summer in grand rapids

Have been spending my first summer in GR now... almost lived here for an entire year... I can't believe how fast time flies. Jason and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary coming up very soon! August 4th! We're going to take a nice little overnight trip to Spring Lake, MI and spend some time playing on their sand dunes! After checking out pictures I'm getting really excited- it should be a wonderful little trip :o)

It has been crazy to think about everything that has changed since living up here. We know so many new people and the people and friends that I see on a regular basis is completely different that it was a year ago. I miss all of my"old" friends - but have met several new friends that I feel like I've known a lifetime. There have been quite a few ladies at the gym I've gotten to know pretty well. I've really been enjoying my job at FitZone. I would have never guessed I'd be doing personal training- and currently there aren't any teaching leads for me. I have thought about putting my resume up on GR public schools webpage, but I somewhat fear I'd be getting into Amy's situation she had at Dayton Academy.... ::shrugggs:: if that was the case - I'd much rather keep my current job. It's hard when I have no connections and no leads. In the teaching field you have to know someone... I have my Ohio Teaching License now by the way!! After I finally passed my praxis - I was able to go down to Cedarville and file a new application & I got my license... I guess if I'm really serious I need to pay my fee and transfer to getting a state of Michigan license- but I don't want to pay the money if it's going to be worthless. Plus- it would be super hard leaving FZ- well it will be whenever I leave.... someday I'm sure. I've debated about pursuring my Masters in Occupational or Physical Therapy. I feel the experience I've gained at FitZone so far has prepared me for a lot of 1 on 1.... plus I'd get paid more hahaha... just wish I knew. In two years we'll probably be moving on to the next faze- maybe north carolina, maybe california.... hey I want to live somewhere warm... maybe home in ohio :o)? Jason is going to pursue his PH.D after seminary.... ahh.. i'm getting ahead of myself.... this is what I do when I don't write in xanga for a long time.

Got to play soccer Tuesday night with my friend Anna from church and the Cornerstone University girls! Anna was in my small group and she used to play soccer at cornerstone. That's how we really got connected. (she just got married!) Most of the players playing were incoming freshman- they invited everyone over to one of the players house afterwards to eat and they let me come with them! The family's house was fabulous and the food was fabulous. It looked the HGTV and the Food Network all it one... hahaha. I had so much fun. I talked with the coach very briefly about possibilities of doing something to help them out.. for me anything with soccer is super fun! plus it would help me stay involved if I ever want to coach someday... can't lose my touch. :o) It was super fun! It really made me miss soccer at c-ville though.. even the prayer before we started playing... miss home.

Mom and Dad came up to GR last weekend- wait the weekend before that- it was 4th of July weekend. I had a blast. It was really nice to have them come up here for a change. We did a lot of nice Grand Rapidsy things. Thursday night they arrived and we had dad's famous tacos and he taught jason how to make the cornmeal shells, friday morning we went to a parade in kentwood and we took them to fitzone so they could see where I work all day long. We spend the afternoon at Frederik Meijer Gardens, and watched fireworks on the bridge in downtown that night. Saturday when Jason came home from work we left to spend the entire afternoon and evening at Grand Haven! We layed on the beach grilled out, walked around the town and out on the pier, watched the boats come in at sunset and saw the musical fountain. Sunday we took them to Ada.. My parents LOVED ada.... I wish they could go there too..
Here's us four!

Well, I'm gonna wrap things ups.. jason said he's going to take me out to eat tonight on a date! Dates are so much better when you're married... you get to go home together <3

i passed!!

I PASSED THE PRAXIS PLT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my results in the mail today and I was pretty nervous about opening them... but then finally told myself- that no matter how I feel-  the number inside the envelope isn't going to change and even if it's not what I wanted to see I will just accept it and take the next step from there So I opened it....

174!!!
The passing score I needed was 165!!!
To me that's FLYING colors... like.. outer space flying colors!

I guess they say 3rd times the charm :o)
Now I can finally get my Teaching License!!

michigan winter

This is my first Michigan winter and man is it crazzzzzzy! There is SO MUCH snow up here! All the native Michigandars are telling me that it normally NOT this bad... I guess I don't have another winter up here to compare, but I know this is worse that Ohio, which I was expecting anyways. Over the past two weeks we've had what... i don't know total like probably 20 inches of snow?! And it's still going... I need to go outside and take pictures of all the snow!

