  • things that go bump in the night

i don't care how secure you tell me the roof is, the windows are, the attic is.

when things on the roof start going bump at 2am, it freaks me out. parents should consider the kinds of noises thier house makes before allowing them to see scary movies. Signs has given me nightmares for just such reasons. also, gremlins. any movie that involved things coming in through windows also plays into these.

not to mention the reoccuring nightmare where i run away from all these above scary things into the basement only to be petrified of a werewolf chasing me and the tornado about to get me.

um. i need to stop thinking about these things now, so maybe there is a chance of falling asleep.

k, just thought i'd share. i really wish the neighbor hood racoons/squirrels could find a better place to live than in the facing of our roof peak. i'd appreciate it. especially at 2am.

  • snow day 08

once upon a time there was a snow day (Friday the 22nd). on this day, I decided to round up some people to make snowmen. these included, but were not limited to-- my across the hall neighbor from freshman year... a pliable Vohope boy... a photographer vohope girl... some girls from NJCF... and a bunch of frosh-guys(by accident)

first, we built some smaller snowmen. here is one, with kelly (bottom)(njcf), syreta (topleft)(freshman year neighbor), and me (topright)

Next, we took some pictures with this random lion-killing-a-snake statue that is by the old library. it was a good time.(me and morgan)

after that, we built a spartan with some freshman guys from paul(the vohope boy)'s floor.
    (action shot)

    (finished spartan)

for a finishing touch i built some persians... both got killed by spears(the boy's decision, not mine)...

here is the final product. oh, the tragedy of the world!(notice the second dead persian at the base of the spartan... and the chiseled spartan abs.... ... and the spear-top... )

here is the whole group.(or what was left after 2hrs of snow-play )

in conclusion, it was a good time...

aside from all that things have been going well... having my own room is quite delightful, allowing me to move furniture, entertain company with no disapproving looks or awkwardness... it's so nice!

classes are going pretty well... i learned about nuclear power, climate change, analog signals, RLC circuits... annnndd... um... some metamorphic and sedimentary rocks... those were some cool things.

the end. come visit. spring break is 3-7 to 3-16... so we should do some fun things, ok?

  • update people? perhaps!

so, things are going better, i may end up with my own room...

my classes are going well, i have recovered from the death-of-a-cold chittin gave me annnd am now cutting back on the 'roids... (inhaled, for asthma)

something i need to be able to recall quickly is a Voltage divider. here is a diagram:

global women writers continues to be ... surreal and odd. our prof contributes a lot to that factor...

in environmental chem we're learning how frustrating our environmental law system is to work in,

and in geology i'm learning about rocks... and we're doing volcanoes next lecture, hurray! does anyone want to go to the NJ palisades with me? from geo i've learned that it would be a really neat trip. they're where this guy Bowen studied and came up with the "bowen's reaction series" that talks about when magma cools what minerals will crystalize first. he studied at the palisades b/c in the cliffs you can see the evidence of a magma pocket that cooled and hardened far beneath the earth's surface, and, over time, has been moved up and eroded into view
