| So I'm updating again. Its been a while! Well, I'm on vacation in sunny Ontario, enjoying the water, sun, and relaxation. Although this is vacation...a summer vacation on the lake rarely goes by without some "work" or "excitement" of some kind. This summer I've....attached a small motor to the rowboat and worked out the bugs in it! It runs well!! I've also done some troubleshooting on leaky sinks, water pumps, and a little "animal" problem. Yeah, I did say animals! I helped some friends up here with some "noises" they were hearing in an old closed off chimney. Any guesses what it was? Well, our first guesses were...a mouse...or a red squirrel (like it's United States cousin, but a lot more of a pest). Well, we were wrong on both guesses. After a look down the chimney from the roof, a trip to the attic to make sure there weren't holes, and some fiddling with the chimney pipe (aluminum)...we found our little problems. 7 of them to be exact. Yup, seven bats greeted us when we took the closed trash bag outside and set it down on the driveway. Needless to say, we were very happy to have them out of the house...but still a little surprised to see the little guys crawling out of the bag, starring at us for a minute, then stretching out and flying away into the trees. Ahhh, fun still...the stuff that makes vacations memorable. In other news, vacation ends soon and I head off to Aviation Maintenance school. That's about it.

| So I've come to understand that I don't use this much anymore. hmm...reasons for not using xanga... 1. can't access it at home. 2. rarely have my computer away from home where I CAN access it. 3. Facebook is a versatile way to keep updated and in touch with so many friends.
So...why am I on xanga today then?!?! Well, I'm not at home! ...novel thought huh : ) I'm actually in NJ for a few days. Harvey Cedars Bible Conference. Anyway, thought I'd update this while I'm here. I don't even know who is subscribed to this anymore. Drop me a note on Facebook if you still read these random xanga posts.
Life over the last few months has been challenging. Continuing to learn how to function well in a family after 2 years of Bible College. The longer I am away from the "close" wolbi environment the more I realize which friendships were really friendships at the BI, and which were just people I knew on the surface. I miss the BI environment where it was much easier to get to know someone (in person communication and interaction). Didn't do enough of that with some people...or the times I tried to do that I didn't do it well (to where it was understood for what it was). Another "life lesson" now that I'm away from the BI is that "friendship" between a guy and girl is more or less nonexistent in today's Christian circles. "Guy wants to get to know a girl as friends...the immediate assumption is that he's focused in on this girl as a possible girlfriend.....or spouse." Not true! Sure there are Christian guys out there that do do this....unfortunately they've crippled a girl's understanding of what guys can want....friendship. Friendship...the opportunity for two people to get to know each other. Dating...two people agreeing to spend time alone (or occasionally in groups) getting to know each other with the intent of finding a spouse. (...those are my definitions)
Anyway, I think I've rambled enough for one day on this issue.
Keep in touch everybody! Even if I didn't get to know you well at the BI or wherever else...no better time than now!

| Wow it is going on 4 months since I last updated my xanga. I don't have access to xanga very often anymore...so that would be one reason for not updating. The other is that while there are starbucks nearby with wireless internet, I haven't taken the time to pack up my computer and go spend time sipping Caramel Apple Cider or Caramel Frappucinos. So this is a post to give all of you my xanga friends another way to keep in touch. Facebook! I'm on facebook regularly (like at least once a day). http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501662182 If you have been looking for a good way to keep in touch facebook isn't a bad tool.
In other news...I GOT ACCEPTED TO A&P Aircraft Mechanic School! Yeah! So as of right now I am going to be studying aircraft maintenance in the fall! I'm really excited about this next step toward a future in missionary aviation!
This time of year also brings memories of dad as his birthday comes around. Please continue to pray for my family as we continue to adjust to life without dad. Richard "Rick" Rineer 3/27/53-11/4/05
Keep in touch everybody!

| Its getting into Christmas Time again! Just thought I would share a couple family traditions and ask about yours. My family has a lot of traditions around Christmas time. Getting a tree as a family sometime late November early December. Decorating the tree with ornaments...each of the 5 kids in my family gets an ornament each year on Christmas Eve. The ornaments usually are tied to something significant from that year. So each year we get out our boxes and put our own ornaments on the tree. By the time we get married we'll each have some ornaments to put on our own trees! Another tradition is pizza on Christmas Eve! Christmas morning, unlike a lot of other families I know, we have to wait until we hear the Christmas music turned up (really loud) before we can come downstairs. I guess the pattern is tradition too...Christmas picture on a certain set of steps in the house (oldest at the bottom, youngest at the top). Christmas stockings, the Christmas story, then breakfast. Following breakfast we go into the living room and start opening presents. We open gifts in "rounds" which spreads the gifts out throughout the day. Anyway, there are other traditions, but I won't make this any longer. What are some of your Christmas traditions or Christmas memories? | | |
| Wow, even with the chance to update this a few times a week...I haven't. Well, it has been about 3 weeks since my last update...so I should do it again. The Philly Superbowls were a lot of fun! Not exactly what I expected, but close. Even living less than an hour from Philly...Nov. 10 was my first time in the Wachovia Center. Both weeks of Superbowl were filled with familiar faces. Going down an escalator in the Center and having some Kenyan guy say "I know you" was pretty cool. Yup, Tsuma was there and we had a great time together! Later I went to Rowan U. and spent the rest of the night running the pool area and dodgeball!!! Tiring! A week later I was back in Philly for the Phila. Phantoms Superbowl. Wow...4 seats back from the glass is an awesome seat for a hockey game! I saw a lot of familiar faces again. I ran into Josh and Craig (roommates from 1st year), Dave (Collegian and dormmate from 2nd year), Ric and Ellen Garland with Shannon, and other classmates from the BI. Again I went to Rowan and ran the pool and dodgeball! If I have learned one thing it is this...staying up all night for two Fridays in a row is CRAZY! But than again how would you define BI students (and alumni)! Thanksgiving was good. Spent a few days out of town with my family! This week is a little crazy with school and life. Next week my brother and I are home alone!! Fun times, scrounging for meals (just kidding, we both cook)! | | |
