hid such paradise up in its hills, maybe some day we can bump into Richard Gere ) Soaking up the sounds of beautiful voices such as Andrea Bocelli and totally enjoying oldies sang by him.... (I totally love how he sings the spanish songs I used to hear older people listen to while I was a kid) Being ecstatic about finding the "perfect" dessert, a not too sweet, not too creamy chocolate cake. (Trattoria Tre Venezie: not your typical Italian food restaurant, very rustic flavors-- none of the red tomato sauce with meatballs, all the pastas are made in house. It took around 15 mins for them to bring out our dessert, but after the first bite we forgot about the wait because it was TOTALLY wortht it. Vic who doesn't like sweet confections totally delighted in this chocolate cake. YUUUUM.)
Realizing that "cool" food is not necessarily "good" food. ("Asia de Cuba" is a very cool restaurant located in the very hip Mondrian Hotel -where "validated" valet parking is still $15 . Their menu is a fusion of Latin American and Asian food and all the dishes are very creative and "cool sounding", but that's all it is, the dishes sound cool but are not tasty. Vic and I were joking how restaurants will call anything that they add avocado, mangos, mayonnaise as fusion food. Nonetheless it was a very highly paid disappointing meal. Realizing that if I watched a certain movie of today while I was in highschool I would have been very indifferent to it. ( "Stranger Than Fiction" starring Will Farrell and Emma Thompson was to me the perfect movie to watch for my liking these days- a bit of a dark comedy feeling. Needless to say the underlying theme or morale was really good, "enjoy life- make something good of it." I usually find Will Farrell annoying in his stupid comedy movies, but I have to admit he did quite a good job in this one. I guess in h.s I enjoyed movies with a strong feature such as action, drama, comedy, etc., but this movie overall was subtle nothing that jumped out to get your attention but definitely a GOOD solid movie.) |
