So, I saw The Dark Knight on Saturday, and it was entirely worth the hype.  I love love loved it, and want to see it again.  The theatre was crowded, but the movie held my interest to a point where at times I forgot I was surrounded by other people.  I was so into watching the film that at one point I snapped out of my daze and was like whoa.. ooh yeah, I'm in the theatre!
Now, I knew nothing about Batman before seeing this movie, no interest it him or any superheroes, or comics, or anything like that, but frankly you don't need to in order to enjoy it.  It was interesting, action-packed, and funny.  Well put-together, and each character did a great job.  None of them as much, though, as...okay, you knew this was coming, but come on, it's unavoidable...the Joker.  Heath Ledger did an absolutely in-fucking-credible job with his role, and I really cannot say enough wonderful words about him.  He deserves all the hype he gets, because that was definitely one of the most amazing characters I've ever seen in any movie EVER.  He had every single aspect of his role down, and it just all came together so well, and I can honestly say the movie would not have been the same, not have even been good really, without him.
I was so excited after seeing the movie because the Joker was just so amazing, but at the same time I was really sad because I started to realize that Heath Ledger would never be able to share with the world his amazing talents ever again.  The sad irony of it all is that he never really did such an involved, serious role, I mean, I saw him in 10 Things I Hate About You, which was a good movie but really, nothing spectacular.  Now that everyone knows just how much talent he possessed, starring in a role that could've jump started his whole career, he'll never make another movie again.  All that aside though, taking it for what it was, he did an absolutely fantastic job.  I sound like a broken record, but it really did blow my mind.  He was demented, twisted, fucked up, hilarious, and also...forgive me for this one, strangely sexy.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who felt that way    I think it was the nurses uniform that did it for me
Really though, if you haven't seen the movie yet, PLEASE do so, it's well worth the ridiculous price of the movie theatre!
