Well, I am back from our lovely nation's capital. I had a really good time, despite having to pull around about 45 lb. of luggage around the city for most of the first day, several days only getting 15-20 min. to eat a meal, getting chewed out for going shopping (which was rather relaxing), my shoe falling apart, fearing for my safety walking back to the place where we were staying, being late to almost EVERYTHING thanks to my professor's excellent scheduling, and walking about 5 miles or more a day.
I think what I enjoyed most about the trip was hanging out with my little group: Victoria, Ross, and David L. They are such bad influences on me, (they don't like rules, and me- I'm all about the rules, but we are all adults, so what can I do) but I had the BEST time with them.
We went to a Senate hearing on Thursday and we got to see all of these senators that you see on TV, like Hillary Clinton (we got to see her present her ammendment to the Immigration bill), Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and of course Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts. It was very exciting. We also went to the Senate Intellegence Committe hearings on Gen. Hayden to head to CIA - we made C-SPAN and I think but am not sure, that I am in a picture that was in the Washington Post (in the background).
The monuments and Smithsonian museums were pretty cool, but for some reason I wasn't really interested in them. Maybe because I was perpetually tired and hungry.
Everything in the city is pretty fast paced, a little to much so for me. However for the first time in my life, I can see myself living somewhere other than Wichita and I think I could probably live in a big city, like D.C.
And now I leave you with the phrase of the week: "woo-woo"; a noun or adjective describing something negative.
