I am going to go out on a limb here... I have been struggling with my GPA/grades since forever! Even before I got to Olivet, they weren't that great. I just do not focus that easily. I remember in grade school and junior high, we would have these memory tests. We'd look at a list of like 20-50 words for a minute and then write as many down words as we can remember in 30 seconds. I never really did good on those because I could never focus. And even now, memorization is still a problem for me. My grades were good my freshman year because I wanted to try and do better. But an unfortunate circumstance was brought my way my sophomore year and has continued throughout this year that has forced me to work more and focus on school less. It was either I work more (which meant more money) or I was to leave my house. My grades aren't bad, they are just not where they should be. In order to get into the Education program, which I still haven't gotten into because of communication issues, (which is a WHOLE other story!!), I need 2.5 cumulative GPA. For the last THREE semesters I have had a 2.45, a 2.48, and now it is at a 2.499. I need to get it up a that 2.5 by the end of this year or I can't  get into the program next semester. And next semester is the LAST semester I have to do so, or I will end up being here for 5.5 years instead of the 5 I have planned out. I am freaking out about it! I don't know why! I am getting two A's, a B, and one C. I have tried SO HARD to bring them all up higher, but I just can't. I don't know what else I am going to do. I was told that exceptions would be made, but when I asked again, I was told that there would be no exceptions. I have worked too hard, too long to be told that I can't. It just frustrates me because I feel stupid and I want to give up. I just don't know what else to do...

I thought this was GREAT!!

We should try this at every county jail across the country!!!!!

            Way to go Joe!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update  on Joe Arpaio
TO  THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO

HE   IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA   COUNTY  SHERIFF
AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER  AND OVER

THIS  IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:
Sheriff  Joe Arpaio

(In   Arizona )
who  created the
" Tent   City  Jail":

He  has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took  away their weights. Cut  off all but
"G"  movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city  projects.

Then He Started
Chain  Gangs  For  Women
So  He Wouldn't Get
Sued  For
Discrimination.

He took away cable TV Until
he found out there was
A
Federal Court Order
that
Required Cable TV For Jails.
So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again But
Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather  Channel.

When asked why the weather channel
He Replied,
So They Will Know
How Hot It's Gonna Be
While They Are Working
ON
My Chain Gangs.

He Cut Off Coffee
Since It Has
Zero Nutritional Value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, "This Isn't
The Ritz/Carlton.
If You Don't Like It,
Don't Come Back."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied  that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

More On The Arizona Sheriff:

With Temperatures Being Even Hotter
Than Usual In Phoenix

(116 Degrees Just Set A New Record),
the Associated Press Reports:
About  2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment
At The
Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued
Pink Boxer Shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached
138  Degrees
Inside The Week Before.

Many Were  Also Swathed In  Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS.

"It  Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,"
Said James Zanzot,
An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year.
"It's  Inhumane."

Joe Arpaio,
the tough-guy sheriff
who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear  pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic
He  said Wednesday that he told all of the  inmates:  "It's  120  Degrees In Iraq And
Our Soldiers Are Living In  Tents  Too,
And They Have To
Wear Full Battle Gear,
But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes,
So Shut Your Damned Mouths!"

Way To Go, Sheriff!
Maybe if all prisons were like this one
there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat  offenders.
Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's  time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they  can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

If you agree, pass this on. If not, just delete it.

Sheriff Joe
was just re-elected Sheriff  in Maricopa County, Arizona .

I am asking for something simple. I am asking for your prayers. I have been thinking about something lately and I need to know if it is the right thing to do. Philip keeps telling me that I need to do whats best for me but right now, I am not exactly sure what that is. I am a little confused and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers about the issue. I have something in mind, as to what I am going to do, but am just wondering what will happen if I follow through with my plans. And I am wondering what the repercussions will be if I follow through. I hope everyone has a great rest of the semester and a wonderful summer!!

I got this as an e-mail from my RD of my building. I thought that it was amazing and something to think about!

-Cell Phone vs. Bible-
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell Phones?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we for got it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?
What if we upgraded it to get the latest version?
This is something to make you go...hmmm...where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't ever have to worry about our bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill!
