Back to blogging...maybe.

Ok so apparently it's been almost a year since I've updated my xanga site. Ehhh....I don't have much to say for myself and such conduct, other than...is Facebook a sufficient excuse? I will bore no one with an attempt at recapitulating the past year of my life, besides stating that home life is good.

Oh, and I learned how to snowboard.

Time to Say Goodbye

"I cannot say good-bye to those whom I have grown to love, for the memories we have made will last a lifetime and never know a good-bye." ~ Unknown

How do I put the last four years into a few short little paragraphs?  How do I pull myself out of a place I have grown to know and love?  How do I say goodbye to the best friends I’ve ever had?  Even though I’ve been home for a few days now, I have to confess that I still don’t exactly know the answers to those questions.  It’s still hard to grasp the fact that my time at HQ is over, yet I know God has led me home and will continue to lead, and by His grace I will continue to follow.

God has been so good to me over these last four years.  Both in the good times and the hard times, He has proven over and over again to be trustworthy and has patiently drawn me closer to Himself.  I am thankful for every circumstance during my time at HQ that He has used to strengthen my faith and to make me rely not on myself, but on Him (2 Corinthans 1:8-9).   He is Faithful!

In leaving Headquarters, I have come to see with awe the depth of the friendships God has given me. Each of you has pointed me to the Father and encouraged me and challenged me to a deeper walk with Him. I truly consider each one of you and the memories we have made together to be a gift from Him. You are all my heroes.  I know that moving home is not really saying goodbye nor is it the end of making memories.  It’s just the start of a new chapter.  My home is always open…come visit the Sunshine State!

“Goodbye may seem like forever; Farewell may seem like the end.

But in my heart, there’s a memory; And there, you’ll always be.”

~ The Fox and the Hound

No, it is NOT what you think.  It was sparkling white grape peach!

Typical.

For the past five months, I have had the immense privilege of working in this department as a purchasing agent and assistant to Sam Conway.  When I joined the department, I didn't know that the time here would be so short.  But I am grateful for what time I've had to work with these people!  It's been so much fun.  I could tell stories but they might have to kill me if I did.  It's a Family thing.

Please pray for Sam & Ann Conway as they leave here and return to North Carolina.  They have blessed so many people during their 2 1/2 years here at Headquarters.  For updates on Mr. Conway's health situation please visit www.samconway.org.

Change

Just a quick update I guess, for those who don't already know.

After almost four years, my time at IBLP HQ is coming to an end and I will be moving back to FL to work for my Dad at the end of May.  To be honest, I'm a little scared when I think about moving back home after living on my own for four years.  Chicago/IBLP is what I know best now...it's where I fit and where I'm comfortable.  It's where I've grown and learned so much and it's where I've made the greatest friends I've ever had.  It's going to be really hard to say goodbye.  But God is leading me home and I can't do anything but follow Him.  He is good and I will continute to walk one day at a time in His mercy and grace!

"Be Still, My Soul"
by Catharina von Schlegel, 1697-?
Translated by Jane Borthwick, 1813-1897

Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul, though dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears;
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrows and thy fears.
Be still, my soul; thy Jesus can repay
From His own fulness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

The gift of faith

"If we believe that God is God, our faith is not a deduction from the facts around us. It is not an instinct. It is not inferred from the happy way things work. Faith is a gift from God, and we must respond to Him with a decision: The God of the universe has spoken, we believe what He says, and we will obey. We must make a decision that we will hold in the face of all opposition and apparent contradiction.

The powers of hell can never prevail against the soul that takes its stand on God and on His Word. This kind of faith overcomes the world. The world of today must be shown. We must show them what Jesus showed the world on that dark day so long ago - that we love the Father and will do what He says."

From On Asking God Why: Reflections on Trusting God by Elisabeth Elliot

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Galatians 2:20
