  • Places We Never Go

My buddy, BillBryant and his wife recently bought themselves bicycles.  Here is one place I can guarantee that you'll never find Bill riding his bike.  I'd go there unless there was a bear on the trail.

Where is one place where you'd never go?

  • The blue sky that never went away, but was only hidden by the whirling dervish of a blizzard, has reappeared.  Our reluctant spring is timidly poking its head out from beneath the snow as well.  I guess I'd better put my coffee cup down, step away from the fireplace and go out and shovel some snow that is definitely not of the "Lite" brand.

  • Exactly forty-one years ago, I was upset because I could not celebrate my birthday party in kindergarten.  School had been called off because of a blizzard.  I had never experienced a snow-day before; all I knew was that my teacher, Miss Jensen threw the best birthday parties and I didn't want to miss mine.

Today, it would seem that history is about to repeat itself.  It's May First, my birthday, and we've just been put under a Blizzard Warning for the next 24 hours.  We'll probably have to cancel my birthday dinner with my oldest and his bride-to-be.  The only thing that can make up for it is if I have as much fun jumping in the snowdrifts as I did nearly four decades ago.

  • When I met my wife, she was driving an old beat-up Ford Pinto.  You could hear it coming six blocks away.
The Pinto was notorious for exploding when rear-end collisions occurred.  The fact that Lorri drove one of these time-bombs in a town infamously populated with bad drivers made me like her all the more.  My love is a daredevil!

A recent photo that I stumbled upon on the internet, now reveals that Pintos have had a history of spontaneous combustion dating back all the way to the Wild West.

(Maybe it was the overconsumption of beans by their riders.)

About Me

  • "Valour needs first strength, then a weapon." -J.R.R. Tolkien Fallen but redeemed, I am a shepherd of souls first and a painter of houses second. Like all other "earthbound misfits" I'm stuck on a broken ball called Earth, with my eyes set on a far off country that's not of this world. My son said it best when he was three years old, "See the moon momma? When I get my wings, I will fly up there a bring back a piece for you."

Hi Nick!!! I'm a little slow and just found out how old you are, only 2 years older than me - cool. We aren't even 1/2 way there yet. Blessings for your special day in the Lord. Deb
