God is good.

Spring break is finally here. Even though this break will not be very restful for my body, the Lord will restore my soul. He already is. This weekend I went on the Hunger for Catholic Missions. I fasted for 30 hours and met some amazing people. I spent time with men and women dying from incurable cancer. They were beautiful and full of hope, joy and peace. Yet again I am shown that suffering is fruitful. Some may see the suffering and wonder if there is a God. I see the hope and comfort and wonder how could there not?

Tomorrow I am leaving for Kansas City to work on a Habitat for Humanity house. I'm excited to see how Christ will work.

Psalm 23

"How beautiful the radiant bride, who waits for her groom with His light in her eyes."

My heart is heavy. As you may have seen in the news, the MN National Guard troops have had their deployment extended for 3-6 months. This means Nathaniel won't be coming home in March. Although I knew it was a possiblity, it's still a tough blow to recover from.

Hem me in Lord.

Hey y'all. I'm back in podunk River Falls. I'm an RA this year (which explains why I'm up at 4:45 am) and I LOVE IT. My hall staff is amazing and I'm learning so much OUTSIDE of the classroom. I'm a homeschooler to the bone, forever. I love you all and miss you.

"The purpose of education is to show a person how to define himself authentically and spontaneously in relation to his world - not to impose a prefabricated definition fo the world, still less an arbitrary definition of the individual himself." - Thomas Merton in "Love and Living"

Here is a picture from a tea party. Yah, words fail me. Except, Colin Firth is gorgeous.

On Monday I went to the spa and my manicurist spoke some amazing political advice. In her words, "I don't know why someone hasn't thought of it yet!" After learning that my boyfriend is in Iraq she decided to give me her two cents about the war (just like everyone else).
Here is her opinion:

1) Why are we even there, bring 'em all home

2) Iraq should deal with their own problems, why hasn't someone thought of this?!?

3) Stop allowing any middle eastern type people into the US (I mean, "all they do is bomb stuff")

And that ladies and gentleman is why women don't run our country.

"When women are upset the either go shopping or eat chocolate, men invade countries. It's a whole different way of thinking"  - some wild woman
