| WOW, havent posted in a real long time. Summer is going well. Last week was one of the greatest weeks ever, minus some hidden expenses that I didnt forsee. I decided last weekend, Firday at 4:00 PM exaclty that I was going to drive to NY to suprise my dad for the 4th of July. Since I was passing through VA I figured I would visit a friend. Just about out of NC, on I-85, I was picked up at 2:58am in one of there 55 zones that extends for 2 miles from a 70 zone, and it was not work zone. Managed to find the only state trooper that was awake then I guess. Anyways I was the last car in the pack and got Picked up 79 in a 55. Needless to say, it didnt look good for me since the guy didnt lower the speed or anything and gave me a manditory court appearence date. Got the VA at 6am, so after a long day I was ready to crash. Left Sunday to travel all the way home. My friend went with me and we got to NY at 5:30 or so. My dad had no idea I was comming, so it was cool to see the look on his face. Although I didnt expect him to almost cry. So a suprise indeed. The next day was the 4th. Had a picnic with the family, and no one knew I was home until they came out. My godmother almost got a heart attack when I walked into the kitchen when she was there. Same happened with my aunts. Later that evening I went to my best friends grandparents cottage to watch some fireworks. It was nice to be back on the lake where I grew up and havent been in 8 months. Got to see many old friends too. Tuesday took my car in to get an insection and gave my dad another wonderful suprise. My back brakes all needed to be replaced. And I needed a new thermistat put in. $1000 later my car was okayed for the return trip, but it didnt get done till thursday. My friend visiting has never been to NY so I figured we might as well go to Niagra Falls. We left early to go up there so that it wouldnt be late when we got back. It was a gorgeous day outside. I lived in Buffalo for almost 2 years so they werent a big deal to me, although it was awesome to watch something so beautiful that God created. She loved every minute of it. After the Niagra Falls trip I became a lifetime Hard Rocker with my cool all access path. (Ok so I just bought it for the track bag) traveled back to VA the next day. Stayed in Lynchurgh for a day to wait to see what the hurricane was doing and made the trip home.
Just today I found out that I dont have to go to NC to appear in court after all, I managed to impress a lady that worked at the DA's office enough to get the fine reduced from an originally estimated $400 to $125.
The weeks travels were wonderful and it was worth the ride North. I hope everyone here is having a great summer. Hopefully the spaceshuttle will go off tomorrow. In another week and a half I travel back to VA to work a church camp that my friends dad asked me to do, so that is really cool. Talk to you all later.
| I havent posted in a long time. Everything is going alright. Hope everyone is having a great summer. Basketball camps are fun to work. A lot of 5 and 6 year olds to deal with, but they can be fun. Flying is going well, if it would only stop storming at night I would be so happy. | | |
| This past weekend was pritty good. Got to see some people that you would think that I would see a whole lot more, but maybe once a week or twice is all I see them. That was good to just be able to hangout and talk to some and catch up on what is going on in peoples lives.
I only have 15 more flights in the first half of my commercial flight course. Should knock two out just about each day of this week. So that will all be good, then I really get the rest of the summer to concentrate on my running since that seems to be the only thing that I will have to do around here other than working at my new job. Since I will be the only one at my job during June and Possibly July, I wont get a day off for those 2 months since it is a 7 day a week operation and the schedule changes from day to day if we have a flight or not. So those two months will be incredibly insane I would say. But at least I will be making some money which will be real nice rather than just spending it all.
My parents are supposedly comming down here sometime in June or July, not certain when they are going to do that. I think I will have to fly over to Tampa to see them though since that is where my mom and sister are going to be. Dont know what my dad is going to do. He doesnt like to travel, however he seems to want to drive down. We shall see.
Hope everything is going good for everyone that is around or not this summer. Keep in touch and have a good day.
| Confused
So this summer is starting off ok, a little disoriented at the start keeping track of what day it is. The job situation might just be taken care off for the time being. We will have to wait and see, should know for sure in a day or two.
Their are just soo many things that seem to play with my mind and question me in what direction to go and why, or what is the reason for me thinking such things. In the whole scheme of things I probably shouldnt be feeling or thinking anything that I am at the moment. I seriously thought that I was done and over with such emotions. Alls it has led me to before is indesirable results and endings that take a long time to get re-established. None of this that I am typing seems to make much sense, it seems to be all jumbled around and random thoughts. Alls there is to do is continue down the road of life never knowing what is going to happen. Just have to follow the path that is layed out for you and make the most of what you are given. Someday maybe I will be able to make sense of what happened in my life over the course of the last 8 months and the reason for it all. Until then I guess I will just be wondering in the haze of it all.
| Today is the day of my first of two finals. I am not worried about this one as I am the one tomorrow. I am not a giant physics person so if anyone can help with the physics 2 that would be cool. (you can take the test if you want too.) Still looking for a job. Havent heard back anywhere yet, kind of disconcerning. Hopefully I will hear from someone.
Yesterday was a very interesting day. I flew from Melbourne to Pampano Beach to Key West, back to Boca, and then to Melbourne again solo. The way down near Pampano wasnt too back, climbing and decending through cloud decks and getting to the airport with 1100 foot ceilings....yeah, a little iffy. So I checked the weather when I got there before traveling down to the Keys. I was told by the weather service that I wouldnt have any problems so I said ok, I was good to go. Taking off of Pampano wasnt bad, clouds were still pritty low however. Got near Fort Lauderdale and it wasnt much better. Passed straight over that airport, then made it to Miami were they let me pass over at 1000' so I got to see a lot of really big planes. Then went out along the coast and followed the chain of islands down. Finally after not hearing anyone of the radios forever, Key West Approach finally responded. Weather was soo much clearer in Key West. First time I had seen the sun all flight.
After getting to Key West however I wasnt able to take a break however as I had planned. It was fuel and go. It was scary after take off that I had an Air Force 757 cruising at the same altitude as I was but they were in the clouds so I couldnt see them and they were less than a mile off my wing I was told. 2 F-18's took off when I was right next to the airport down there too, that was neat. Got to see the balloon that is teathered to the ground usually at 14,000 feet, but today was only 2900, good thing, cause I wouldnt want to run into that cable. When getting near the main land on the way back I could see the thunderstorm forming in the distance, then lightening. I started to look to divert to the west, however one started from the west moving east. I was in a very tight spot. Got turbulence from the one that tossed my plane all over like crazy (I thought it was going to fall apart). Once near Miami again it was very interesting. They said stay East of the airport, 1.5-2 miles off the sore. Oh, did I mention that they said at or below 500 feet. It was shady. Right as i was perpendicular to the airport a 757 taking off was 400 feet above me passing over. I felt small. To add onto all this I got lots of big raing drops. After much delema, I made it to Boca and got on the ground. Flight back to Melbourne was nice and clear. When I got down on the ground at Boca I looked at the radar and couldnt believe I made it through that mess. The two front collided right after I made it through. I defenatly had a guardian on that flight.
