| Well, I have passed my "candidacy exam" today. It was fun, which is not what I would have expected! I just presented some of my recent original research (on the theory of relativity) in a seminar setting.
This means I'm a "PhD candidate." Which sort of means that it remains for me to write a thesis and then I will have a PhD. The rules say that I have 3 years left. That should be enough. I've been here for almost 3 years so far. So I'm just about half-way. Now, I'm not in any hurry to graduate. I want to build up my reputation as a researcher as much as possible before I graduate so that I can get a good postdoc position. |
