Top 10 Time Wasters For Women

Top 10 Time Wasters for Women
    by Nancy Campbell

    1. The Telephone.
You can waste hours of time talking and gossiping on the telephone. Not only is it time-wasted, but this is usually when your children get into trouble, or be naughty because they realize the phone has taken mother’s attention away from them.

    2. The TV.
I would rather live life than watch it! Teach your children to ‘live’ life, rather than watch it go by. Remember that the day is for work, the evening is for relaxation. A good rule for your home is to never turn the TV on during the day. (It’s still a time-waster in the evening too!)

    3. Reading novels when there is work to be done.
Don’t be tempted to read a novel during the hours of the night, only to wake up too tired to cope with your children during the day.

    4. Self-Pity and Worry.
Thinking about yourself is a deadly time-waster. You can’t adequately nurture your children or bless others while you use all your emotional energy on yourself.

    5. Lack of organization.
If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it. It is important to have long-range goals, and a goal for each day.

    6. Lack of Discipline.
Do what has to be done, not just what you feel like doing. This develops character.

    7. Trying to do everything at once.
Tackle one job at a time and finish it completely. Then start another job. Clean one room at a time. You don’t have to get everything done in one day.

    8. Inability to say, "No."
Stay focused. Don’t get sidetracked. Your first priority is to be a wife, a mother and homemaker. Everything else comes second.

    9. Too Much Stuff.
The more "stuff" you have in your home, the more you have to clean. The more gadgets and ornaments you have, the more you have to dust. The more toys your children own, the more you have to pick up. They only need two or three at once. Put the others away. Continually ‘de-junk’ your house. Keep only what you need.

    10. Inefficiency.
E.g. When cleaning up, don’t carry one thing to another room and then come back for something else. Put everything for one room in a box, and then take one trip to that room. Save on unnecessary movements

    I Think I'm Crazy

I must be crazy.  I'm considering joining FlyLady again.  I was crazy years ago when I joined her.  She drove me up the wall but I did seem to have more control over my house and our lives in those days.  I need some kind of help getting myself up and working on this house.  I have enjoyed sitting around doing nothing every day since the kids went back to school.  But the chores have fallen waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy behind.  The kids have gotten out of the habit of daily chores like we had when they were being homeschooled.  So tomorrow I am going to explore the FlyLady site a little more and try to wrap my mind around it all.  I will join tomorrow night and start fresh on Monday.  Ron is going out of town Monday and won't be back until Wednesday.  So, that will give me a couple of days to lose my mind and find it again.  Hopefully the house will be more presentable by the time he gets home Wednesday night.

Yep - I think I'm definitely crazy!  Please pray for me!

    Please Pray For Us

This week we are finalizing the paperwork for Michael and Lauren to apply for one of the Magnet Schools here in Nashville.  For those of you who don’t know what a Magnet School is - (Magnet schools are public schools that the “good” kids (A & B) apply to and are chosen for.  So, that means that we are less likely to have “issues” with BAD kids in high school because they only take the good kids.  Each school focuses on a specific subject – although they still teach everything.  One school focuses on Math/Science, one on Business, one on Literature/Communication and another one on the arts.  The qualified students are put into a lottery which is drawn on a certain day next month.)  If they do not get accepted at one of the Magnet School they are zoned to attend McGavock High School.  We have heard good things about McGavock. But there are also some rough kids who attend there.  Attending a magnet school would allow them to attend school with those who are good students.  The poor students are weeded out.  These schools focus on academics, which we feel will give the kids a stronger start on college.

    My request is fourfold:

    1. That we are able to get everything that we need together to turn in their applications by the deadline this Friday (1/18).
    2. That they are qualified and approved.
    3. That their numbers get chosen in the “lottery” (2/16)
    4. They will be sent to the same school.

I know that God can do ANYTHING and NOTHING is impossible for Him.  Ron and I so appreciate you partnering with us in prayer concerning our children’s education.

Thank you so much for your prayers. We believe it will make all the difference!

    3. The last thing I took a picture of was – our son shaving for the first time. Wwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh - I have posted pictures of the process on my at regular blog . Come by there and see them. He's getting so big.

    4. The most recent movie I’ve seen that I really enjoyed was – I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. (I think Kevin James is hilarious.) I'm watching for Waitress to come PPV so I can watch it.
