Birthday, Finals, Flowers & Mother's Day

My goodness, it has been a while since I've posted.  It is May already!  My birthday has come and gone.  We got together with both my grown children last Sunday to celebrate.  They gave me great gifts - quilting books and fabric!  We went out to Mimis for lunch.  They have a wide choice of menu items, so everyone can find something that they like.

It is the end of school crunch time.  I've been busy trying to get my students ready for finals - and getting my finals ready for the students!  Next week is production finals, where they use the computer to do problems.  Computer Applications I will have Word and Publisher problems.  Computer Applications II will have Excel, Access, and PowerPoint problems.  The following week is their mulitple choice (written-bubble in) finals.  I'll have 2 teacher post-planning days and then, I'm out!

The tulips, cherry tree, and dogwood have come and gone.  I love the way that the tulips open up on sunny days and close up on colder days.

Our Oriental Cherry tree really showed out this year!

I always enjoy seeing our wild Dogwood in our back yard blooming.

Now, it seems like my whole front yard is in full bloom. (Don't look at those weeds.  If you don't like seeing them, I'd be glad for you to come and pull them out for me.  Ha, Ha!)

That is enough for today.  I'll post some more flower photos later.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms!

Atlanta Shop Hop 2008

I had a fun time doing the Shop Hop again this year.  Every year I say that I'm not going to all the stores, but then I have so much fun that I just keep going.  Below are my purchases and some of the free goodies.  Each shop gave away a goodie bag with a free pattern block, a coupon for a discount on a future purchase, a  fat qtr. or other small pieces of fabric or some other item such as a pincushion, and usually candy!  I didn't have any candy pictured below, because Maggie would have gotten it!  She was sniffing around as I was arranging this stuff for the photo.  Some of the shops also gave away prizes if you threw a bean bag in a fish's mouth, or spun a ship's wheel, or found a hidden treasure bottle in the store.  I won a big roll of elastic and a booklet.  When I spun the wheel, it said, "Sorry, Not a Winner".

Atlanta Shop Hop

The Atlanta Shop Hop is this week.  I don't know if I'll make it to all the shops, but I usually have loads of fun going from shop to shop!

Spring Flowers

Although the temperatures have turned cooler (in the 50's instead of the upper 60's and low 70's), my spring flowers are blooming all over my yard.

My husband and I talked about getting some mulch and doing some work in the yard this past weekend, but we decided to watch a movie instead.  We watched "Blast from the Past".

My right foot has been hurting when I walk on it, so I went to a Podiatrist this morning.  I have arthritis-tendonitis, so trying to teach while dealing with that is no fun.  However, the doctor did give me a note to take to school saying that I needed to wear sneakers/walking shoes until further notice.  She wrapped my foot with an extra arch support and suggested that I wear New Balance.  I went to the shoe store and bought a pair this afternoon.
