Holy freaking crap I think I just got placed in Yokohama for JET.
I don't even know how to react to this. First reaction was to pace around the room in shock saying "YOKOHAMA?!?!?!"
Hmm just realized that to everyone who reads this blog the name Yokohama doesn't mean anything. Basically Yokohama is about a half hour train ride (almost nothing) to the center of Tokyo, right by my school and everything that I know from my time in Japan. Yokohama means that I can go to kendo practices of the kendo team here at Todai every weekend. Yokohama means that I can get off work, take the train, and go drinking with all of my friends that are still in school here. Yokohama means I'm a walk away from the port and the oceanside, and probably one of the most beautiful areas of Japan, Minato-mirai, where I've had my own share of special memories.
Yokohama means that it turned out to be ok to put medical school on hold for one year.
Yokohama means that I have very powerful friends, because I didn't even ask for Yokohama on the application. I asked for the prefecture that it's in, which is pretty large.
And... Yokohama means a second chance.

I had been planning on writing a xanga post for a while, actually. First plan was to write about my undergraduate experience, since I had just graduated and was leaving for Japan for a month. Next plan was to write about my month in Japan, from which I will be going home in 3 days. But now all of that has been trumped by news that this upcoming year might be the most amazing of them all.

Well I'll get around to the other stuff eventually. For now, I think I'll pace around some more.
