So it's been awhile.  Summer is here.  It is so-so.  But i'm not hear to chit chat about summer, no I have much more important things to discuss with you all.

Today I feel I should dedicate a little bit of time to the fuckers who put those ugly yellow "Support Our Troops" bumper stickers on their car.  Now most of you know me, i'm as far from a pinko Anti-American Protestor as they come, however these bumper stickers still bug the shit out of me.

It has to do with the fact that i'm being told what to do by somebody I don't even know.  Not only that, but i'm being told to do something that I should already be doing.  Everyone in this country should be "supporting" your troops, and if you're not then you're a stupid hippy who who should move to North Korea, or some other Communist paradise where you'll be much more welcome.

I was thinking about what kind of message these bumper stickers are suppose to send.  The first thing that came to mind is that this is their way of expressing their support for our Soldiers.  But if this is the case, why do their stickers not say "I support Our Troops".  No, it says "Support Our Troops" as in "YOU Support Our Troops"

As i've said before I support our troops and their goal in Iraq, but even so, i'm not going to drive around my neighborhood finding pedestrians so that I can roll down my window and point at them while shouting, "YOU! Over there! SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!"  Which is effectivley what these obnoxious bumper stickers do.  They don't make you cool, they don't convince me that you actually support our troops, all they do is tell me that you're an asshole who likes to feel superior to everyone else by telling them what to do.

Some other notes on Bumper stickers.  If you have a bumper sticker saying "God Bless America", you are not cool.  Take it off right now.  If you have a bumper sticker with the American Flag on it, in addition to any sort of text, you are not cool.  Take it off right now.  The only sort of "pro-american" sticker that looks cool is the American flag, AND ONLY the American flag.  Don't try to be extra special by getting a sticker with some sort of phrase, joke, order, or threat on it.  It looks tacky and the text is probably some sort of really really gay message about(Such as "God Bless America).  It's hard enough being "pro-american" and actually being fashionable with it and you don't help the cause by using slogans that your grandparents probably did when they were your age.  A simple American flag is all you need to show solidarity with the rest of the country.

My California friends.  Sleep well tonight, our hard working State Politicians are making sure to resolve all the hard issues facing our state.

Worried that your elementary school child isn't learning enough about Promininet gay/bisexual/queer/transgender/questioning California figures throughout history?

The state legislators want to fix that!  Now our kids can learn about San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk who was killed in 1978!(I assume because he was gay, but the article doesn't explain)

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12210336/

Obviosly a VERY important chapter in our states history.  Right up there with the Spanish' system of Catholic Missions, or the 1948 California Gold Rush.  Its so important that we MUST spend class time discussing it, even though that time could be spent on... you know... learning real history....

I'm glad that our government is ensuring that all the important parts of our states history get taught to our children!

It's good to see the Democratic Party openly trying to court the votes of people who don't belong here.

I love it.

Democrats=Want Free Votes

Americans=Without Anybody to Turn to.

Is it "too soon" for a 9/11 movie?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12112802/site/newsweek

"One lady was crying," says one of the theater's managers, Kevin Adjodha. "She was saying we shouldn't have [played the trailer]. That this was wrong ... I don't think people are ready for this."

I don't get why people would rather run away from one of the most important events in the past decade then confront it.  Personally, I don't expect a Hollywood movie to make a 9/11 film with any sort of real punch.  It will be neutered so as to not offend anyone, especially muslims and other Arabs.  But i'm interested at least, to see how it turns out.

I want a movie thats powerful enough to be emotional, one that's even going to hurt.  We need to be reminded of what happened that day, because people are getting complacent.  We're not really all that much "safer" then we were then.  That's not the fault of any particular political party, but the work of the government as a whole.  And more and more the people are not putting the pressure on our government to do anything about it.

Hopefully films like this will remind them.

Immigration Protests Continue.

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/03/27/060327202800.c290z4uh.html

5% of students in the LA school district walked out of class today to protest the "draconian"(article's phrase, HAHA) new immigration enforcement bill.

So, just how "draconian" is this bill?  You'd think that it means we're creating a new Immigration Gestapo that will track down all illegal immigrants and brutally send them back to mexico, but according to the same article:

The protests target a bill, already passed by the US House of Representatives, that would crack down on employers hiring illegal workers and people smuggling illegal immigrants into the country.

The bill would also require employers to verify social security numbers with the Department of Homeland Security, beef up penalties for immigrant smuggling and stiffen penalties for undocumented immigrants who reenter the United States after having been removed.

Oh, so by "draconian" what you really mean is... intelligent?  Cracking down on employers who hire illegal immigrants?  Cracking down on smugglers?

God that's SOOOOO AWFUL.  The article doesn't mention, but included in the Bill are plans to increase the border fence as well.  How monsterous!

"If we don't leave school today, half of the school who don't have papers will have to leave soon if this law passes, and they won't come back, ever," shouted Huntington Park High School student Anita Benitez.

.....

.................

Uhhh.... sorry?  I don't recall that our country is required to give hand outs to all the poor people of the world.  Why should we spend time educating children that are not even American citizens?  Their presence within the school takes away from people that actually deserve to be there.  If in fact, 50% of the student body had to leave, then that means that the other half, the ones that are there legally can now get the education they rightfully deserve as legal citizens of the United States.

Student protestors today also walked out on two LA Freeways forcing the California Highway Patrol to shut them down.  Because I guess the best way to get people to sympathize with you is by getting them stuck in traffic and forcing them to be 1 hour late to their destination!

--Edit--

Today the Senate removed aspects of the House bill that would make it a felony to provide non-emergency assistance to illegal immigrants.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20060327/D8GK56HO0.html

I don't have any complaints there,  thought that was a pretty stupid part of the bill anyways.
