Eight Family Medicine interviews is better than none!

Okay.. so let me review
Family medicine - the field of medicine that is more about people than any other specialty in medicine - will be a part of my life and part of my professional career.

I applied to 11 programs, and was offered 8 interviews - I just recieved my last rejection from UCSF to make it official (I will not interview any west coast program). I'm just thankful to God I got that many interviews.
I have 3 interviews remaining. All my interviews so far have been stimulating except for one, which is a completely unacceptable residency program.

My options: Brown, UNC Chapel Hill, Dartmouth, University of New Mexico, Columbia, Montefiore, and Rochester

Striving for excellence, such an easy choice once I narrow down what is it that I truly want.

Family Medicine Residency or Excuse to do a Cross Country Trip? you decide

So far, I have applied to Family medicine programs in the following state (Please do not feel offended if I didn't apply to your state; residency applications are expensive!)

New Hampshire - Live free or Die
New York - the Empire State
Rhode Island - the smallest state
North Carolina - the Blue Devil's state
New Mexico - the Silver State
California - the State that is like two states
Oregon - I think Lewis and Clark Explored this place state
Washington - the Free Willy State.

11 programs,
one month
one Donald
one camera
and I'm pretty sure a ton on opportunities to see life outside of Flatbush Brooklyn
I'm excited and grateful to know...
It is all in God's hands

Praise God if I get 11 interviews!

Personal statements... Family Practice Medicine

so this summer is the summer I get to write and re-write my personal statement; so far I've been having a hard time doing that.. I don't know what to say about myself really.. I don't know what not to say about myself..
and unfortunately.. tomorrow is the day when I need my personal statement the most.. I hardly have a paragraph written...
maybe all I need to say about myself is that one paragraph.. maybe there is not too much to me except what I've written on papers.. and what the school wants to say about who I am. I honestly don't know.

I do know, however, that I need to be needed.
Send me where I am needed.

appreciation for Women's health.. the end of OB/GYN

it's finally over.. I helped with atleast 10 deliveries.. saw 4 c sections.. did "enough" exams on patients... and now I have a growing appreciation for the field of OB/GYN as well ass a broader appreciation for women's health. It is our role as physicians to be not only patient advocates but patient advisors as well - keeping in mind the patient's best interest, how the things we do (and in some cases, not do) will affect their sex lives, reproductive life, possibility to have children; the psychosocial effects of what we say, do, and omit are outstanding!