I've had a lot of people asking me when my cardio lite class is starting.. I worked on some routine stuff a little more this afternoon when I got home from work- but not super long because I made dinner for my husband tonight and tried to have it ready somewhat by the time he got home. :o) The hardest part for me right now is coming up with some variety with the rountines! I have to perform a class for my boss or one of our instructors before I can actually teach our members to make sure I'm ready.

Tuesdays are my favorite nights... TV wise at least :o) American Idol - they are finally in Hollywood and we're starting to pick some of our favorites.. this is when the show is really starting to get good! Also, biggest loser is on- which I've just recently gotten into it this season. It's such a motivating show.

Exciting plans coming up... Jason is taking me to chicago this  weekend! We're celebrating our 6 month wedding anniversary slash valentine's day! He got a great rate on a hotel in downtown! We're gonna try to check out some fun local restaurants we haven't ever heard of or tried before... (not that we go to chicago very often or anything) but just something fun to do. again, hopefully the weather cooperates :o) But either way of course we'll have fun!
Just 3 more days of work and we're off :o)

well time for my shower then bed time!!

holy cow it's been so long since i've been on xanga - except for yesterday.. I literally just spent like 5 minutes clicking around trying to find how to come to the "write a new weblog page" to update!

So today I had a shorter day at work! It paid off that this past tuesday I ended up working a 12 hour day at the gym. One of my employees was like dying sick and our other girl couldn't cover, so I just stayed.. So my other girl came in early today for me! yay! It's funny how a 6 1/2 hour shift can seem short! When I got home I decided that I should work on some aerobics routines- my sign up sheet at FitZone to see if there would be any members interested in taking CardioLite now has gotten 100% full!! I'm hoping to start teaching by the end of February/ beginning of March. I brought a step home from work and have downloaded some aerobicsy music. Wow! This is really hard! Like, I know all moves and stuff... step touch, grapevine, mambo, turn step... all sorts of things, but putting them together in a 32 count routine! I'm copying some ideas from Exercise TV (thanks to comcast... another reason why I LOVE having cable.. finally for the first time in my life!) and also from some websites. So anyways.. I figure I've got to get busy!! My class is supposted to be an hour.. so I've got a lot to work on! I'm really excited though! I've always wanted to do this.
FitZone also had an enormously amazing month for sales in January!! Our club might have gotten 1st or 2nd place out of all the clubs!! We sold 81 new memberships! Come on that's got to win me a free t-shirt or something... Cedarville would give me a free t-shirt hahaha.

Tonight, I'm hoping the weather is still good enough to get out. There's a lady who does singing/songwriting who is playing at a local coffee shop in a suburb of grand rapids. She goes to our church- and actually works out at FZ. Kinda ironic.. we actually met at at FZ, and found out we both go to Ada- shows you how big ada is! I'm really excited... I think I'm gonna get a Blondie (a.k.a. a white chocolate mocha w/carmel) Another good thing about living in GR is that there's lots of coffee shops.. oh and jason is so into those little coffee drinks now hahaha... except it wasn't my doing.. it was his friend jeremy's

well time for dinner mmmmmm

Well Amy said she's bringing xanga back and she asked who's with her... so I said yes!!

Amy- it's probably just gonna be you and me reading each other's xangas hahaha...
Although- Wendy I'm gonna give a shout out to you because you still write all the time and I read it every time- so I do appreciate that. And Jen- you still write pretty frequently-which I also read.. so hey- it's good to know there's still some xanga ers out there...

gosh most of you know the updates on my life since my last post...which was.. ahem.. gosh june 2007- umm about 7 months ago! wow... ok let's see.. my sister got married, i got married, moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, I work at a FitZone for women doing workouts with ladies from 16 years old to 60 years old. It's winter right now.. there's tons of snow! I've never lived in a place where I've been around so much snow! It's pretty though- I figure if we're at least gonna have such cold weather- there better be snow to make it worth it.

I think that's all for now- I think I'm gonna try to make my xanga a little more consistent.. maybe I'll try to start using it as a journal type., maybe not worrying about if I have anything interesting to write- but just write.

Oh- this is one thing interesting- LOST is finally back on!! Whew I love that show... here's to 8 weeks of new episodes :o)

signing out :o)
