  • A Child's View

My three year old nephew and I were on the back roads one afternoon when we drove past Elmer's farm.
    I said "Oh look,there's Elmer."
My nephew said "I want to see Elmer!"
I was surprised that he knew Elmer so well but I thought maybe
he remembered when Elmer took us on the hay ride last fall .

I turned around to go back to Elmer's farm  and the little one said
"Oh,I am SO excited to finally meet Elmo, I LOVE ELMO!!!!"

  • Johan DeTurk Cabin

One of the prettiest ,most well preserved buildings in the Oley Valley
is the Johan DeTurk Cabin which is almost 250 years old.DeTurk House
It was built in 1767  as an ancillary house (one for their old age)
    by Johan and Deborah DeTurk.

Johan had built the larger stone house located across the street
which you can see in this photo.
    Two DeTurk Homes

The building is an example of the Huguenot and Germanic influence
on the Oley Valley and is a bank house (built into the bank of a hill).
The structure is a one and a half story, one-room plan building.

    She was a farmer/preacher's wife
who many people admire for her testimony and strong faith.

  • The trouble with watching TV shows on DVD is that I keep waiting for commercials before I will get up to go to the bathroom.
  • Every morning when I visit my mom she serves me orange juice in a  Teletubbies cup. It really makes me wonder....
  • I am going away fron Fri-Sun. I am attending a 'Lose it for Life' Intensive Workshop. Hoping to come back with some new motivation.
