  • Man, I really want a Wii. If anyone has a heads-up on restocking at a brick-and-mortar store, let me know.

On another note, I was just randomly thinking about the Mii feature on the Wii and thought that maybe Nintendo's strategy isn't just for making cutesy avatars.

The Mii creation interface is intuitive enough for people to make very simple-looking avatars on the surface. However, there's no reason why a developer couldn't take the Mii's stored on a wiimote and use that as a basis of creating more elaborate avatars in the game itself.

Let's say hypothetically that someone puts out a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game out for the Wii. In theory, people wouldn't have to go through the character creation process to create their online avatar. The developers already have a working base model - the Mii that player already created. Using the Mii's facial and physical characteristics as a foundation, a model of a human/orc/elf/etc. avatar could be customized immediately to be as close to the player's Mii as possible.

  • For Sale:
    iPod mini, 1st generation
Original owner, I've had it for about a year. Silver color. ~1.5" scuff across the back,
with slight discoloration of the click wheel on the front. Total play time with a full charge
under optimal conditions is about 5 hours. Includes FireWire and USB
cables and AC adapter. I will also throw in an iPod mini armband (handy when
using it during workouts) and an agent18 iPod mini protective case (used for about 3
    months with some scuff marks).

    Original price: iPod mini ($250) + iPod mini armband ($30) + agent18 case ($20) = $300
New selling price for everything listed above: $150 $100

Price is negotiable. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. I'll post pics of all of the above as soon
as I can find a digital camera. If you're in the New Brunswick area you can see all of it in-person too.

  • Ah, it's been awhile since I've last updated, something on the order of about two and a half months now? It's as good a time as any to write an entry now, I suppose.

I know I've always promised to write succint entries whenever I've been away from xanga for an extended period of time, but just this once I'm going to live up to that promise. So, what has happened this past two and a half months that's worth talking about? Well, in brief:

Helped build, assemble and disassemble a parade float for Philippine Independence Day, built and tore down a stage for F.I.L.I.P.I.N.A.S Federation Day, met up with several college friends in the city, played my first pick-up game of basketball in months at Jamesburg, NJ, ran 3 miles in 27.5 minutes, got a case of swimmer's ear in the shower (and learned to curse the U.S. health care system while securing treatment), got a pay raise, studied (and still studying) for the GRE, lived through a week's worth of the flu missing only one day of work, re-learned and extended what I knew of salsa, rumba, samba, and cha-cha, learned how to make a rice wine vinaigrette dressing and creme brulee, cleaned the air filter in my car, and met the best dance partner that I have ever had the opportunity to dance with.

These are all things of varying consequences, but rather than bore you with the details I'll just leave the summary here. Drop a comment or two if you want to learn more.

    Later.

  • My, my. I guess that first comment I made about the Pope was uncalled for,
considering the timing. Rather than deleting the comment, though, I'm going
to leave it there. I'd rather not be accused of hypocrisy for deleting a comment
     that I've made.

I suppose this is as good a time as any to talk about where I really do
stand when it comes to my beliefs. For those of you who have known me
well, this isn't going to be new.

Do I consider myself to be a good person? Overall, yes. I've always
followed a personal credo of doing good. The only place where I draw
    the line is the dogma.

If I choose a life of tolerance, nonviolence, sacrifice for the benefit of others
and goodwill, but at the same choose not to go to church every Sunday,
not to go to confession when I do sin, and not strictly observe Lent, does
that really deny me an afterlife of contentment?

About Me

  • Sup ... just started working on this all of a few days ago, so I apologize for the rather sparse expanse, but I promise to spruce the space up some time in the future. In the meantime, make yourself at home <img height="15" src="http://www.xanga.com/Images/smiley1.gif" width="15">
